Good afternoon. It's raining and 79.
I just ruined most of my clothes in the commercial dryer where I live. I set the heat to "low", put my money in, ran my clothes through the drying cycle, and about half the stuff physically melted. The HOA doesn't allow solar-powered dryers, so I guess I'll need to find a laundromat that's close by, and use that. I "can" use the no heat option here, but that is wasting money, since it costs the same as using heat.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who need to have their annual dose of Lifebuoy

It's Troy again

We got the powdery white stuff here in the fort. Looks like up to another 2 inches coming in later today. I might get to use the new electric snow blower!

Slept in til 6 this morning. We'll see if that keeps up. I always hope that a trip three time zones away resets the internal clock from summer when I wake at the crack of dawn.

Off to the writing cave. BBL
I'll be here in mishawaka for the 6 to 11 inches their talking about lol

Gotta laugh,

Drove to my not so local local hobby shop (38 miles each way) picked up my 44 tonner along with LED's, paint, and metal wheels for another project. Go home a few hours later and unboxed the loco.....well I tried too. Once I got the box out of the plastic sleeve, opened the box, removed the book and stuff and found NO LOCO!

It seems after a phone call that I bought the box for the loco in the display cabinet! Looks like I will be going back next weekend!

Terry, please keep Mr Murphy to yourself!!

I use Loctite PL300 Foamboard adhesive. It will come off of plywood decking with a putty knife and leverage, but sturdy enough for a model railroad.
I did get some loctite adhesive today. Worked well. After a couple of hours it was dry enough to start carving. Thanks to all for suggestions.

Two pics, before and after. Did a little carving for clearance purposes.

💩! Considering you probably paid full locomotive price just for the box, makes me wonder how much they will charge you for the locomotive?

Welp I did a trial thing.

I want to add a "floor" to my ruined cathedral bases for the next wargaming army.

So I got some air-drying DAS Clay:

And I printed out some 3D effect rollers. One is a circular cobblestone pattern. The other is more of a tile motif.

I mixed the DAS (about 1/6 of the bag) with a big dollop of PVA glue and mixed it. DAS tends to crack, and mixing the PVA in is supposed to help with that. HOWEVER it is messy.

I rolled out a large swath of the clay, then wet the rollers and ran them across the stuff.

I'll let it dry overnight and see if I can crack it loose from the waxed paper tomorrow sometime.

Having been in the industry and kitchen I get it. There are "foodies" that like to have the WOW! dining experience and there are "diners" that want a good meal. Back in my chef days, Bay Area chefs would go to each others restaurants, so they could enjoy their talents. Nicki and I have had 2-star dining experiences from no-star chefs. The Europeans I had worked with back in the 1980's hated the American trend of stacking food and having a dozen complicated ingredients. They called it "playing with the food" because it was handled so much.

A 1 star restaurant pretty much means that the chef is putting out amazingly great food. 2 stars means the food is perfect, every time, and the service matches. 3 stars mean everything is perfect, for the whole dining experience, every time.

This is one of those 0-star chefs that Nicki and I were good friends with. He considered us equals, but he was a whole lot more talented than I was. https://www.fremonthills.com/dining-events-public/personnel/steve-chan
I appreciate good food served in a nice friendly manner. While I enjoyed the food and I am losing weight for what we paid I want more value. The high end service is just not me. There are foodies I agree who go for the food. I go for the food, service and company.
