Good Morning All. Clear and 61°, supposed to get near 90° today! Winter must be approaching.

Wind shifts from the NW tonight, so tomorrow will be a bit cooler...80°. Still predicting thunderstorms for next Wednesday/Thursday. With temperatures in the 80's going in, that means a potential for severe weather.
Lots of household chores yesterday occupied my whole morning; dishwasher, laundry, burn trash, etc. Early afternoon was cutting firewood for about 30 minutes before heading for the train shed. Later on, I made Italian sausage with homemade Marinara made from Tomatoes that I canned in 2023. Still using Onions harvested back in May.
Spoke with my son yesterday to wish him a Happy Birthday, and wish him a safe trip to St John's in the Caribbean for his birthday trip. Then the bad news from him. His MIL, who is visiting from Philadelphia, fell in his home Thursday night and broke her hip which required surgery; and they had to cancel the trip! It's a strange situation there, as she lives in Philly and his FIL lives in the guesthouse in their backyard. He's suffering from early dementia and they (son and DIL) thought that MIL was coming to take him back to Philly...maybe not! Odd couple to begin with, as while they are currently married to each other, they have divorced and remarried twice before! Third time must be a charm. She loves his money.
This morning will be an outdoor morning. I need to give some attention to the compost pile and turn it over. Then I can either cut more firewood or split some that I already have on standby. All good exercise.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I first turned my attention to the roof of the hotel/card room structure. The kit came with 2 Hydrocal air conditioner castings.
These got painted and I also painted a couple of DPM roof hatches and added all to the roof.
Then I got some drainpipes from the details drawer and added them to the sides of the structure to cover the seam where the wall castings met. I had to extend them with some .050" Evergreen styrene rod to reach the ground.
Note also that I added some Evergreen sidewalk to the front and left side as well. This will be painted today. I also test-fitted all of the windows and doors, all of which still need curtains/shades. Once again I will struggle with the arches.
I posted the other day that the windows on the left half, were supposed to get awnings, but I couldn't find any in the kit! Instructions show them, so I can either E-Mail Randy or just look for some in my multiple boxes and drawers of details. Signs are next.
I've got some other small projects going on on the side along with running new engines to keep me occupied. More on that later.
Terry - Bad that you dropped the engines, good that you were able to repair them so readily. Fortunately I haven't dropped an engine in over 20 years. It was a blue box GP50 that never fully recovered. What are you doing home on Friday anyway?
Todd - I haven't ever learned delivery drivers names, not that I would remember them anyway. The UPS driver that delivers here is a familiar face who has been on this route for at least 5 years. We nor the neighbors get deliveries from FedEx except on rare occasions, and I haven't ever seen that person. Amazon drivers are different on every delivery. I see them delivering to the neighbors because I have to stop them when they leave there and threaten them (with a call to their dispatcher) for driving too fast on our gravel easement road. They ignore it since they are never the same ones again.
Patrick - Best wishes on your upcoming medical procedure and CPAP intro.
It should be noted that the UP/NS merger or buyout has not even been submitted to the STB yet, even though the shareholders from both have approved it. So if approved, it's unlikely to happen before 2027 at the earliest.
Everyone have a super Saturday.
