Don’t get my wife started on rice and the situation in Japan. It doesn’t affect us directly but she reads various things and hears from her sisters.
Supposedly the problem is that the rice is being sent cheap to China and farmers aren’t allowed to plant all their fields or something. I may have that wrong. And then they’re importing it at cheap prices from the U.S. to compensate the cheap price sold to China. Or something like that. I’ve had it explained to me multiples times but I can’t keep it straight.
@Kusojiji you just need one of those new super smart AI rice cookers. They make the best rice /s.
Always a new rice cooker technology to fix your rice.
Our almost 22 year old Zojirushi domestic Japanese version rice cooker has been working great here in the U.S. since fall 2003.
If it’s the speed of a gas burner, I wonder if an induction based system would make an electric rice cooker be able to get the same effect. Induction based systems can heat super fast. My sister in law in Kobe has an induction bad water kettle that’s blazing fast. And that’s at 100v. Our Bosch 240v based induction stove top is amazing.
