Afternoon all,

Miss a day and miss a lot.

I trimmed and mowed the yard yesterday. Then spread weedkiller and winterizer, then did 2 loads of laundry and meals. I was tired last night.

Then had another Monday's Monday until about an hour ago. Good news is that we have our fiber line that was down temporarily patched. Waiting for the fiber provider to give us a status on when it will be replaced. We did pretty well in that the local school district hired a fiber provider to get fiber between their buildings. The city had 10Gb fiber run between all our buildings, and much of it ran where the schools are, so in a swap, city signed a contract granting ownership of half our fiber runs to the internet provider, but they are to maintain our fiber as well. Still trying to figure out how a single strand breaks in a cable that is buried and in conduit.

Supposed to be cooler tomorrow. We'll see.

Willie: Wife says I snore when I'm on my back, and I usually sleep on my side. I do expect to get put on a CPAP.

So the no-show interview recruiter and interview coordinator got back to me and apologized. In their books it was listed an hour later and they just did the timezone math wrong when sending me the email to confirm it.

So I was able to hop on and do it. I think I did pretty well though I was nervous and messed up one part. They anted e to code one small example thing and I could use with the older iOS libraries or the newer SwiftUI. I chose the older ones out of precaution since I have a lot more experience than with SwiftUI even though SwiftUI is what I've been doing most of my recent work in on the side and for learning. But I couldn't get it to work for some reason -- some weird error which I later determined to be that I had renamed something but a connection config elsewhere didn't get updated to the new name. It doesn't crash now but I still don't have the textfield working.

However I was able to quickly create a new SwiftUI project while in the interview and get that running for them so I did pass it, just after embarrassing myself. It's basic stuff and I am not sure why even now, as I am truing to make it work for my own edification after the interview, it's not working.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

I am not a collector or a Colt or 1911 aficionado but an all original, verifiable with factory letter, good condition pre-WW1 1911 is bound to be worth a very good penny.
$4k-$5k, but who knows if several bidders really want it. The Model 57 is pretty mint also and we had to relist the Colt Commercial 1911 due to a non-paying bidder.

Stay positive on the job hunt. Something good will happen when you least expect it.

Yeah the RhB stuff is fun. I don’t have Bernina / Allegra stuff (yet). Just a whole stable of Ge 4/4 II and III and glacier express wagons and older EW I wagons.

I’m sitting here at Discount Tire this morning getting a slow leak on the wife’s car fixed and rotating them. I wanted to get here before they open but, while I wet the time on my alarm last night, I forgot to actually set it to go off. So I got up 20 min later than planned. I still got here only about 5 min after they opened and they still had an open bay. So I got in quickly. In fact it is my 8:23 and they have it rotated. They’re not seeing a leak in the water bath so we talked about it. They’re taking it off for a physical inside inspection. Quick service and they’re close to the house.

Two first technical interviews today. Wish me luck.
Tell them to check the valve stem. I put some spit on it to see if it bubbles up. In fact, just did this yesterday on my wife's car.

Good luck!

domestic piss water.
me thinks there is a little preference here? haha

I'm going to have to start hunting for some German or English stuff out here. It's been a while since I looked, but I remember a creamy, tan colored beer that got a shot of nitrogen into the glass. It wasn't Guiness.

I think I tried Bavarian and didn't like the fruits.

@Marlin39 I wish my WW1 1911 looked that good. If it goes for less than 3K I will be very surprised.
Hit 71 here today after going to 47 last night. Worked today, put a shooter grade Savage 99 in .300 Savage on layaway for me! Also had a nice surprise today, as I heard a voice say "I just stopped in to see my Uncle", I look up and my 16 year old g'niece Nataley has just stopped in because she saw my van there. Yeah, perked me right up!

Yes they put it in a water tank and also took it off the rim for a visual and tactile inspection of the inside and didn’t find anything but said they replaced the stem just in case there was an intermittent or not easily seen leak.

My wife says the same thing, but im a side sleeper.

I think she dreams it! There are times when I am laying on my back and im awake, and she will elbow me and
say roll over.

She says no way, but I know better! 😥
Gee! that sounds familiar with different positions. I am either a side sleeper or a belly sleeper because I know that I will snore when on my back.

I prefer to use a glass cleaner. In the dark ages we used gasoline to locate leaks in tires, among other things. I do not recommend using gasoline for anything other than its intended purpose.

@chadbag Hopefully these recruiters will see in you what we do.

Good morning, Everybody!

We picked a good day to take off yesterday. Amazon Web Services (AWS) suffered one of its largest global outages in years, and it rippled across much of the internet. Amazon reported “significant error rates” starting around 3:00 a.m. ET, with millions of users worldwide unable to access apps, websites, and devices.

As I like to say, "Technology is great, when it works."

I'm curious to see what kind of ... mess the Amazon stations will be in this morning. As a contractor it won't be our problem. It is a blessing to be self-employed, therefore independent.

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!

Russ Francis, a prominent figure in NFL history known for his time as a tight end with both the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers, died Sunday in a plane crash at Lake Placid Airport in New York.

Russ was a key player for the Patriots and in those heated battles for the AFC East title with my Baltimore Colts in the 1970s. He was one of the greatest tight ends of his era.

Yeah, I got that warning this morning when I decided to call my retirement brokerage firm, that recently took over from Vanguard, that I couldn't access my account through for a couple of years, and they never answered any of my letters.

The guy was very helpful, especially while trying to validate my ID. The question was when did I terminate working for the company. I couldn't remember what month so he asked again and said "final answer". I guess I didn't win the $1M, so he asked when I got hired. Yeah, couldn't remember that either, but he took my second guess...

Spit was readily available... haha
