74°F/55°F here today. Expected high of 80°F, but with dewpoint so low it will still feel like the mid 70s.

Nothing planned again on this lazy day. I had a late start here this morning because I was investigating different 3m adhesive transfer tapes and other very high bond tapes for a repair project I'm thinking of tackling. It's either that or sewing that I don't have a machine for. I'm also going to show the gal who does my sewing for me and see if she wants to tackle it. She has her own seamstress business and does quite well.

This repair I have is a little out of the ordinary though. That's why I was investigating different adhesives and tapes. 3M is pretty dog gone proud of some of their products judging from the extreme pricing some of this tape has.

I thought that you were backing off the gaming?
I am, but there is an annoying person who keeps running for the board. He routinely gets 6-10 votes out of about 80.

The Prez didn't have time to recruit a new candidate to run, assuming I was going to. I forgot my term was up in Dec and forgot to warn him.

So, I'll stick around to keep the annoying one from getting the default vote. Fortunately, responsibilities are small, and mostly by email.

As for abandoning gaming? Not really, but reprioritizing this winter. I'll be bouncing between the MRR and a new army for a different game. No one local plays that game, so I have nothing to do with it until an event pops up close enough for me to go to. I might be able to get 4 events in next year playing that game.

AND, I'm not organizing anything about those events. I just have to have fun painting the army, then rolling dice and trying to collect the wooden spoon award.

Good morning from rainy damp NC!

It’s a totally chill day hanging with the g-kids, heading home tomorrow. Hoping the DC traffic won’t be bad since tomorrow is a federal holiday. We went bowling last night where Grammy was victorious and Grandpa came in 2nd. Grandson could not believe the old folks beat him. Hahaha!!

@troyphoto so what is the new game?

Nice day at Church today, good messages. the Missus and I are relaxing now, watching Midsomer Murders we recorded last night. Just an easy night planned, working tomorrow and then Tuesday taking my wife to the Little Rock Airport early as she is going to Myrtle Beach to visit her cousin there for a week. This place is gonna seem really quiet after so much of the year having family staying here with us. Oh well, I predict lots of old Westerns will be watched.
79 here and a very pleasant day today.

Good afternoon to all...............

My 99% Isopropyl alcohol did the job on removing numbers/lettering on my tenders. I soaked them for about 3 hours and scrubbed the numbers off with a soft toothbrush. I've got about three or four more to go.

I haven't even thought about bowling in years. When I was between the ages of 10 to around 22, I used to go bowling on a regular basis. I carried a 189 average back then. When I started bowling, you had to keep score by hand. We had a piece of legal sized paper with four or six rows of frames for that many games. There was an overhead projector that the bowling alley would use during league play. It just projected an enlarged view of your paper score sheet. As I recall, way back, costs were 15 cents per game and shoe rental was 10 cents. Oh yea, a hamburger at the grill there was 25 cents. I could mow a couple of yards and have enough money for bowling. I got married at age 21, so not much time for bowling after that. The wife was not into it. Her hobby was spending money.

I purchased a new steam loco today from Train World. They are having a sale ( until Oct 14 ) plus you get 10% of any purchase over $100.00. My loco photo is listed on the "What are you buying" thread. I really don't need another loco but the price was just too good to pass up.

I de-sprued the two base pieces for my Walthers Stock Yards kit and cleaned up the flashing around edges. I need to prep the fencing pieces also and get ready for paint, assembly and weathering.
And I have the Bachmann 2-8-0 project going on, just waiting for some plastic washers from McMaster Carr.
All I need now is another project to start. 🤪

Gotta whole chicken to boil up, probably later this evening.

Everyone have a great evening..........John

Kings of War. They've got a new edition (4th) coming out end of next month, so I'm diving back in.

(I don't do GW any more. Never played 40K and soooooooo glad I didn't ever dive into that money pit).

I'm doing an Abyssal themed demon army. Just built the Nagarri horde... Sanding all of the scales off the models. I'm going to do some 3D printing conversions and make them look like this guy:

Around 4 pm yesterday on the 16th golf hole I had to put on my heated vest. It got cold and with that realization I thought maybe it's getting close to model railroad time. So, this morning before church I started to add more bridge going up warning lights to the lift bridge that will now be a Diorama. Here's a video of the bridge in action I posted a few years ago. i sold this layout. i made the decision that i will not build further on this, so i sold it.
on sunday the guy get here and picked it up. so now i have again some space for another "project".
for that i had first to build some stands.

i built it out of some leftover wood from my (old) balcony floor.

IMG_0700.JPG

i had to build two of those. for what? well let me show you in the next picture:

on sunday between coffee with friends, and some talking i did organize all the colors.
now one corner in my layout room looks like a shop haha. but iam only selling the stuff online.
but it looks great in that corner, and clean. so i still have some space left for my other projects. and now that all the colors are back in the stand, my workbench is free to get back to some layout builds. woohoo

cheers
Marco

Good morning, Everybody!

Amazon paid me to show up because they didn't have any blocks ready to go. Therefore, I am home early watching baseball. 😁

After looking over the box score, of the Mariners-Blue Jays, I'm really looking forward to watching this game! Seattle's pitchers combined to throw only 100 pitches in total. The average number of pitches thrown is about 146 pitches per game, for each team. Talk about efficiency!

On paper it looked like the Blue Jays were a sure thing. They were rested and ready with their Ace set to go. The Blue Jays have the best record in the American League, 94-68. Built on the strength of their record when playing at home, 54-27. Also, the league's best.

On the other hand, the Mariners had just played the longest game in post season history to conclude an exhausting five game series with the Tigers. A series that began with an 11-inning extra inning game and concluded with Friday's 15-inning epic. Then they had to fly 2000+ miles to face the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday!

With a depleted pitching staff, the Mariners had to turn to their 5th starter, Bryce Miller. In the postseason it is not unusual for the 5th starter to be not used at all.

In the bottom of the first it looked like Bryce wasn't up to the task when he gave up a homerun to George Springer. It wasn't a bad pitch. It was on the outside black but belt high. The old veteran (36) Springer went with the pitch and drove it over the right field wall. Bryce settled down, continued to attack the zone. He went on to pitch 6 innings, only allowing 1-run and 2-hits. The Mariners' bullpen did the rest holding the Blue Jays hitless in the last three innings.

This is my kind of game!
