Evening all,

Last wall waiting for 2nd coat and the small tv wall is ready for paint in the morning.

TV only has 3 connections to unplug, Antenna, Power and Firestick power, and then the 12 unit pound lifts up and out away from the wall mount.

Should be a couple of hours tomorrow, then a 4 hour wait, and then another 30 minutes.

Have a good evening all.

Hello gentlemen. Been bussy but nothing to do with modeling...basement finishing work, my old car needed some TLC. But today finished puting together special piece of furniture:

20230914_201753.jpg

Unable to find anything even remotely close to what i needed, i decided to bite the bullet and build my own; locomotive testing shelf with space below for models and the like. It's 8 feet long by one foot wide and top shelf is even with the window, as for ease of opening it.

Lastly i did put some tracks and ran my 1 gauge train on it:

Closer track is 0 gauge as i'm just dipping my fingers in that, and H0 track will eventually be put in the epmty space. This will help me clean up the cluster f..k off my modeling table and off the floor. Cold autumn nights are coming and it should be a pleasure to build models in clean environment.

Looks like Uncle Pete had a disaster in North Platte today. Apparently it wasn't enough to shut all operations down and those that were shut down were able to resume after a few hours.

Explosion at world’s largest railyard in Nebraska
Their having all kinds of issues here lately.

This was in the news on Sunday.

Smudge has been hanging out here, just not in the Coffee Shop. Christian took himself out by reregistering far too many times, almost like it was a game.
I am beginning to really worry about Jaz though. She's been gone way too long for it to be just taking a break.

Going back in the years though, I also really miss Beady and his absolutely warped sense of humor. And Chet since he left the hobby. In Chet's case at least, he has given me the opportunity to preserve some facets of Logan Valley on my layout. I think that Todd has most of his engines and will also preserve some of that legacy.
Willie: Yup, have a lot of his engines. Have not heard from him for a month or so. I have been so focused on the ReDo along with other house stuff I have not stopped by either. Should get a break from it all in a week or so, maybe then.

Morning all,

64° and partly cloudy. Supposed to be cloudy later with a slim chance of rain and 75° for the high today.

Painting to continue when it gets lighter in the next couple of hours.

I really hate Google's new AI spell checker. It used to be that I mistype a word and it would be able to give me the correct spelling along with a couple of guesses. Now most of the guesses aren't even close.

Patrick: Turn the st00pid spell checker off. I gave up on all of them for any my devices as you end up saying stuff you do not want to say. This site's checker is not bad as at least you get options that *usually* include the word you want. I do use the checkers Linux provides for those documents that need to be formatted with good grammar and at least look like you know what you are talking about.

Good Morning All!

48F @ 62% and dark - can see stars though. To be 84F bout 1700

Trip yesterday was good. Ended up going to HD in Ponderay picking up 20 2x4x8's for about 2 dollars cheaper ( each ) than what I can get them locally. Sheet Rock is way out of line no mater were you go. $13 for 1/2x4x8 sheet - not the two in a bundle as it used to be. Still is about 5 bucks cheaper than local. Ima kinda stuck with the local stuff as the Expedition just won't carry the load of a F150. I probably could only get 10 at a time with it so gas would get in the way to go 150 miles RT. Besides, have no place to store them other than on the ground and covered. Will think on that anywho as it takes about 3 hours to come and go along with less than 1/4 tank of gas.

We stopped at a hole-in-the-wall place near Ponderay on Hwy200 - been there before a few years ago. Have great food reasonably priced and fast. I had a Ruben, she bacon/sausage and eggs with hash browns - $28 bucks. I do think that the fly's got more than I did though. Ya, fly season around here - most of the places in Libby also exhibit this problem - couple of weeks at the end of summer and it goes away.

I posted a pix of one of the plates the wife wanted in 'The College Kid Layout ....' in Design and Construction. You can gander at that if you wish. 8 setting with a bunch of other crap to go with it. Bowls, spoon holder, pot holders, various lidded containers, curtains ... the list goes on. $100 for enough stuff that almost filled 2 big boxes so she was ecstatic. I guess that I started it all as the dishes we have been using were getting pretty rough and I complained. In fact, you can barely grab three of them out of the cupboard without having those extra Wheaties in the morning. Now to work on her for glasses that match. Life goes on.

Boy, I tell ya the kid is good. One 4ft stud wall in the East room and that can be insulated, wall board and flooring. Then we get to move all the Dau stuff from the South room into it and start on it. It was like pulling teeth to get the wife to go with not finishing the North room as cold is coming and the insulation needs completed before that. When the South room gets insulation, we will move her bed and a little stuff to there, then finish the North room. Dau is happy with the progress and knows ... just a little bit longer and the whole 9 yards will be done and she can have the 2 rooms ( now 1 room ) for her stuff and bed. The kid also has the RV skirting done also. Geesh!

I guess that I rambled ...

Good morning goobers and assorted nuts!

Flo, my usual coffee please, and can I get a Thomas's English Muffin with peanut butter on it, creamy, not crunchy please.

49° outside when I got up at 5 a.m. As of right now it has warmed to 53° heading to 76°. NICE!! Damn shame I'm stuck at work!

Good morning. 51f degrees heading to 74. It’s still dry and it should be this way per the 10 day forecast.

Today I plan to put down the track in the staging yard. I have 2 more diesels to program for a buddy and he’s coming tomorrow morning to solder the feeders to the staging tracks. A needed trip to the USPS as I have some weathered diesels plus some containers and trailers to ship out. Also got notified by EBay that 1 auction successfully ended yesterday and the money was paid and a buy it now also needs to be shipped. That’s my first buy it now!

enjoy the day

Good Morning!
Looks like we're pretty well done the horse thing for the year. Our friend Austin is packing up his horses and getting them off crown land, and then taking the group back to his farm in Rocky Mountain House. It's been a fantastic summer, though.
Here's a couple of photos from our ride on Wednesday:

I always stayed behind the wife. The beep of my camera turning on seemed to bother my horse, so I didn't take all that many photos. It was difficult to control the horse when he startled, and hold the camera at the same time.

Anyway, it's going to take another day to get my muscles back to normal, in view of the after horse effect.

The weather is supposed to cool off next week; 10 degrees cooler than it is today. That will bring it into the low teens, Celsius wise.
No more horses and camping, but the home reno's, ice-fishing, and modelling will be coming into play again.

I'm going to take the dog out for a forest walk, and try to get those muscles loosened up.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 69°, the rain has been removed from today's forecast for us. There is a pretty widespread area of precipitation about 150 miles west, between Lubbock and Wichita Falls, but it's unlikely to reach here. Disappointed, as the rainfall total for me was only 0.3" over the last 4 days. Most evaporated before the next days event hit. Yesterday's accumulation of 0.14" was the largest and that's rather paltry.

Moving on, yesterdays weekly grocery trek was not as good as expected, Kroger was out of 4 things on my list, the most critical being fresh Jalapeno Peppers. Since I was going to Sam's Club next to get my hearing aids cleaned and adjusted, I just thought I would get some there. But nooo! They don't carry Jalapenos. So I left with just my charcoal and rotisserie chicken, plus a few other items. It was already late for lunch, and I went home. Gasoline prices were 60¢/gal higher than 2 weeks ago. Yesterday it was at $3.19/gal just about everywhere. At the convenience store near me (8 miles away), it was $3.19 when I was outbound, and three hours later it was $3.39. Same deal at Quick Trip 12 miles away in town. Yes, the mighty town of Sanger TX (population maybe 9200) now has both a Quick Trip and a Starbucks, both opening in the last two weeks.
Observation: I went to a Schlotzsky's for a couple of sandwiches while in Denton. They have 22 tables inside, but just 12 customer parking spaces! Math just doesn't seem right.

I returned out to the train shed yesterday after a day of absence. Layout folks were glad to have the lights back on. I ran trains for a while and did some work on the coffee shop project. I scratchbuilt some long tables to use with some chairs that I already had, to use on the plaza out front.

Today I will paint them and add a few more figures. These all came from two different Preiser sets, the figures in the red chairs were already attached.
I also painted a concrete parking lot next to the building site. Paint should have dried overnight and I will add stripes today.

The scene is coming close.

Tom O - The first thing that went into the train shed when I was building it was the iPod and docking speakers. It's the most used tool out there.
I like your paint shelves, it's the first time that I noticed them. I have to look around, as I believe that I still have some 2" x 2" aluminum angle buried somewhere in the barn. Right now my paints are stored randomly in 4 locations!
Todd - Yes, it's been about a month since I last spoke with Chet as well. He's still unpacking and walking the dogs. He is also now the head of his HOA, and getting some improvements done.

Today is the first day of Rosh Hashanah, if you are of that persuasion.
Hmmmh! The area of rain has moved closer without dissipating, now just 60 miles away. Maybe there's a chance yet!
Everyone have a fantastic day and an awesome weekend. Reminder: Hit "Post Reply" when done composing!

At 70 I still ride with Terry and the grandkids 2-3 times a week. When she is home she rides daily at least! Muscles hurt after riding those monsters no matter how often you ride or not. The massages I have given because of those horses I will be forever grateful for!

Willie

They are nail polish bottle holders from Target. 4 for $10 before Covid.

And the saga of the little blue pills comes to a close.

Costco: 13.99/US for 30 of the 50mg

Doc gave me a single refill on them and said to message if I need more.

More expensive by a few bucks than if I let the insurance/mail order pharmacy handle them. But, I don't have to jump through hoops.

Now the wife will be happy and stop bugging me all the time... ;)
