Another Trainfest and open house in the can! got off surprisingly light with a couple of Tangent tank cars. Darn things are like peanuts. Once you get started you can't stop! Nicely detailed, and can be handled without breaking things if you're reasonably careful. Also heavy enough to meet NMRA weight standards.

Open house was a success. Attendance was heavy, as was Trainfest attendance, and with parking attendants taking credit cards only, it took me 20 minutes to get into the parking lot. Concessions were also credit card only. Not sure how good of an idea that was but I'm sure they had their reasons.

Getting to the toll taker for parking was very slow on Saturday. I was off I94 and up to the toll taker took 28 minutes from 8:45 to 9:13 but still enter into the hall at 9:24. 84th Ave entrance right behind the Petitt Center.

Nice cars

Afternoon All,

The AC is out again here, but at least the high today is 74 F. This is much better than mid summer temps. I started out with chores today and spent an hour on trying to get a new set of bluetooth headphones to connect to my laptop, but finally got it right. Not sure what's on the agenda tomorrow, but should include a AC repairman.

Swal- Unfortunately we get hordes (OK lot's) of New Yorker's moving to FL and of course they want to change FL to be like NY. 👎

Terry- Interesting video.

Hughie- That's a cool detail.

TomO- Nice looking centerbeams. Thanks for sharing show photos.

Louis- Nice Christmas decorations. Our next door neighbor already has his tree and wreath up!

Willie- Great photos of 4014.

Mike- Very nice paintings.

Mara- Nice haul. I really like the trim on the station.

Jaz- Beautiful drawings.

Alan- Love the logo on the tank cars.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good morning. 27f degrees feels like 19 heading to a high of 34. The winds are still brisk but today the sun is bright. I think I will be in and out of the train room all day. Maybe a grocery trip and gas station stop as we will have over $3.00 per gallon grocery discount. I noticed gas was $3.49 to to $3.89 on the return trip home from the Volleyball games on the UW campus.

I stopped by the Tangent booth at Trainfest yesterday after the camera battery passed on! I run modern, 2005 to 2015, so the caboose is not needed. I do have some transfer wagons from Fox Valley but no typical caboose. Well, if you love caboose check these out as I was so impressed until I saw the retail pricing. Definite a sticker shock. $120 USD retail.

I have an old friend who collects caboose, that’s it. No track, no cars or locomotives and he has some nice ones, many in brass. He asked me to check these out. I am truly impressed by the details and the overall. I think better then any of the brass I have seen.

I have a discount coupon for an additional 10% off at MidwestModelRailroad out of Missouri. A fantastic brick and mortar shop and a great online store too. Good pricing plus an additional coupon and decent shipping. I believe I will have to retail therapy shop today. When I checked out the vendor list I was surprised to see them in attendance. But, no inventory, just a meet and greet booth.

Enjoy the day

Edit. Daughter asked if the hockey team and at least 5 parents can come for a swim and cook out after the game today. So, Terry is rummaging through the refrigerator and freezer. My grocery list has expanded
Tom- sorry that we missed meeting up. I wasn't able to get to Midwest's booth(too crowded to get near it with the rollator). I picked up a hat pin & a 50' MR&T from Kalmbach and a set of coasters & a Chessie Sleep Like a Kitten tshirt for SWMBO from Daylight Sales. Mom picked up a Brio gantry crane from Sommerfeld& about a dozen piece of pieces of 2nd hand Brio track from ReSourced Rails for my great nephew. He likes setting up to run point to point. He does not like a continuous loop.

Alan- I think the thought process was "contactless payment"(yet the box office was cash-only, go figure). We ended up coming in off of Greenfield Ave, because the backup to turn onto 84th St from EB 94 was 3/4 up the offramp. We ended going straight & then around the block.

We used to get the same from California, but they found Texans to be rather stubborn and they were put off by "open carry". We still get Californians here but now they are coming because they know Texas isn't ever going to be like CA.

Love it. HAVE YOU GOT COPIES OF THE PLANES?
I tend to dabble, have not had time to finish Gomora yet but an update.
I like faces and animals

Jaz you slipped up and signed one picture with your name,,,,, LONG EARED OWL!
Seriously, you are a very talented lady!!!
I paint a few HO people but that is about the extent of my talent.

Thank you, I love Christmas even more than my trains. Another wonderful thing about Christmas, trains!

I miss seeing Garry's Lionel Christmas trains already. I hope somebody will use them.

Delivering for Amazon I get to see many Christmas and other holiday decorations. I even saw a few Christmas decorations and lights before Halloween! I enjoy seeing decorations.

Halloween lights and decorations have increased exponentially. Many are still up.

Curt, I keep forgetting to mention how impressed I am with your two-mile walks!

I hope to have all our Christmas trees and trains set up by December 6th, Saint Nicholas Day. I won't be upset if I fall short of my goal. Infact, I expect I will fall short. My get up and go, got up and went!

I'm already ahead of last year! Last year we only had one Christmas tree. I was sick with one thing or another for the entire fourth quarter of 2021. I did not miss a day's work, but I did little else. Most days I worked half the morning and slept on the couch most of the day. Episodes like that make me grateful for the little I can do when healthy. Healthy for me anyway.

In NFL news, the Ravens have a bye this week. The Commanders play Monday Night. So, I watched Minnesota pull a rabbit out of their hat. Buffalo handed them the hat, but the Vikings did seal the deal. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Now I have the Cowboys and Packers on. Fourteen all at half time.

They say 200.000 a month are moving out. How many are headed to FL I don't know? My neighbor moved there 3 months ago. My general practice and eye doctor moved there a few months ago. My other neighbor wants to move there. My sister moved there a few years ago. My brother moved out last year.
Swal
