Good morning from the divided State of Wisconsin. The predictors are saying it will go one way. Per Terry if goes that way we maybe leaving. But, I am not sure I will do that! Tuesday night and Wednesday will be fun here in the homestead.

It is 44f degrees but feels like 31 it’s heading to 53. It’s windy in the teens but so much better then yesterdays gusts in the 50’s with driving rain.

The SIL is presenting at a HR conference in Las Vegas this week and flew out at 6:40 this morning and is in Minneapolis waiting for a plane that isn’t there yet per the daughter. I will have the granddaughter this morning as her brother plays the game on ice. She wants scrambled eggs, something I can definitely handle.

Not too much done on the layout with replacing the track but I had 2 spurts of 30 minutes working. Sold some items.

The stable’s vet still in school to get her license wants to meet this afternoon. She is the lady the 2 staff went down to Mexico to bring back and we had to bail them out of the local Mexican jail. She was a vet in Mexico but needed some classes here in the USA. She graduates in January and is supposed to work for the stable for 24 months to pay off her loan for school. This should be interesting!

Do we really need it to be light outside at 6am + ? and dark at 🕟 pm?

Good Morning All. Clear and 57°, headed up to 80° later on. The NWS has thrown the previous forecast out and given us a new one for this week. It's still going to be warm through Thursday, but the rain for Friday has been rescheduled for tomorrow. Maybe it will make up for the rain/tornadoes that I didn't get last Friday.

Had a good trip to Dallas yesterday to drop off my wife. I got to visit my granddaughter and her Dad for a bit before heading over to Discount Model Railroad and shopping for me. I didn't make any sort of list ahead of time because I did that about a month ago, I just went to browse and spend $$$. I mostly bought structures, detail parts, vehicles but no rolling stock. I already have as much as I need. Probably too much as a matter of fact. However, I did not unpack the box and it sits out in the train shed as we speak.
On the way home, I stopped by Home Depot and Tractor Supply to browse mower/tractors. The fellow at Tractor Supply advised me to wait a few weeks until they have a clearance sale. Since I am in no hurry, I can wait. At HD, they have a greater selection, and you order and pay there and it's delivered from a warehouse a few days later. Next week I will go to Lowe's and the John Deere dealership to look. I'm still torn between a zero turn and a traditional tractor.

So it's my second day of "home alone", I'm not sure what is in store. Since the living room rearrangement last month didn't get any notice/comments, I may try something else just as aggressive.

Thanks as always for the likes yesterday.

I started moving along on the build of the tank car loading platform out in the train shed yesterday. Since I have built three of these previously, I was able to navigate past the Walther's instruction errors/omissions, starting with this one.

Part #14 is mislabeled in the upper area. I overcame that and continued.

Than an oopsie!

Then we come to a typo.

After some assembly, I have two major components to join together.

To be continued. Yes, more confusing instructions coming up.

Guy - Walther's instructions leave a lot to be desired to begin with, but I haven't run across any of their kits that didn't include them in the box.
That's more snow than we usually get in an entire season.
Tom O - Wetlands as well! I always knew about the quarry but not the wetlands and pond/swimming hole. I still think it's a shame that you are having to sell.
Curt - While any Ethanol facility is massive, I don't intend to use all of the available 25' x 2' for it. The main line and passing siding are set back from the fascia from 3" to 8", it is not parallel but it angles, and while I haven't measured it yet, I guesstimate that it will be about 16' x 1' that has models on it. Much will be low-relief backdrop structures. There will be other scenery and structures at each end and some along the fascia as well. I like the concept of trains going through the scenery instead of just in front of it.
Louis/Joe/Others - I wasn't offended by any posts yesterday and I don't think any of them crossed the politics line. I believe that Terry's post was just a reminder not to take it any further. At least I hope that it was about.

Today is Glenn Fry's (The Eagles) birthday. RIP, he would have been 73.
Everybody have a great day.
Willie, the wetlands when they have some water are really cool with lots of water fowl.

We don’t have to sell but it’s just too much even though we have help. When the SIL decided to go back to his HR consulting business and then the daughter deciding she didn’t want to run the property management company that took the winds out of the sails. Even with the land sales the last few years we still are over 800 acres.

You Willie are a bold man. Going into a hobby shop without a list! I cannot do that as I may buy the whole place. Congrats on the restraint.

Morning!
Not gonna say 'good', because it's the day after a mini blizzard. Only 5F outside and there's snow drifts that need shovelled clear.
I shovelled twice yesterday. That's not uncommon around here.
All the shovelling does cut into my modelling hobby. It's always about the expending of energy and never about the cold. Sometimes I just use up so much energy that it's difficult to create the mindset to model on. I need a rest.

Jaz - I really do love that impressionist painting you did of the steam engines. Well done, indeed.

The time change is more of an annoyance than anything else. For me, it's either daylight outside, or it's not daylight outside. I'm not ruled by a job.
I like this clock:
2oclock.JPG

It's been showing 2 o'clock for about the last 100 years. Always says it's nap time. The clock was my great grandmothers, and it's a fine clock. The only clock I need.

I'm going to go outside to clean the walks as soon as daylight hits. It's supposed to be sunny today. However, that storm is supposed to swing back this way come tomorrow.
Often, the storms just make a big circle, and keep coming back to pound on the front door. It's all part of nature's plan to keep us inline.

H'mmm. It's nearly 7:30am and still not daylight outside. I guess the clock change isn't working out.

Have a great day!

Good morning all, it is 38 and the sun is showing, however quite winy

Since I did not log on yesterday and only went back one page, did not have a problem with the political discussion. Proves ignorance is bliss.

I had to do a update on my phone and my computer now everything is screwed up. They cannot leave well enough alone. Yesterday at Target wife could not check prices because she didn't have the app WE DONT WANT THE APP go jump in the lake if you want us to upload your app.

Went to the train museum in Duluth yesterday while wife went shopping. Was a great idea! Spent at least two hours there, took about 30 pics, many 1:1 displays, also they have a nice layout running, must be about 20' x 30' in size.

One really cool thing, they had this pic in the logging area of a tank loco used in northern MN with a string of log cars,

Tank loco circa 1920 northern Minnesota.jpg

So whats the big deal? I made this video using my tank loco thinking it was pure fantasy but I think it was a true thing!!!

(my video:) The locomotive enters at 3'02") this uploaded goofy for me , for some unknown reason begins at 3'56" so I had to refresh it to see the locomotive)

This seems to b e a fairly popular video for me

It is a model power locomotive.

Everyone have a great day and will be back tomorrow I think

I am confused. What is the criteria for political. Post #213 talks of politicians lining their pockets. No POLITICAL. Surely talking about politicians is political. Joe made, what I thought a humorous poke at the real world we live. After all, what pipeline is Willie going to shut down. That got a POLITICAL. So, I ask, what is the criteria for political?

Morning all,

In a bit late, Had church we don't normally do on Sundays anymore. Usually do Saturday evening because we can.

Wedding was nice. Had a nice time catching up with 2 of my sisters. Brother was a no show, but after saying he was coming, didn't bother to let anyone know he backed out. He's always been kind of a hermit anyway! I did text him and he answered (a bit surprised) so we at least know he wasn't in a hospital somewhere between Oregon and the wedding venue. I did let the nephew know that his uncle was fine. They were kind of close at one time. Reminded me that family dynamics can be as bad as politics or religion.

Stopped on the way to visit the wife's older brother whose Parkinson's has flared up. Yesterday was a good day for him. Took him and his girlfriend out for lunch. It was a nice time.

55° and clear, going for a high of 64°? We did have snow in the area yesterday. Official rain total was 3.3 inches, I misread the gauge. Once we got out of the warmer area around of town, the trees and grassy areas had a trace of snow. As in all things snow this time of year, it was gone once the sun really had a chance to rise. Doing the chores I missed yesterday and so far I'm keeping up. I really want to get some train time later.

Willie: I miss Glen Frey...one of my favorites.

For the record, I deleted my political post. There was no institutional censorship, only me.

I wrote it thinking more of decency and respect. After further review and thought it could be easily seen as political.

I need to check myself and respect the rules of this forum.

Forgive me if I have offended anyone.
I usually find skulks in the corner for a day or so works lol

Think I may be done here. It' been nice.
FYI we are usually pulled up JUST before we throw ourselves off the cliff, so a donut fight can start but all out war is avoided, and we get to let off a little steam without totally undermining the fact this is a railway forum,
I speak as someone who has on many occasions has had her wrist slapped, and am happy to not commit hari kari by the sharp edge of the word.
