I've never been to Trader Joe's, but my wife goes every time that she visits the grandkids without me. I will get my initiation this weekend I am told.

I'm always underwhelmed.

Fun Fact: Trader Joes is owned by Aldi. But not the Aldi that owns the Aldi stores. Aldi in Germany split a long time ago into two companies (over the dispute of selling tobacco amongst the heirs of the founder). Aldi Nord owns Trader Joes and Aldi Süd owns the Aldi line in the US. The two Aldi companies each control different countries "Aldi" stores. They combine their purchases for greater purchasing power (at least in Germany) and co-manage the brand etc. and there is talk I have heard of them re-combining.

I also heard where here in the US they may merge. Either way, I am underwhelmed by Trader Joe's as well.
I do have to stop at Aldi's on the way home, since income is down, we're headed back in. Saved $20 on the groceries we got last week over the same stuff at Dillon's (Kroger owned).

Smudge: I always heard Keep Eating Tasty Oysters. ;)

It's a European model so yes it's HO, but you can fit OO wheels if you want, and you've seen me run OO loco with HO cars, if it wasn't for the fact the cars were NP, and obviously of US design, would anyone really have noticed?

yeah I think Jaz is probably more concerned with OO. Me, I am looking at N :) I have a bunch of the older issue cars but only a few with snacks -- mostly beer wagons -- from the Euro style (read german/uk buffer and chain). And I don't even drink beer. Most of my interest is in later 19802--present German/Swiss type trains but the olderstuff piques interest as well. I have 50-60s style passenger wagons (which were used up into the 80s on the slow locals). Reminds me of traveling and when I lived there.

Willie - on the refrigerator advice, I would keep the old one too. Mom and Dad had a Frigidaire growing up, must have been made around 1959 or so only one I remember, they gave it to me when I got my first "permanent" job in 1980. We had some kind of strap on the door to hold it shut, otherwise cooled just fine, then a couple years later when I built a log cabin (no elec) gave it to a friend who needed one, still worked. So, it lasted at least 25 years and probably longer.

Later when I got electricity and a newer second hand fridge from day one it did not cool well and later find it leaked, that model was notorious for leaks. Friend who gave me that one did me no favors as I had to dispose of it. Repair man said it could not be fixed.

James - great the way you treat your people!

Do you have this one?

If you like Swiss trains, try these guys.

yeah I have those wagons. Those are wagons for the RhB. I have that, the Glacier Express set with some expansion wagons, and also the new RhB container stuff that came out this summer. And several different liveried versions of the Ge 4/4 II and Ge 4/4 III locomotives.

I've never been on the real life RhB but would like to at some point. It serves Davos, IIRC, where our economic superiors hang out to talk about our lives... In the middle of the mountains (which is most of Switzerland I think)

I buy mine direct from Japan as that is the least expensive way.

Jazz models in OO, so may not look "just right" to her, but you get what you can, Most UK manufacturers don't model European freight so......

I left the dentist office and went for the groceries. Purchased only from the list made by the wife except for a bag of M&M’s for $11.48 for the train room.

Gas today is $3.79 for regular down from $4.39 on 10/4 when I last got gas locally per the credit card logs. Premium is at $3.99 which is the lowest since early September. Didn’t need either though today as every tank is at least 3/4’s full. Soda is crazy. Diet Dr Pepper in 16.9 oz bottles today was $4.99 a six pack. Tuesday it was $10.00 for 4 six pack minimums.

Cleaned the bench off for some weathering after lunch. Now I am waiting for the 11:40 lunch meeting. My 2 PM meeting with the attorneys has been moved to Monday, time TBA.

I fail to see why the buyer would return it to you now, seeing how long ago this all kicked off, seems a bit pointless to me, unless he's trying to get his money back from PayPal claiming not "as described" but I can't see that flying after all this time either.

I suppose you could always strip the loco if you thought it was worth the effort.
Ok, maybe! Post Office may have had it as the post stamp is dated 2021 cannot read the month or date. Lots of postal markings on the box. Includes a refusal of service sticker. Lost then found, who knows. I am not going to worry about it.

Thing is, why did the buyer not ever contact me after saying thanks he got it. He had also purchased 3 of my Cab Forwards. I am not contacting him.

I am not stripping it. I will repair it and put up for sale

Good morning from east central Minnesota, 32° and it was snowing on the way in to work today, accumulation in a few places. At least we know it will melt,

Some more realistic water came yesterday, put down another layer on my water feature, thinking about adding some cattails in the vicinity of my lake rush, maybe this weekend. Ran the train around the layout a few times, put the steamer off to the side and running the SW-1 again, that is my smoothest runner that fits my era, would have been a brand new locomotive in 1939.

Wife informed me we will be moving the bed so she can paint some trim tomorrow, also have to add a trim piece on the ceiling fan, a little work left to do to prep my concrete pour sidewalk/carport slab, getting near to winter need to wrap up the outside stuff,

We had a nice fire going in the fireplace last night, will be burning wood now for a few days as the heat is so nice and saves using our propane which means we save cash.

No sports news from me ever, I did not inherit that gene have never understood the fascination so many have with it, but we are all different, thats what makes the world go around they say.

back later, Dave
Football, rugby, whatever, I watched it if my dad was,not paying much attention, but he liked someone to listen and recognise the players.

but whilst in my late teens early twenties I liked the international rugby, I have no idea of the rules, did not care, never will, not even the Welsh team, but there was this French player he had a very nice body a great bum not bad hair and he ran like an angel,I always liked watching him from behind…be still my lust gland lol, it was like a dream him running with the ball 🏈 filmed from behind his legs pumping and his bum rolling..total bliss.

Although it seriously makes me wonder about youse guys watching blokes around, getting all sweating and tearing their shirts off, surely you should watch the girl players……sniggers.

That one is probably KETO agnostic (not milk chocolate like the first). But as Jaz said, it is H0
Yeah milk chocolate and my favourite at one time white the milky bar kid far far too much sugar, hence my love of super dark chocolate, I could get the wagon and trash it,so it need not run and the wheel issue makes no differences..would not be the first and likely not the last…poor Thomas
ah not that one, I rode behind that one

Fit OO scale wheelsets, promise you won't notice the difference at 3 foot away.
Got a mate in Germany looking for one, just in case;)
Ah not to send to me,because I won’t give my address, I wanted a wagon that is photographed at Goathland I had helped an Australian modeller get his layout up to speed with hint and how to for Goathland and he sourced 2 said once was for me and I was like ahhh errr no sorry no can do, and I really really wanted the wagon but nope no address no real name.
But I seriously appreciate the thought, big hug.

yeah but that one is not KETO friendly
I could not eat it,maybe lick it a few times….sniggers…..yeah I need DARK. chocolate.

…but no I w ont….but I’ll buy the large desiccated coconut add cream and dark chocolate 🍫 and e brass the 💡 idea…..yum yum. luckily coconut is Keto….and the first person who tries to say it isn’t is DEAD meat.

I think that is why Mom got interested in American football, Dad liked watching the girls and Mom the muscled guys...

My wife is very jealous I cannot look at girls AT ALL, not even a little, would get "that look". Even just talking to any woman and she is nearby I can see the hair raise on the back of her neck, yet she made it a habit to banter with the guys in the building (when we lived in the cities) but would not give the gals the time of day.

Believe me, and I tell her, the last thing I want in this world is an affair, and the honest truth, I cannot handle the woman I have WHY would I want another one? The emotional baggage would be literally staggering!

Talking of my Keto diet most lunchtimes I work towards omad one meal a day, and thus I get a massive 500g over half a pound 🥩 steak for um err 1000 calories and lavish it with salt pepper and herb d’jour usually garlic and rosemary

the other 600 usually consists of a spoon and clotted cream, and as many strawberries as I can scoff, now I rarely lose weight having got down to a size uk 12, but I do not give a flying fart, I get a massive steak, and yummy cream and 2 chunks 120 calories of dark chocolate strawberries are 30 cal 100g or 3 and a half ounces, and some coconut sprinkles. Now I defy you to say that’s no t a great diet, I even chuck in the odd coffee.
Do I breath in when I smell fresh bread..you bet…do I buy it….nope never. Tempted. There is food 🍱 I loved I do not eat, but hey. soy sauce, not good for men okay for women especially older women but read the sugar content and faint! still a little goes a long way if desperat, so far in the last year I indulged once. As for rice, wheat, corn, no no and no. I used to love 🍝 pasta, but no I know it. Is not good for me, not temptEd. plenty of good Keto choices, and I can make Keto toast
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoon almond flour (I find coconut flour too dryfor this recipe)
mix in pint glass cook in microwave 1 minute
it smells quite eggy, and I got used to it initially by eating with a fried egg.
having made this now for a number of friends who are like wow .l.this actually tastes nice.
It is fast easy and if I have a yen fro bread this can a,so be toasted or fried.

A delivery truck just dropped off a 240lb 80 gallon storage tank for the geo thermal system at our construction site. Trying tos ee if anyone has a dolly with strap we can use to get it down into the hole and then into the house. The framing is mostly in so we can leave it in the house for now.

Yesterday we got a Viessman boiler delivered (to our storage facility) with all sorts of other pumps and stuff. The boiler is to drive the driveway snowmelt system (only). It will have a backup line into the radiant in case the heat pump goes down but in general it is only for the driveway. The geo thermal engineer said the geo thermal system would have to be 2x the size to support driveway snowmelt since you are basically heating the outside with it so it draws a lot of energy. So we opted for a gas boiler for that instead.

Just got off the guy from the pre-cast company wanting to see when I am ready to take delivery and installation of the garage floor pre-cast. Lots of stuff happening.

I had hope to finish off the waterproof membrane application around the foundation layer yesterday but with the boiler delivery and my daughter forgetting to tell me she had to stay after school for a meeting of some sort and so waiting an extra hour we didn't quite finish it. My son and BIL are up there now working on finishing the waterproofing. I am trying to get some day job tasks done so I can go up and help. We also need to level off and smooth the top of the wall where the precast will be laid. That will take a day or three as well.

No rest for the weary.
