Morning!
Not gonna say 'good', because it's the day after a mini blizzard. Only 5F outside and there's snow drifts that need shovelled clear.
I shovelled twice yesterday. That's not uncommon around here.
All the shovelling does cut into my modelling hobby. It's always about the expending of energy and never about the cold. Sometimes I just use up so much energy that it's difficult to create the mindset to model on. I need a rest.

Jaz - I really do love that impressionist painting you did of the steam engines. Well done, indeed.

The time change is more of an annoyance than anything else. For me, it's either daylight outside, or it's not daylight outside. I'm not ruled by a job.
I like this clock:

It's been showing 2 o'clock for about the last 100 years. Always says it's nap time. The clock was my great grandmothers, and it's a fine clock. The only clock I need.

I'm going to go outside to clean the walks as soon as daylight hits. It's supposed to be sunny today. However, that storm is supposed to swing back this way come tomorrow.
Often, the storms just make a big circle, and keep coming back to pound on the front door. It's all part of nature's plan to keep us inline.

H'mmm. It's nearly 7:30am and still not daylight outside. I guess the clock change isn't working out.

Have a great day!
McLeod: Many many moons ago when I was working in Engineering the director noticed that I did not have or wear a watch. I got a solid reprimand just for that. I have always known what the time is pretty much within 5 minutes and told him I could prove it. Didn't matter, get a watch or ???. Well my Uncle had died about a year before this and somehow I ended up with his watch. Cute thing, white face dark hands so I strapped it on. For the next few weeks at work the director checked for my watch and smiled at me when he saw it. One day sitting in a meeting next to him, he noticed that my watch had stopped. Told me 'Your watch stopped'. My reply was 'It has never worked as long as I have had it'. You should have seen the smoke coming from the back of his neck. He did not say anything. Next day HR shows up wondering what was going on. Told them the director told me to get a watch. Eye brows raised. Then I said 'He didn't say it had to work'. Kept working there for a another 2 years before I decided to move on.

Later

I am confused. What is the criteria for political. Post #213 talks of politicians lining their pockets. No POLITICAL. Surely talking about politicians is political. Joe made, what I thought a humorous poke at the real world we live. After all, what pipeline is Willie going to shut down. That got a POLITICAL. So, I ask, what is the criteria for political?
I'm pretty sure I crossed the line.

I just looked at the clock on the wall and panicked. "i missed the kickoff!!!"

I forgot to change that clock, thank God.

Two good games today at 1pm.

Minnesota at Washington and Buffalo at the Jets.

I just read that the Washington Commanders could sell for seven billion dollars!!! That leaves me out of the bidding.

Very like mine, which worked but my mother in law hated the chimes and instead of say so stopped it…permanently :( Having paid once to make it a goer not inclined to do so for sone other bugger to shut it up.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is Dutch. I'm surprised you would know that.
Mother had it repaired once by a clock shop. They actually tried to substitute it with a copy, without her knowledge. But she knew, and got the real one back pronto.
Apparently, it is one of only four that were made. I saw a photograph and write-up of it in a 1960's magazine.
I can't see that it's worth anything. It's just a broken clock after all. It's just a wall hanging to me, and only kept because it's an heirloom; I suppose.

It's a cool damp day here so I decided to continue on with my stuccoing project. I stared redoing all the stuccoing on the house this year. I can only do so much at one time because my back starts aching. I'll see how it looks when it dries then I'll decide if it needs another coat. You don't want it drying out to fast When the moisture's gone the bonding stops.

Loko-Kitty is celebrating because I super-cleaned his 💩 pooping palace!

For those not familiar, the bases senses when his 10 lb fuzzy butt gets in... waits 15 minutes, then the dome rotates. The clean litter drops through a grate into a holding cell. The clumps stay on top, and eventually, it rotates far enough for them to drop through a hole into the tray beneath.

Per instructions, I take it outside 2x per year, hose it down, clean it well with white vinegar (and some spot treatments). Since this is likely our last good weekend of the fall that I'll be home for, it was time.

PS: Don't push the middle button. That dumps ALL the litter, not just the clumps

Afternoon All,

Was delayed this morning walking because of rain. Speaking of which it looks like we're going to get clobbered by a a Tropical Storm or Hurricane this coming Wed-Fri. The projected track covers the entire state. Not good for the people still dealing with flooding issues. Ran some errands today which included buying 9v batteries for the smoke detectors which will be changed tomorrow.

Guy- Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Beautiful clock.

Joe- I would be very sorry to see you go.

Jaz- Great paintings and model steamers. There's something about the beauty of British steam that we can't match across the pond except maybe during the streamlining period.

Willie- I have one of those platforms (honestly don't know where it came from) that I modified to be a inspection platform at the diesel facility.

Dave- Neat photo and video. I like how you got the people and equipment movement.

I hope everyone has a good night.

It is. I have both models but searching for them in boxes to take piccies is just beyond me atm. not a great copy but it was a tribute for the other half who is A4 mad, I think he owns most of the A4s ever produced by Hornby.
They built 35 A4's, so that's a lot of model A4's to run round your layout.

I think that's a pretty accurate depiction of the Loco's, they're my favourites simply because I got to ride the footplate of both, I've never shovelled so much coal so fast in my life. :D

Did you get pictures!
I did, about 25 of them, some from the footplate, also had some great shots looking out over the front of Scotsman as we came into York, and a few of me shovelling coal on the footplate, and of George driving her, plus a couple from when she was in bits having a renovation done at Steamtown where I worked, had them for years, only had a few of Mallard, took them when she went off to the National Railway Museum at York, a couple from Gresley and 10 or so of a Black 5, Pendennis Castle, but when I got divorced, my ex destroyed them all.🤬
