Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 66° to start this auspicious day.

Yep! Today is the big day, wife and I have been married 50 years. Thank you all for best wishes. We'll celebrate by taking a surprise road trip to Oklahoma City and visit a few places there. We'll start at Will Rogers Garden with it's roses, arboretum and conservatory with cacti and other succulents. Then it's off to the Whistle Stop model train store. Next will be the Bricktown Brewery for lunch. It's just around the corner from our fourth stop, The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Final stop is at Tinker AFB for the Charles B Hall Airpark, an airplane museum. That may be a short stop as it's an outdoor display so it's weather dependent based on temperature. The whole thing is a 300 mile round trip and we may stop at the WinStar World Casino for supper on the way home, although that's just 25 miles our house. They have 13 restaurants, 5 fast food joints and 6 bar/lounges. She may want to gamble a bit, but that just isn't my thing. I had to tell her yesterday that we were going so she wouldn't make any other plans; but I didn't mention where we were headed.

Out in the train shed yesterday, i made some more progress on Farmco Supply. I installed the sign, added stripes to the parking lot and did some minor touch up on the ground cover.

Then I played with the positioning of the adjoing structure, the 7-11 store.

I still have room for an additional business next to that before the road and the City Hall across that road.

I don't have time for my usual babble and comments this morning as I need to get ready to leave at 0800.
I'll see y'all tomorrow.
Everybody have a great day.
Willie you're doing a great job on the Farm Supply. No handicap parking though. Love the ballast you're putting down lately and the railroad crossing looks like a first-rate job. George

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. We have a grayish, hazy sky but no clouds. The TV folks are saying it’s the smoke from the fires out West. It was 60f degrees at 3:21AM when I had an opportunity to check. It was still 60 at 6:43AM when I got out of bed. 82 is the predicted high per the WeatherChannel app.

After 10 I need to finish cutting the acres around the house. The immediate 1 acre is done and the Weed Man did finally show yesterday around 9 just before we headed out. 3 more acres to cut and done till next week. With the cool moist nights, but no rain, and sunny days the grass seems to be growing in front of my eyes.

The painting I purchased yesterday has caused a bit of an issue in the household. It’s a touch small for where I thought I purchased it for. We brought in 3rd party arbitrators (the daughter and her assistant, the 11 yr old g/d) and they sided with Terry. It replaces a wall sculpture that I really think nobody like including me anymore!

The treadmill was moved by the SIL and 2 of his neighbors. It now resides in one of the the connections between the house and the pool. Sliding door panels that can open, radiant heat for those cool/cold days but mainly we can see the world. The outdoor wake-up and walk between 5:30 and 7am are done for the seasons. It’s too dark, getting cooler and we are getting maybe too old to be wandering around that early, especially in the dark. Also moved was a couple other small pieces plus Terry’s exercise matts, free weights and toys, I mean equipment. One of the neighbor helpers then had his son come over and buy the equipment we weren’t ever going to use again. One piece was the huge 3 place combo station thingy that stands about 8’ and was bolted into the floor. (Gift from the brother) They were looking at buying a new one all summer and it was just a fluke dad came along to help out yesterday. The son is a HS freshman standing already at 6’4 and plays Basketball and Soccer but is a skinny rail. The son and a few buddies will be over the next couple days to disassemble and move it. He got a great deal. We got rid of it!

Trains! I have been busy. Weathering a couple hours each day splitting time between the Alcomotive’s 2 Bay covered hoppers and some of my own layout stuff. James is/was in no hurry so this actually has worked out very well for me.

enjoy the day

Good morning all, woke up to a thunderstorm about 2:30 am, still raining. Gonna be a soggy one in East central Minnesota!

TomO- great pics, esp the "Streamliner"

Willie - appearance of the Farmco bldg very authentic! Nice job

Morning photo from the old layout, however the little cabin has a prominent place on the new layout as well:

The tree trunk in this scene was made from epoxy! Had the best bark of any

Will be back later, Dave LASM
Thanks Dave. Railroad Park and the 3 pieces in it were a nice surprise. We have driven through town on trips on the backroads coming back from Racine. But we had never gotten off the main drag. We were looking online for a family restaurant actually in a college town nearby, Whitewater. It’s always great exploring new places.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. I get to go visit my sister and Brother-in-law for the first time since May. He's been going through chemo and radiation treatments for a tumor on his tongue, and has finally gone far enough that he can have visitors without worrying too much about being immunocompromised.

All his tests are coming back geat!

I mow about 6 acres every week. Zero Turn mowers are awesome! If I don't have to pick up too many sticks, I can get it all done in a little less than 4 hours, but I usually split that over 2 days. Last evening, I mowed around the houses. That takes about 2 hours, maybe a little less, depending on how far back beyond the main house I go. Tonight or tomorrow, I will mow the "back 40."

Usually, I really enjoy watching the Purple Martins darting about, trying to catch all the bugs I stir up as I mow. But they start heading south this time of year, so the acrobat shows are done for this year. Which reminds me... I need to start feeding the deer. I usually put out a large bag of corn every week or so. from mid-September through February-ish

The Zero turn mowers seem more novel than practical from my experience with them. We have a couple of them for the church cemetery. The biggest problem I find is ya have to keep both hands on the steering yokes. I like to be able to smoke a cigar while mowing or occasionally take a sip of water. You can only let go of the yoke for a few seconds at a time or the mower starts to steer off your line your mowing on.

Officially a Happy Anniversary to Mrs. Willie. Since we know Willie got the better end of that deal. ;)

I made a target run to get some munchies and some more fabric softner. Today is laundry day and I just don't like how the clothes are coming out with the Dryer Sheet method.

Saw this meme today, after finally getting to wear a jacket to make the shopping trip. I ❤️ sweater weather, and it's still only 64° here in Indiana.🤘 but, this meme made me stop and think... yeah... that will probably happen...

Nah... I can use one hand as long as I don't have to turn too shaply. It's nice to be ably to zoom along at close to 10 MPH and still get a good cut. I've gotten so good at spinning around trees that I don't need to trim. We have a really nice mini tractor with a 60" belly mower, and the zero turn runs circles around it... Haven't used the tractor to mow in 5 years now.... it's too slow.

@santafewillie Congratulations on hitting the 50 year mark! I will be joining the club on 9/22/23 unless she wises up.

Joe, I don't know if you've run into this yet with Digitrax decoders, but in order for them to MU with other brands, you would need to set CV57 to 102. For whatever reason, Digitrax borked their BEMF setting when MUed. That cv setting should take care of the issue. I've run into it many times in the past, to the point I haven't even checked any more. I just make that change, and everything works.
I did not know that. I don’t use Digitrax decoders anymore, but that’s still good to know.

Good Morning, Happy Friday. It was a bit chilly this morning, 53° locally.
I am currently on a 6 day course of MethylPrednisolone 4 mg tablets. 6 today, 5 tomorrow, 4 Sunday ... to ease my lower back pain. My spine, is very arthritic:(. Later this afternoon, I see another orthopedic concerning my Right knee and both ankles. Monday, I start another course of Physical Therapy.

Not much going on with the layout. Hope to prep the back drop tomorrow, and apply it on Monday or Tuesday. It is self adhesive.

Interesting read about Charles I and Charles II ind Oliver Cromwell and the English Civil War. Charles II was recognized as King immediately in Scotland, Jersey and the Dominion of Virginia, but couldn't take title until Cromwell passed and the Monarchy was restored. No wonder Charles III was at first reluctant to use his given name.

I was just thinking about the lack of interesting photographs to upload, lately.

Afternoon All,

Early posting today since I'm getting a haircut around the time I would normally post. Did some chores then finished up the shed, put some details in it and put it on the layout.

Hughie- Nice job on the plank by plank build. Interesting 1:1 load picture.

TomO- Nice 1:1 photos.

Willie- Have a fun trip with the missus. Nice work on the layout.

Dave- Nice scene.

Jeff- I'm glad it sounds encoraging for your BIL.

Alan- The PA's look outstanding. The basic grey and red SP is my favorite of the two.

At my old place, it would have been nice for trimming around trees but I needed a garden tractor that I could mount a plow on for the winter to plow snow. Not an option on a Zero turn mower. Don't have to worry about it now. No lawn to maintain.

Have to make it quick today. I was down in the Bozeman area visiting my daughter and her family and my son followed me back up to Libby for a couple of days of visiting. Nice to see them and the grandson.

Enjoyed all of the photos as usual. I think that is what I miss most about not getting on the forum daily. Would be easier if I got it on the phone.

TomO
- The photos of the old city buildings look just like down town?, main street Libby.

Chad - When do you expect the house to be completed?

Dave - Great photos.

Jeff H - At my old place I had a 2 acre lawn and I could get it done in around three hours. The trees slowed me down. Talked to my old next door neighbor and apparently the lawn got away from the people that bought it. He said that he had a couple of Mexicans out there with weed eaters for a few days. Laughed my butt off. I usually kept it trimmed down pretty well.

Willie - Congrats on the anniversary. The farm supply building is a winner.

Curt - Like the little shed. A great detail.

The kids just got back from the grocery store. I didn't expect to have any visitors and there wasn't much in the fridge. That was going to be tomorrows job.

Here are a few quickies from the archives.

Great pics, Chet; I recognize the backdrop in a couple scenes but some of these shots are new to me

Boris: I hope the medicine works!!!

Curt, the little building is right up my alley. Gives me an idea

Looking forward to the weekend, will be splitting wood and shoveling some gravel in prep for pouring a slab in the car port. Thinking about Chad when I am working with gravel, now.

I am kind of hyped up, looking at some land to buy close to work, hope everything works out (it will, God willing!)

May not be on this weekend, if not will be checking in Tuesday cause I have Monday off too.
