good morning everyone
what a nice week to start. yesterday got a big order in my shop (the biggest so far).
iam really happy with that woop woop.
on the weekend i had some time in my workshop to start working on trees. i have to somewhat build around 60 (thats the goal) different types of height and two different types of trees i will build.

this is the actual status. i started to do 16 tree trunks? some around 30cms. all for H0 scale.
when iam done with those 16 i will add some texture (bark) and then spray them brown. then on to the static grass. still a long way to go
- on sunday i was outside. had to harvest? my quince. i got around 5 boxes of em. thats around 150-200kg (from one tree).
well sounds like i had a productive weekend
Wish you all a great start for the week.
cheers
Marco
I did not watch the video. Noteworthy that UP is presently BNSF's biggest competition. A single line coast to coast competitor in the deregulated era, could prove to be a major problem, which would force BNSF as well as CPKCS and CN into a bidding war for CSX. (A merger of the magnitude of UP + NS would affect all rail and ground transportation) The Labor Organizations are also in opposition.
Beware of Pacific Hurricane Simon, currently lurking between Baja California and mainland Mexico. The cone of uncertainty projection is for Simon to run across Mexico for Texas. Just like your annual vacation hurricane crossed over into the Gulf. While October is typically a wet month, 3rd wettest annually, it looks like we got it all on the 1st, with nothing serious in the current forecast
Never heard that phrase for them but its defiantly fitting, especially if my stuff goes thru Chicago.Unnaturally Slow Package Service
Interesting scenario there. All of our mail comes through Ft Worth and we have never had any issues with it. I agree though that the PO has gone downhill in the last 25 or so years. Ironic is that if I mail a letter addressed to myself, deposited in the mailbox in front of the PO (or the one inside), it goes to Ft Worth first and is then returned the next morning for a 12 hour turnaround to my mailbox. That's a 100 mile trip to go 12 miles to my mailbox. Of course it may be 3-4 days before I go there to get it!I posted this last Saturday..........
Since postal rates have gone up (again) I have this to report :
I sent a check (letter mail) for payment on a boxcar to Minneapolis Minn. It took 7 days to get there.
Item left Minn on Oct 6. to Saint Paul.
Departed Saint Paul Minn on Oct 7.
Arrived in Dallas Tx on Oct 7
Arrived in FT Worth on Oct 7
Departed FT Worth on Oct 8
Arrived in Seymour p. o. (my mail comes from here) on Oct 8....good to this point but
Seymour sends item to Grayford Tx ??????
Departed Graford Tx on Oct 9
Arrives in Ft Worth on Oct 9
Departed Ft Worth on Oct 9
Arrived in Olney Tx Oct 10.......now being processed in Olney Tx.
As of today, Monday, my package departed Olney back to Ft. Worth. It is in Ft Worth today. This is the third time this package has been through Ft Worth distribution center.
In a perfect world the package should be delivered from FT Worth and arrive in Seymour P O in early morning and be delivered to me that same day. That would be tomorrow. We shall see.
What a bunch of crap. Absolutely no reason for this to happen other than people NOT doing their job.

Good to see you back safely.Back home after the long road trip.
sheeesh so many questionsGreat! I can’t wait to see you build these trees!
What type of tree? Its impression is they are conifers
Are those trunks woods dowels of bamboo sticks (skewers)
30 cms is Imperial 11” which in model railroading is a tall tree. To get various heights are you just cutting down the length of the tree trunk?
A heavy Arcylic paint and some saw dust make nice tree bark texture! What method are you trying?
Are you creating video for your channel content for these trees?
Have fun with the project

Monopoly as could result from the proposed merger, is an undesired effect of the 70s/80s deregulation movement.
sheeesh so many questions
i try to answer them.
what type:
- i go with Spruce and Larch trees
whats the material:
- i would say some kind of woods dowels. i got them i think 80cm long from a wood worker. 4mm wide
about the height:
yes those trees are big, but they are more or less to real scale. the "normal" trees you buy from the big names, aare mostly shrinked and not true to scale (in my opinion).
about the bark. i have some pasts, or acrylic pasts from RTS and AK Interactive, i will go with those. but its a try and error. the saw dust idea i also heard a lot. maybe i have to ask a good friend if i can have some from his wood workshop.
about the video:
so far not planned, because i learnd this technique from Marcel Ackle, and he asked me to not puplish a video on creating. because he does workshops about creating of those trees. maybe il do a video about them next year, when i have added more and more steps of my own
Hope i could answer your questions![]()
i never tryed AK.but i have th eproducts in my shop, thats why i will tryThanks Marco.
It’s good you keep your word with Marcel about the video making. I totalling respect that.
I was just about to watch your video on bushes when instead I came back to the forum. I’ve not had much success with AK interactive pastes as I feel they are too thin! Sorry, just my opinion.
I have used Abteilung oils for a base to thicken pigments for tree trunks but mainly now use Golden’s Light Texture pastes in multiple layers with saw dust chopped finer in a hand coffee grinder when needed.
So many ways to build trees and none of them wrong.
