I haven't posted lately as I have been busy working in my train room.
Mainly working on west end of layout where my helix is and laying out track to fit.
I have a lower level (staging) a main level and an upper level. Staging and helix are 98% complete but now I have track work around the outside of the helix at main and upper level. I know, clear as mud without a photo.
But track work has worn thin and I am now working on the east end of layout room, finishing the insulation and putting up wall covering.
It looks like I will be getting the upper level operational before the main level as there is much more work to do on the main level.
I'll try to post some photos later. By the end of day I am usually too tired to fidget with downloading a bunch of photos from my camera. That will have to happen on a good morning.

Train sale at Lombards went south when shipping on two sugar cube speakers was $13.95.......not today.

Take care....John

Good morning Crew from a gorgeous opening to the morning. Sunny, clear skies with calm winds and the temperature at 36f degrees.
No-sir-re! An't going to move there!
WALDO would not like that!

This from a decades old RMC!
I love the photo!

Bussy day today...doing absolutely nothing constructive. Way too nice to be sitting home, so went down to Strasburg to see if anything was running. Fall foliage is at its peak and as one preacher always says; "Lighten up and live". Great thing i went because my favorite Strasburg RR engine was doing the honors of pulling trains today; number 90 light decapod, former Great Western locomotive:

Here the train to Paradise is just about ready to depart. Few close ups of running gear:

Next waiting for it at Black Horse Road crossing:

It was windy and getting cooler by the minute. Next the decapod is backing up to its train after running around:
After leaving Leaman Junction i've stopped over not far from Bird in Hand. The sun was just about to set and i was hoping for a westbound Amtrak after seeing double green in previous location. Almost as if by request;)

With that good night everyone.

Reading about the Baltimore fire is one reason I won't live a a multifamily dwelling.
Good point. Based only on the photo Louis posted, plus growing up in a "twin", it appears the bulk of the fire and extension, was in the rear, either a porch, (deck), or frame shed attached to the back. The brick common walls will retard the fire in the main house, assuming the common wall extends to the roof. There are other issues with row homes, especially the 100+ year old versions.

New multifamily structures are loaded with combustible "modern" materials. Common walls, are largely thick sheet rock. Not my cup of tea either.
I have a key for Metroliner and F40PH, it was given to me by retiring Philadelphia engine house foreman. Have you ever got to run the original Silverliner I, the ones with diamond pantographs?
You must mean the six Pioneer III cars built by Budd around 1958. Answer: Yes. They were very similar to the MP54E cars in numerous ways, except a nicer ride and air conditioning for the passengers. Five of the original six remained in service when I was promoted in 1972.
I pretty much was qualified and operated everything that the PRR/PC operated during my tenure. The 1962 Budd PSIC cars and the St Louis Cars... (Silverliner was a name created by the Philadelphia Media and adopted by SEPTA, a political entity, more concerned with buses and subways, and railfan groups). Even the 1975 delivery GE cars were referred to as GE cars in our usage. I was a Road Foreman in Suburban, before my first tour with Amtrak in the fall of 1976.

Guess the Cab car failed. Great photos.

Good morning gang!

40° and clear this morning, with a 9 mile an hour breeze out of the northwest. Looks like today’s high will get up to 67°. Look at the long range forecast, we’re heading into a warming trend that should see Saturday’s daytime high as high as 80°. Indian summer!

On the other side of the coin today will be the first day back to work in 10 days for me. I really enjoyed the time off, even though it wasn’t a go away vacation it was more of a staycation. I got a lot of stuff done, but still had plenty of time to relax and enjoy it.

My wife can get ready to go out faster than me and usually does. She is also an experienced international traveler who travels light.

From my experience my wife is unique.

I think the answer to your question is we are all different.

You should be able to find a newspaper nearby if not in the hotel lobby. Make yourself comfortable and read while you wait.

Have a safe trip home!
Rare woman. My ex was the opposite, 10 pairs of shoes to go to Europe for two weeks. I guess she did me a favor by divorcing me.

Good Morning All, from Gulf Shores AL. While it's clear overhead, it's foggy on the ground level and 60°. Heavy dew on the handrails of the balcony was quite a surprise. Back home, it's 73° and raining although it looks to be rather light right now, remnants of Pacific hurricane Norma. Returning here, there is a riptide warning out starting Tuesday morning and extending all of the way until Friday, so today will be the only day in the water (if it's not too cold). OK, I just looked it up and it's 72°.

The trip here yesterday was uneventful. Gasoline in Gulfport was $2.72/gal, where we filled up. Here in Alabama, it is $3.09/gal. Posted speed limit was 70 mph, but I was being passed by many other cars and I was doing 85!

We went to what used to be known as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Model Railroad Museum, now named Traintastic, before leaving Gulfport yesterday. They have moved into a new building that is at least 10 times the size of the old place, but haven't moved everything over yet. Much of what is there is new that they built while the old place was still open. That includes two HO layouts that were donated to the museum. All of the Lionel was there, as well as the much expanded Lego area. There's a new animated Lionel layout that's pretty neat. I have lots of pictures, but I haven't had time to download them yet.

That's it for now, it's light enough for a walk along the beach. Everyone have a great day.

Good morning from a wet rainy morning in So. Central WIsconsin. It started after midnight and the weather stations on the property are both stating 1” plus. 44f degrees now, the overnight low was 40, moving up to low 60’s. The forecast says 60’s for a high the next 3 days but with rain.

Heading over to the exercise equipment and then a swim. A couple non weathering projects in the train room to complete is my morning agenda. Told Terry after lunch that I am hers to do with me what she wants! She missed the hint and mumbled something about sending me back from where I came from…

enjoy the day

Seems to be raining everywhere. Rained her last night though today through wednesday it says mostly or partly sunny. Then a cold front, and 3 days with 30-60% chance of rain and Sunday 30% chance of snow. Then back to sunny but much colder. Today is supposed to get to 68 (after low 70s last week)
