Just a quick pop in....

Morning all went well thus far for my sister Becky's heart surgery thus far. She is in the recovery room (a private room) Obviously on meds so eventually she will feel lots of pain and bruises etc. The surgery was 5 hours. I am relieved to see her smiling face. I have not spoken to her but Al her husband gave me updates and a picture of her laying in the bed with her life alert dog Dottie. All is well at the moment. Now I am waiting to hear how my dad is doing with his procedure as he is in the hospital as well.

I will check in later as I am working from home sorta. I am a bit of a Zombie and did not sleep last nite as my sister is 5 hours ahead I did not go to bed. I stayed up and worked in the train room waiting to hear of news.

Thank you for those that prayed and showed concerns, it is much appreciated! Have a good day. I will post some pictures from train rooom last nite later.

It has an American link. ERS used to be part of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Hupac "bought" ERS. They are a transport company that operate in several European countries, its base is in Switserland (Basel).
No idea if this is correct or up to date.

Thanks. I'll have to check my Euro loks when we move (all packed away now) but ERS sounds familiar -- I may have some other stuff with their name on it...

Looks like ERS is now owned by Freightliner, a UK based freight company. Freightliner is in turn 95% owned by Genesee & Wyoming, a US holding company. (per Wikipedia) The other 5% of Freightliner is owned by management. G&W is in turn now owned by a Canadian "infrastructure acquisition and management" company based in Toronto, Canada.

Thanks!

Dave (PV) - Actually $228 isn't such a bad price for nine freight cars, depending on condition and extras like metal wheels and Kadee couplers.
Willie You are correct. They sell new for around $45 (if you can get them) I really only need 4-5 and in hindsight, I probably should have bid on them. I thought I was the only one needing beet gondolas. Who models sugar mills anyway?? However, after paying for the missus new quartz countertops, the railroad fund has been depleted............. ;)

Terry! :D

I need you to put your computer consultant's hat on.

What is a good photo/video editing software?
there are quite a few very good editing software packages available. The primary concern though is having the computer horsepower to operate them, especially video. Most packages offer a free trial period where you can download the basic program and try it on your machine. You might find them to run pretty slow if you have a basic no frills machine.

I use the Grass Valley Edius software on a big horsepower machine. Quite a few processors running to make the special effects and rendering process immediate.

Great answer!

Thank you Ken.

It came in today! Behold the "BEAST"! Darn thing is HUGE! Wow! I will get it on the layout tonight or maybe this afternoon.

I was glad I was home today as the package required a signature for it and well I was also surprised it arrived today because it was supposed to arrive on November 17th, later this week! All the way from Calgary, Alberta Canada! Dang! that was actually quick! Box looks in great condition as does the locomotive. I will see how it does when I put it on the track! Only thing I was disapointed about was 2 things. The typical card board sleeve did not come with this box and I thought at one time they use to use these small sticker tabs that sealed the box closed etc. So that part concerns me a little bit but we shall see how it all goes. Everything looks good and intact so far. I just have not taken it out of the box yet. I will wait until I get in the train room and get it on the layout!

Good morning all,

20° and light snow this morning, slippery roads! Only a shallow coating of snow but roads are slick in east central Minnesota this morning!

Luckily, no deer out and light traffic!

James - those cats are HUGE! our cats topped out at 12# and they would usually sleep on me. At least one or two of them. They have all passed but still enjoy thinking about them.

I worked on the Crex warehouses all weekend, got them planted "permanently" also did some ground work around them:

Here they are on the workbench, added some steps, decals, dirtied up a little

final resting place

The roofing is showing some wear from all the moves, makes them look a lot more realistic to me.

These buildings were used to store Crex grass hay which was made into grass rugs. Went out of business about 1930, however was an economic force beginning about 1900. The first building is close to the original size, the second one was actually 350' long hay storage building.

back later, Dave LASM
Wow Dave, nicely done. They fit into a great scene very well

Afternoon All,

Started out with outside chores and routine pool maintenance. The AC guy showed up and almost immediately found a bad switch on the compressor and was fixed quickly. Very reasonable cost. This was a Mom & Pop outfit we tried for the first time after the crap we dealt with our last company. Inside son and I cleared out the dining room and did deep cleaning (for Thanksgiving). Tomorrow son and I have outside chores/maintenance. When I was at the train club (old) Saturday, I saw a neat detail of a 55 gallon drum with a flickering red light and smoke coming out. I had the wife try to find the seller on FB (no website) but she couldn't find him so I ordered micro flickering red LED's to make my own. Today I also got some grass clumps from Bachmann.

Willie- FL has the "Southern Backbone" but it is continually being diluted by the newcomers from the NE utopias.

Smudge- You could of said it was a real loco and I would't of known the difference.

Louis- Actually this year we are downsizing to a table top tree.

James- Great news about your sister and good luck with your Dad.

Dave- Beautiful modeling.

Alan- Great looking diesel.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I hope your sister is feeling better James. I try to say a rosary every day. I'll add her to the list of people that need prayers. There's already a lot of people on the list. Went to visit wife, they told me It's been 3 days since my last covid test. I need to take another before entering. I said, if it's been 3 days why haven't you got her clothes up to her room yet. I dropped them off 3 hours before she was admitted I guess 3 days ago according to your records. They told me things take time.
