Good morning, Everybody!

I fully recovered from the covid vaccine. I never missed a day's work, but now my sleep schedule is off. Nothing new, that frequently happens to me and could have nothing to do with the vaccine.

I managed to pull this box out as I work to get my family room Christmas set up. Last year I did not finish, this year I'm starting early!

Good Morning All. Clear, still and 52° on the SFW estate. Back to shorts and tee shirt weather yesterday, at least until Thursday when rain is back in the forecast. Last week's cold spell was quite unusual for us.

Not a whole lot going on right now, ground is too wet to work in the garden and it's too spongy to mow without leaving tractor tire ruts. I did spend some time trimming off some of the trees that the neighboring farmer cut down and piled for me to use as firewood next season. I should be shredding brush as that pile is getting bigger. Maybe in another day or so. None of it is really pressing. Right now the local birds are having a feast on the hackberries in the tree pile. Indoors it was laundry day again since there was too much for Thursday's load.

It's still lazy times out in the train shed. Although I did run some more trains, mainly to return some to the staging yard that I emptied Thursday. Two of them did get run to other locations and I prepared another for an "out and back" switching run for the next time that I run them, probably today.
Finished painting a couple more figures and sent 28 of them to the paint shop for dull coating.

Those two seated engineers come from Kato engines if I recall correctly. This morning, I will flip them all over and spray the other sides.
I also started painting two more bicycles.

Thursday I still had one set of handlebars on that sprue, it disappeared so now I will have to fabricate two sets. I haven't given up on finding the lost one on the floor yet, but I think that it is a lost cause; especially given the small leaves and grass clippings that I have tracked in that settled under the workbench. The other set disappeared years ago.

Terry - After my grandmother gave me my first Tom Swift book, Tom Swift and His Jetmarine, I immediately discovered a whole shelf in the local library with those books. I checked them out and read many. But I liked the Hardy Boys better.
Tom O - My IPod is beginning to show some signs of aging, hesitates and skips songs. Bit of a bummer.

Everyone have a great day. I'll be in an hour later tomorrow, be sure to det your clocks back and while you're at it, check those smoke detector batteries.

Good morning from a late start in So. Central Wisconsin. 36f degrees now and heading to mid 50’s.

The granddaughter who I am told never sleeps in past 7am slept to 8:30 this morning and I was just awake at 8:15. We are heading out to the pool. We already Facetimed her mom this morning who today turns 42. The SIL has an adult brunch/Badger football/birthday celebration planned for 10 with the kickoff on TV about 11:15. The grandson is heading over to a friends this morning for most of the day and the granddaughter is getting picked up later for a supervised group outing to the local zoo.

I will watch the #1 ranked Badger Women hockey at 1:00 on TV and then attend the #2 ranked Volleyball team game on campus. So basically a full relaxed day for me and if I can get to the train room it will be to run some trains only.

enjoy the day

I failed to mention the passing of one of my heroes,
Frank Oliver Howard (August 8, 1936 – October 30, 2023), nicknamed "Hondo", "the Washington Monument" and "the Capital Punisher"
I became a fan of Frank Howard when he played for the Washington Senators. Being from Baltimore we could listen to the Senators games on the radio. When the Orioles weren't playing of course. Frank Howard was one the Original Texas Rangers in 1972 when the Senators moved to Arlington Texas. Frank Howard's Lifetime Statistics at Baseball Reference.

Speaking of the Texas Rangers, I failed to congratulate them and their fans! Congratulations to the Rangers and all thier fans!

The Rangers won their first World Series by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks four games to one. Along the way the Rangers won eleven road games in the playoffs! Since Mel Allen is not here I will say it "How about that!?"

Good morning. It's clear and 71.
I took the car in at 7:15 to have the oil changed, not because of mileage, but because it's been 6 months, and oil changes every 5k/6 months are included with the price of the car. I've only put 3200 miles on it in 6 months, but it is bad for a car to start it, drive it a mile, then shut it off twice a day.

Good morning. Happy Saturday! 42° and overcast. Going to 59° ,(or more). Only went to 34° overnight. Next week will be milder than the past week, but not what I consider warm.

Today, is shaping up to be a good train room day. Villanova Football is at New Hampshire this afternoon, both teams are named "Wildcats" . Season is almost over, only games with Towson, and at. Delaware remain. Villanova Basketball opens Monday against American U. Caps are at home tonight vs. Columbus. Meanwhile, the Devils are now down two "Superstars"...we will see just how much depth they really have, eh?

The yard is covered with leaves...maybe, I'll get some out to the curb. Public works will start picking up on Monday.

Now that I have had all my "seasonal" immunizations, I'm thinking about rolling the dice over the Shingles "immunization". I was going to get it before the Covid Lockup began, then when the wife had a reaction, I decided to wait. Now I know the reaction was from Rinvoq, the RA drug, so it is time to roll the dice and either get the shots, and risk a reaction, or not getting the shot and risking Shingles. 🎲...

Enjoy your weekend.
Frank Oliver Howard (August 8, 1936 – October 30, 2023)
I meant to say something when I saw this, last Monday, in particular that he was one of the last Washington Senators, which to me as a Baseball fan was important. I had difficulty finding information about him, and gave up searching. I used to listen to Senators
games on 1500 WTOP, and had been ever since I learned Mickey Vernon from Marcus Hook, was a star on the Senators. Back in the day, AM radio was the greatest thing for a young baseball fan.

LOUIS - I was cheering them on all the way. I never thought they would take the title with 4 straight wins - and I actually thought that the D-Backs would win to start with.
Surprising ... as usually the team I "pull for" -- losses?

Good to see the Lionel Christmas Zephyr again - have you run this ever? I cannot remember!

Yes, sir it was! I used to sleep with my transistor radio. Even the talk shows were good. Rex Barney, Paul Blair, Billy Hunter, and many more hosted great talk shows. Intelligent, polite, and respectful. Good luck finding that anywhere on the AM dial now. Or anywhere in the broadcast media for that matter.

I ran it a few Christmases when I first moved into this house. It is magnificent and worth every penny I paid for it! Health and other problems have kept getting in the way recently.

I already have some tracks laid out and the Nativity set up. God willing, it won't be much longer she will run again! My wife wants to make a video of it when we get everything set up. I hope to share it with you.

Thanks for remembering and asking.

As for the World Series, With the Orioles eliminated I would have been happy no matter who won. The Rangers eliminated the Orioles so I can think the Orioles were the second-best team in 2023. :D
