Palestinians are descendants of Biblical Filistines, always trying to destroy Israelites, basically up to this day terrorists.Willie. Our days of attending bonfire night are over. The old days of eating toffee apples and parkin have long gone. The 'Woke Brigade' put a stop to all that. (Here anyway)
The children (and adults) across the park will be lighting fireworks. We shall see them from our lounge window.
Next week is going to be a challenge. There is talk of stopping laying a wreath at our local War Memorial on Armistice Day? The Council do not want to upset Palestinians? We shall see.
Guy Fawkes night, as for not blowing anything up, I'm not making any promises, I mean, where would the fun be in not doing that.Across the pond, I believe that today is Guy Fawkes Day, or is it Night?
Everyone here have a great day. David and Chris, don't blow anything up tonight.
Those are the ones I'm patiently waiting on. I thought for sure those would be next. They still have BNSF's in stock. I think if they sold out they would've done the heritage 3 which will sell better.
If you ever get to Chicago, go to the Museum of Science and industry. They have an exhibit of one you can walk through. It was inspired by the CB&Q's Pioneer Zephyr
Yepper, got a few of those. Someone did the detailing and weathering. They look just fine in a long freight train. Fixed two Varney cars yesterday to make them run good. This long gondola was definitely an interesting find:Good Morning All. Cloudy and 60°, should reach 80° for the next four days. Maybe rain on Thursday and then more seasonal temperatures for a while.
I had a boring day yesterday, just puttering around the yard. High winds during last week's thunderstorms scattered a number of tree limbs around the yard, so I spent about 90 minutes picking them up and moving them to the ever-growing brush pile. Most were dead from the summer drought, none were more than 1.25" in diameter. Some might be good for kindling once I trim them up so they fit into the shredder. I also ran the electric push mower over some leaf accumulations and bagged them up for tilling into the garden.
Mac - Those old freight cars look just fine to me. At least 1/4 of my fleet is Athearn Blue box or similar vintage.
Is it the photo, or is it really that long? This long gondola was definitely an interesting find:
Tom-Have you ever gone to this show? The guy I have been weathering intermodal pieces for is sending his daughter over this morning with more pieces and to pick up what I have done. I also texted him a list of things to look for at the train show he is attending today in Wheaton, Illinois.
Tom: You bring up a good point. I have some 4750 covered hoppers, painted/lettered Penn Central from Tangent. I also have other covered hoppers that are similar, from other manufacturers/importers. How many does one need? I have my fill. They keep cranking them out, ignoring "Modern Modelers" needs. Every era has "as built" and "transition" modelers, but even the PRR, which ceased to exist on 2/1/1968, has "modern" modelers...the 1962 - 1968 era was modern for the PRR. Yet Manufacturers ignore that era in favor of as built or transition. CSX and other current era carriers have a large following. Yet much of what I see dates back to the beginning of CSX, or the current collector craze, "Heritage Schemes" Very little current era working cars...Obviously, someone is not watching what sells / what lingers. An example that comes to mind is Tangent. They did a run of 4750 covered hoppers. They did 6 CSX that sold out right away but didn't do more for some reason. The older ones that they did (roads no longer in existence) are still available today.
How does a memorial on Remembrance Day commemorating a (mostly) European war 109 years ago, offend the Palestinians? Seriously, who cares if they are offended...Especially when they started this latest war? This is crazy! The Council do not want to upset Palestinians? We shall see.
I used to go to one in DuPage County that was held monthly. But that was pre-2000. I’m not sure if this is that show but the-named.Tom-Have you ever gone to this show?
I have meant for years to go to one, but always find an excuse not to. Is it still held monthly?
I'll be laying a wreath at our local memorial, and as far as anyone objecting to it. they can, in a friend's words "jog on" Anyone trying to stop me and the group I'll be attending with will find out what it means to upset a bunch of Veterans, in no uncertain terms.Willie. It is the way of things here. Even (in certain areas) Christmas, Santa and the like is not allowed to be spoken or written? He is welcome here. How does a memorial on Remembrance Day commemorating a (mostly) European war 109 years ago, offend the Palestinians? Until I saw one on the railroad, I thought it was a fake. They're called "Mill Gondolas", and are longer and narrower than general purpose gondolas. Mostly found in steel service. This long gondola was definitely an interesting find:

Boris: I love seeing different eras of modeling, however most of the folks that model the transition era for example either have what they need and want or sadly are passing away. Many times when a collection is being sold Its steam thru late 70's yet for some reason manufactures keep making product in this time frame that seems to not move.Tom: You bring up a good point. Just a thought.
Hence the saying, "It's my railway and I'll run what I like."Boris: I love seeing different eras of modeling,
I still run my Chessie train and a modern CSX train, one nice thing about being in a club you get to run whatever you bring.
