Nearly every modern steam engine and some modern diesels still have traction tires. I had a new SD70ACe with traction tires. It was a model for the European market.Rail zip (last time I looked) was $5.99 an oz. ATF was $5.99 a Quart. Plus RailZip tended to dry out over time and get sticky.
What modern engine would still use traction tires? I thought they died with Tyco.
That's a great Daughter. I haven't been there since they made a museum there. First time i was there was in 1988. We went to the top of CN Tower and pretty much all the tracks from the past were there, plus the whole engine house area with its track layout. Then in the 90s they were continually ripping the tracks out. It's great that they left the roundhouse.Good evening all. A full house of grandchildren.
Daughter dragged SiL to Museum in Toronto. (That's my girl.)

Troy- That reminds me of the Irish dwarf who had a pain in his groin every time he walked in the rain. He went to the doctor, who checked him out and could not find anything wrong. The doctor told the dwarf to come back the next time it rained and he had the pain.Unfortunately, my current army of the "Dwarven" analogs didn't fare well in their last upgrade. I love the models, but the scale is too large for other games in that genre. Now I'm debating selling them off.

Think that's one of the sets I had way back when. What a piece of machinery! My last HO engine that had them was a Chattanooga Choo Choo many years ago.
I dont think machinery is the word I would have used.Think that's one of the sets I had way back when. What a piece of machinery!
Remember the commercial on TV?

Oh I forgot the little scales! My last HO engine that had them was a Chattanooga Choo Choo many years ago.
They're dime a dozen at train shows.I still have one I think. 0-8-0, tender driven?
I thought those BLI and MTH thingies were supposed be mostly metal and heavy.Every BLI and MTH and Bachmann steam engine had them, and I had an MTH HO scale SD70ACe with traction tires.
“The customers” think a 2-8-0 should be able to pull a 100 car train by themselves.I thought those BLI and MTH thingies were supposed be mostly metal and heavy.
The one I had in 1974 ran rough and bumpy.Found it. Runs rough and bumpy but it’s been in a box for a looong time. View attachment 245679View attachment 245680
