good morning everyone

what a nice week to start. yesterday got a big order in my shop (the biggest so far).
iam really happy with that woop woop.

on the weekend i had some time in my workshop to start working on trees. i have to somewhat build around 60 (thats the goal) different types of height and two different types of trees i will build.

this is the actual status. i started to do 16 tree trunks? some around 30cms. all for H0 scale.
when iam done with those 16 i will add some texture (bark) and then spray them brown. then on to the static grass. still a long way to go :D

- on sunday i was outside. had to harvest? my quince. i got around 5 boxes of em. thats around 150-200kg (from one tree).

well sounds like i had a productive weekend :)
Wish you all a great start for the week.

cheers
Marco

Great! I can’t wait to see you build these trees!

What type of tree? Its impression is they are conifers

Are those trunks woods dowels of bamboo sticks (skewers)

30 cms is Imperial 11” which in model railroading is a tall tree. To get various heights are you just cutting down the length of the tree trunk?

A heavy Arcylic paint and some saw dust make nice tree bark texture! What method are you trying?

Are you creating video for your channel content for these trees?

Have fun with the project

Good Morning All. Clear and 68° here at home sweet home. Not much has changed weather-wise here since I left. Warm spell for a few days, low-90's, and then a real cold front on Friday dropping nighttime temperatures into the upper-40's, maybe! While October is typically a wet month, 3rd wettest annually, it looks like we got it all on the 1st, with nothing serious in the current forecast.

The trip home from Galveston yesterday was mostly smooth and as expected. Traffic through Houston was lighter than we expected, but the usual very impatient drivers were out in full force; abrupt unsignaled lane changes, instant acceleration, and just plain rudeness. Quite typical of our experiences there. The OU traffic between Denton and presumably the border was mostly red on the GPS, so I took our usual alternate route for the last 25 miles on the back roads. In Denton, the interstate changes from 3 lanes to 2 lanes and a lot of it is undergoing reconstruction right now...due to finish around mid-2029. A nap was in order after a day of driving. A nice trip overall, as there was only construction on the first 8 miles in Galveston/Texas City, and some between Dallas and Denton. But there was a lot of nothing along the way, we have a lot of that here in Texas.

Mainly unwinding this morning. While we unloaded the car, I did not unpack, wife did. I'll do the bed linen laundry later since I wasn't here for the normal Sunday timing. I'll catch up with the financial investments and see where we are after the absence. I had done some significant shuffling about two weeks ago between several ETF's. Might even watch the political news just for fun.

Alan - Enjoy your time in Gulf Shores. In retrospect, we would have been fine but with no place to stay! Condo shut down completely.
Marco - Looks like you're off to a good start.

The late Sam Moore, of Sam & Dave fame was born on this day in 1935. He just passed away last year. The late Melvin Franklin, bass vocalist for The Temptations was born on this day in 1942. He was with them for 34 years before passing in 1995.

Everyone have a great Monday.

Good morning. 65°F out there heading for an all-time record high October temperature in St. Louis of 94°F. And a repeat tomorrow of 95°F.

I hate the southern Midwest. Our normal high for the week is supposed to be 71°F. The only saving grace of this crappy October weather, is that the high doesn't stay high that long as the days are growing shorter, the sun angle is shallower and doesn't generate the intense UV found in July and August, and the dewpoint is in the low 50°F. Not entirely uncomfortable, just extremely annoying and frustrating for someone like me who looks forward to Autumn every year.

With as little rain as we've received here and high temperatures this whole year, Autumn isn't going to amount to much here. Leaves will all turn brown, fall off and that'll be it for this year. There will be little leaf color this year.

I think the new antibiotics are working. It's much easier to pee without any pain, and even the flow has improved in spite of the CT scans showing a moderately enlarged prostate. Three more doses; today, & Tue-Wed. The stuff really knocks me out in the afternoon when I take it at 1400. It makes me somewhat dizzy and I need a nap within about 30 minutes of taking it. I normally have a short nap anyway in the afternoon, but with this med the urge to sleep is overwhelming.

Cardiology annual check tomorrow at 0830. That's a ten minute appointment if he's in the office when I get there, and I'm usually home again before my coffee gets cold. The only reason I keep going is that it's the only way to keep getting my cardiac scripts filled.

My nephew mentioned going to the range this weekend so I'm really looking forward to that. It's not really a range, though one has been set up. It's a farm owned by a grandfather of one of his friends. Escort is necessary by the grandson, so if he can't make it, no one can go.

I hope everyone has a nice Autumn week.

Servus!

Good morning Crew. 62f degrees now and 85 later. Another nice morning that while is not clear skies it’s still very nice. Lots of clouds but it’s not gloomy.

We did come home last night. Staying at a hotel again last night had appeal only because we didn’t want to travel the back roads in the dark. But the hotel we decided on was only 2 hours from home so we decided to switch roads outside of LaCrosse and came home via the Interstate I90 then I90/94/39 and stayed on it till 4 lane State Hwy 12 and US 151. Definitely not the way we wanted to finish off the Autumn Color Change road trip event. I’m ok on 4 lane highways in the dark but still a touch uncomfortable. Terry put the Brewer/Dodger game on car’s info screen so neither of us missed any of it. Basically she watched, I was driving…

This afternoon we will be at the game, 5pm Eastern start!

Not exactly sure what’s going on this morning. So I’m free till noon when we leave for Milwaukee and baseball. To my son in law believes going to the game and not tailgating is a crime against humanity (Weird I know)! But the daughter said no to pulling the kids before noon today. They were pulled last Friday for the weekend soccer tournament!

Enjoy your day

I did not watch the video. Noteworthy that UP is presently BNSF's biggest competition. A single line coast to coast competitor in the deregulated era, could prove to be a major problem, which would force BNSF as well as CPKCS and CN into a bidding war for CSX. (A merger of the magnitude of UP + NS would affect all rail and ground transportation) The Labor Organizations are also in opposition.

Monopoly as could result from the proposed merger, is an undesired effect of the 70s/80s deregulation movement.

Beware of Pacific Hurricane Simon, currently lurking between Baja California and mainland Mexico. The cone of uncertainty projection is for Simon to run across Mexico for Texas. Just like your annual vacation hurricane crossed over into the Gulf. 🤪

Happy y'all are home safely.

Locally: 55° and cloudy with lessening clouds the balance of the day...The Remanent storm dropped 1.64" of rain on us yesterday.

Today is throw away day as we further jettison unwanted / unneeded furnishings and appliances and "keepsakes".

Y'all have a great week.

I posted this last Saturday..........

Since postal rates have gone up (again) I have this to report :
I sent a check (letter mail) for payment on a boxcar to Minneapolis Minn. It took 7 days to get there.
Item left Minn on Oct 6. to Saint Paul.
Departed Saint Paul Minn on Oct 7.
Arrived in Dallas Tx on Oct 7
Arrived in FT Worth on Oct 7
Departed FT Worth on Oct 8
Arrived in Seymour p. o. (my mail comes from here) on Oct 8....good to this point but
Seymour sends item to Grayford Tx ??????
Departed Graford Tx on Oct 9
Arrives in Ft Worth on Oct 9
Departed Ft Worth on Oct 9
Arrived in Olney Tx Oct 10.......now being processed in Olney Tx.

As of today, Monday, my package departed Olney back to Ft. Worth. It is in Ft Worth today. This is the third time this package has been through Ft Worth distribution center.
In a perfect world the package should be delivered from FT Worth and arrive in Seymour P O in early morning and be delivered to me that same day. That would be tomorrow. We shall see.
What a bunch of crap. Absolutely no reason for this to happen other than people NOT doing their job.

John

Good morning all!

Going to feel more like August totay than the second week of October. Currently a sunny 70F. Highs will top out at 87F. Guess we better enjoy
it as it will barely break 50s later this week with rain on the way.

Not much to do around the house today as pretty much everything was done yesterday.

Wife and daughter are off work and school today for the holiday. Me being scarce will be the name of the game today so I don't get roped
into some kind of project.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

Back home after the long road trip. Beat the flooding in the SoCal\Arizona area as we got home late Saturday evening.

Finishing the western half of Route 66 was nice, but once completed was kind of a let down...mostly because it was done. Still have the Chicago to Springfield Mo to do to actually complete the route. We'll be doing that early next summer when we go to Michigan to the Celebration of life and "dispersing" of my parents ashes in Lake Michigan.

I'm glad I don't live in the LA area. Traffic was a mess and we left early to get to the Santa Monica pier.

We got to see Hoover Dam on the way back and then rode the Grand Canyon Railway. They were running a pair of F-40FH locomotives. The lead was decorated for the 250th anniversary of the USA.

We ran some of the Route on the way back, so we have done parts of Texas and Oklahoma again.

Surprisingly, I didn't get any calls from work, and yes I have already been through email at work and I'm almost back up to speed for my first day back tomorrow.
