I think it is a common misconception that apple phones are made in China. Unless you include Taiwan, I don't know of anything apple has being made in China.
I don't believe that is an entirely accurate statement. Apple makes lots of products in China, but is moving them to India and Vietnam now due to ongoing Covid restrictions.
Apple moving production

In other news, my wife is making her wonderful fried chicken breast. Think schnitzel, I love it!

Viktor Orban might be an idiot, but I know for a fact Hungary has many great people. I think my wife is the best of them :D
I think victor like a lot of leaders has a difficult time, Brxstopped their easy access to our cash, Covid caused mayhem and is, the Russians have scared the EU, NATO etc, and China, N Korea, Iran are in the mix, trying to appease so many people is not easy, our politicians have never experienced so many waves of uncertainty, which of curse spoked the financial institutions, be grateful every e is discussing recessions, as the scary truth is a depression globally could align, and there are many countries in serious food poverty, and the usual charity bail out countries are struggling themselves. Anyone or group of them that managed to navigate our countries (each country being buffered0 to a safe port after this is over will havaverted a major disaster. There is going to be losses along the way, just hope we all ave something to hang on to in the long run.

Oh and i am sad to see another layout will have to be torn out, but the fact is life happens, and you had the enjoyment ad skills to make a lovely layout I loved the wate feature, and knowledge is never lost, it will just be stored in your bran and pictures, after Smudgesxperience I would advice people to take copies of precious family photos and upload to a safe spot.
We may also be doing a tear out from one loft and moving to the older one, the new loft has the equivalent of 4x 11x11 rooms, and is insulated and has velux windows, if family lose homes or jobs we may need the room, so far we are good, but in the present climate, you just do not know. my brother in law wants to sell and rent as he is concerned that his property ell take a hammering due to location despite being a beautiful property. We have annexe if forced to compromise, and no mortgage so safer than a lot but husband company has said there will be layoffs around/after Xmas, we will see what life has to throw at us, and hopeful stay afloat.
Better to consider the poor options, than get hit in the face with no warning.

People back up your photos and memories, put important paperwork in sandwich bags so waterproofed! you never know when the shxx will hit the fan.

We personally have been out gathering wood, testing rfor humidity piling it in case we get black outs this year, hopefully the wood stoves will not be a waste of money, and our own wood from the arboretum help with cost hikes. We thought ourselves safe in the 90s when interest went t over 15 percent and I fell pregnant, well there went the house and a big debt we were very lucky to climb out from under.

We bought some wood for the wood burner that we know is dry and prices have jumped, ash is already out of stock with a big dealership, had to get hardwood mix, and I expect will continue to jump to eye watering levels, sighs….depressed myself….going to feed birds.

Orban is not the same man who led Hungary out of the Eastern bloc. Seems to me he is using some of Putin's playbook to keep control of his power and position.

That is as close to the political line I will come. Probably too far, but I did not want to ignore you Jaz.

I'm still at home because Amazon is offering too low pay to inspire me to move.

Too many out of state drivers taking the low pay, $18-$20 per hour. To them it seems good compared to $7.25 minimum wage in their home state.

Right now, it is a little slow. When they go back to $30+ an hour I will get up off the couch.

Taiwan is most certainly not colluding with the people's republic of China.

Troy do you have one of these ?
Nope... and all but one of those on the shelf are non-functional

I friend I worked with gave me most of these...

The Polaroid is my grandfather's. But the bellows leak. Despite that, I got a new skin for it. You can see much, but it's the British Union Jack motif. I was painting an army of British WWII soldiers at the time, so it sounded like fun.

I do miss polaroid...

The iPhone's Assemblers

The components manufactured by those companies all around the world are ultimately sent to just two companies to assemble into iPods, iPhones, and iPads. Those companies are Foxconn and Pegatron, both of which are based in Taiwan.

Phones and football. Watched the Washington whoever they are this week hand the game over to the Vikings in the last quarter. Typical 4th quarter strategy of theirs.
My Galaxy A20 can hold about 2 dozen pictures when the storage is full. It has the bare minimal apps on it and I give it a reboot every few days just to clear the cache. The main thing I use if for beside phone calls and text message is to listen to talk radio while on the Goldwing. It hosts Android Auto which is the basis for the streaming ability.
Yesli Vega will be in town today. I'll go over to the church parking lot where she is speaking today and encourage her aspirations for Congress.

Morning all,

43° and partly cloudy this morning, headed for a high of 62°. Rain starting overnight and most of the day tomorrow.

Didn't get to the trains yesterday as we had to make phone calls as one of my wife's aunt's and a cousin passed away (The aunt a week ago and the cousin on Friday). Both on her dad's side of the family, The cousin was a nephew to the aunt that passed.

Jaz: Sadly I know who Gamora is...or not. I am waiting for Vol.3 to come out in May.

Funny story: The wife told my sisters that our youngest granddaughter was 3 going on 22. When talking with the youngest daughter yesterday, the granddaughter was asked what she wanted for Christmas. She said "I want a man!" Cracked both the wide and I up and when we explained to our daughter why, she started laughing as well....

Hi from Wisconsin.

A day of business related stuff. After a stop at the post office this morning when they open, it is interview time. Terry and I are going to talk together to every employee today individually and probably terminate a couple of the stable team leaders, the landscaping team leader and the property manager. I know for sure the property manager. I have known that for a few weeks. I have been putting this off while Terry has been gone as the stables are her baby but it’s time. The issue of selling the stables to staff has definitely backfired on us to the point if affects the other things around the staff and property. It is time to cut out the known instigators. We Zoomed with the HR expert in the family for some additional guidance, the SIL. He is in Vegas as a speaker at a HR gathering, he was surprised to hear everything we had to say. Yes, I have the replacements in mind and Terry approved. I will handle the property for now, she her stables. The SIL when he returns he said he could help me.

It never has been easy for me to terminate anyone no matter the circumstances except for 1 embezzler who I just introduced to the police.

enjoy the day

Good morning all,

It is hunting season in Minnesota and lots of people in orange, also trucks parked along the roads everywhere,

Curt - thanks for commenting on the logging video! It took a while to edit but I like it, had lots of spare time when I made that one

Jaz - I am clueless about any superhero. I like hearing about your wood supply efforts. I was a logger for over 20 years, also went to college for Forestry have a Bachelor of Science degree. The practical part I learned the hard way, however

Ken - I heard the Vikings won again wouldn't that be something if this was their year?

I worked quite a bit on the layout yesterday, made and planted 4 trees (pic pending) also tried my luck at making some whitewater where water cascades down the St. Croix and Rush Creek tributary:

(pic of water spray just above the pond)

I think it looks ok, may tweak a little...

Will be back more today...

I was disappointed with the outcome, but I enjoyed the game immensely! I can't recall a game with so many great open field solo tackles by both teams. Washington's defense is first rate and fun to watch! Minnesota's defense is top notch too.

Good Morning All!
26F with 2in of white.

Y'all know how strange stuff happens right? In an earlier post I told about a watch when I was working in 1987. Well, pulled a box of train stuff from a top shelf and this jumped out first. I managed to catch it before it hit the floor.
IMGP0494.JPG

So, is it a sign of the times? Time to do something? What? I don't remember purposely saving it way back when, I guess that it is what it is.

Today is run around and get all the tools and crap under cover while we still can find them. Gonna pull the battery from the lawn tractor, then cover it with a tarp right where she sits under the maple tree. Then some inside stuff Maria wants to get done. Have a bake sale at the local grocery so I probably will go with her for that. After that, will start putting up the new lights in the train cave and get the wiring fastened down proper.

I still have some work on the web site, most of which allows me to insert pix and text without dealing with the whole nine yards. Not much data in it right now although I can see it growing in the very near future. Still have a thrown together logo that really needs help. Inkscape to most is pretty easy, I seem to have a hard time with it at times. Hmmm. time again. Anyway I guess that I am not in a big hurry so if it happens today, good. If not it will happen sometime.

Later

Oh, Terry - where and when are you moving? Sorry to see the layout go away. Maybe you can figure something out just to have something to tinker with.

Our 34 pound dog (who thinks he's a lot bigger) chased a good size buck for about a quarter mile this morning, crossing a road while chasing it...

My wife had to chase it with the golf cart. I would laugh, but I was too worried about him crossing the road like that. We're a good 700-800 feet back. He's a fast little bugger, kept up with that deer (well, sort of) for about a minute before realizing he was losing ground and maybe it wasn't going to happen this time either.

The folks that own the lad to our West / Northwest have a horse pasture that adjoins our back yard. The fence line needed cleaned up, so I spent a few hours Saturday morning clearing out saplings and brush piles so we can keep our view of the horses.

Then, we watched the Ohio State / Northwestern Game at the fishing shack by the pond. Beautiful day, but quite windy. Would have been nice to fire up the burn pile and get rid of all the sticks that have dropped... there are more

Then Sunday, we emptied and cleaned the fishing shack. That was an all-day chore.

Apple actually manufactures a lot in China (at least assembly). Most iPhones come from China. Some from India, Brazil, and maybe a few other places. However, most of the components used in the assembly are not from China, and their assembly partners are all Taiwan based companies I think, who have Chinese factories. I wish it were otherwise, but the facts are that they do a lot of assembly type manufacture there though most of the electronic components come from elsewhere (some screens and stuff may be made in China -- the mix changes), as I understand it.

However, the software, does NOT come from China and there is really no vector for it to be compromised. Everything is cryptographically signed and secured and any monkeying around with the finished images shipped to the manufacturers to load into the phones would be very hard to tamper with.

This one still works I just have no use for it anymore Also have a telephoto lens and some kind of filters for it I do have one box of slides from it that I took Just have to figure out how to scan them
They are 2 3/4 in square Maybe on my flatbed scanner

Also have a Zeiss Ikon Continna camera from the mid 50's The Yashica is from about 1968 or so The Zeiss has a built in meter still works no battery needed

Seem to remember having a Polaroid but long gone
