Good morning all!

Happy Hump Day!

Over all a cooler day than the last few. Currently its cloudy and 46F. The high is supposed to reach 67F. Should be
a mostly sunny day.

Not a lot going on here at the moment. Have some laundry to do later and a few other minor things.

Have a safe day everyone!

Pretty dog gone cool here too at 56°F. Just when I was getting used to warmer temperatures, early Spring is back. Might see 60°F today under overcast skies. It rained just a bit ago so that gets me out of cutting the grass for another day. Not sure I'd do it anyway at 56°F.

The Rod Stewart concert CBS aired last night was really good. He seems pretty spry for being 81 years old. No problems at all singing either. I saw him reaching for a couple of higher notes from time to time, but he hit all of them on key. Always liked his stuff in the 70s and 80s. His lead guitarist played a couple of nice looking Duesenbergs and his violinists were top notch.

Groceries just arrived and put them away and sat down to this thread. Coffee in hand.

Have a great Wednesday! Servus!

Good morning everyone. A super bright morning at 53f degrees heading to 62 plus high winds steady in the teens and gusting into the high 30’s. Mommy Nature just playing with the Midwest

I just asked if we were hitting the Farmers Markets this morning and the answer was NO! The last few weeks were eye openers price wise. We don’t have any rhubarb plants here (used to in previous gardens) and they were $7-9 per bunch, usually about a pound. Spinach was $6 a bunch and is only $3 at the store. She says she wants to get to the big one Saturday around the Capital building. We stopped going a few years ago because it’s a crazy event. Used to go almost every Saturday for years at 10am. But now 20-25,000 people is too much for my crowd adverse wife. But at 7am it’s less crowded and that’s what we will do weather permitting.

Some modeling time at the bench today. I was told last night in a text the person doing my laser cutting for my paper mill bleach plant was in an accident over the weekend. Will be fine per the text but is taking a few weeks off. I replied that I’m ok waiting and get better

The grandson asked if Monday I would be a race official for the slot car track as they want to race. I asked about why off from school and was told Memorial Day! Completely forgot. Told him I will let him know this evening.

One of the guys dropped off a few Merchant Row kits yesterday. Kits 1, 2, 4 and I didn’t even know there was a 6. He told me there is also a #7 too! The only structure kits I have unbuilt are 1 and 3. I have 2,4 and 5 on my layout. He is building a City on his layout with street running in the business district similar to Shakoppe, Minnesota. I knew about LaGrange, Kentucky but unaware the UP main line ran the business district in Shakoppe! So a deal was made! He took 2,4 and 5 off my layout. I will build kits 1,2, 4 and 6 from him and also build my kits 1 and 3 for him. He gave me the color instructions for his and will let me know the next couple days how he wants my 1 and 3 painted. I have built, painted and sold quite a few of the Merchant Kits and remember a few were easy to build and a couple were finicky. I have been building kits forever for him and his wife, maybe late 80’s! He has over 300 structures on his layout and I’ve built 1/3rd. His hands shake so bad he cannot build a kit but can do other things on the layout. His layout should be in the magazines but he couldn’t care less. Still runs DC and likes to see his trains moving through scenes. He will build everything up to the track. His wife will install the buildings, scenery and add the details. She is always painting the Little People for the layout. Something different from a paper mill and a good PayPal replenishment funding…

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 60°, not expected to get higher than 74° today. Maybe even cooler tomorrow. Total rainfall yesterday was 1.35", most fell around noonish. Rain has been removed from today's forecast but is back for tomorrow. Off and on for the next 10 days according to the current normally inaccurate forecast.

Yesterday's trip to Dallas went OK, we only experienced the scattered rain during the first few miles of the trip on the rural roads leading to IH35. So no traffic snarls until the return trip where we encountered a dry-road accident just north of Denton. Backup was over a mile because it was at the spot where three lanes merged into two lanes...now one lane! A different accident earlier in the trip didn't really faze us since it had just occurred on a four lane section and the emergency crews hadn't showed up yet to block off extra lanes. Our car remains at the dealership for the windshield replacement. Supposed to be ready Friday afternoon, but we'll pick it up Saturday when we're going back to North Dallas anyway. More than just pop the old one out and put the new one in! Has to set up for 24 hours and then all of the sensors and the camera need to be reinstalled and calibrated...or something like that! No problem since we have a free loaner for as long as we need it. We also have a 5-year glass replacement warranty with the car, so Lexus is footing that bill as well.

As I posted yesterday, I picked Green Beans from the garden when I returned home. Yield was 8.5 oz, or about 2 cups of trimmed and snapped beans. Perfect for one meal for two. There's more that need to be picked today (or they'll grow too big), but I had to stop because it started to rain. Can't let the hearing aids get wet!
While it didn't exactly affect us, there was a power outage along a road about 1 mile south of us yesterday afternoon. I wondered why the Weather Underground station there quit being online. Our water pressure was also lower because they had no power to the pump there. Water still flowed from input supplied from other wells nearby.

LHS = Local hobby shop or local hardware store? I guess that it depends on which side of the world that you're on.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I almost finished cleaning the ~60 structures in my quarterly layout cleaning area. Just two left. No significant changes were made and no extra detailing was done. I re-positioned a couple of signs and permanently glued down a few figures, but otherwise no major changes. I also determined what area I am targeting for my next major project. I have a roughly 24"-32" x 72" section of downtown Gainesville that has never been completed. It is just on the other side of the backdrop of the neighborhood that I just did, but is 100' by rail line from there. Most of the structures have been in place for many years, although a couple might be switched around.

I had always planned and still do, to add a triangular piece to the inside corner where Roy's Fix-It and Hal's Hobbies are. Then I can move Roy's forward to align with Hal's. The roadway on the RH side will come first.

I initially stalled because I used to make all of my grade crossings from scratch, (see pile of ties in center of first picture), but I now use Blair Line laser-cut grade crossings. A whole lot easier, so that should go rather quickly. Should be another fun project.

Tom O - Gas here is still at $3.79/gal, after briefly peaking at $4.19/gal two weeks ago.
No comment on the stock transactions.

asked him why he doubled it up when we now had spare breakers.
Looks like the same number of breakers to me?

Singer/actress Cher, is 80 today.

Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday.

One of the twins was unused, as was the GFCI.

They were two breakers in the OLD panel that were used as the Mains power in. So only 22 slots, we went to 24 slots, plus the mains above the other breakers.

If you look in the bottom left corner of the old panel, those are the two for the mains

I received a text from the shop that the "expedited" Colt Archive letters finally arrived. It took 6 weeks instead of 20 even though they called the shop a week after we placed the order and told us the info from the archives.

I'll list the two 1st generation SAA to start this Sunday. 1905 and 1906 DOM. 1906 is stunning. 1905 is bare metal, but the action still locks up tight with the hammer cocked. I don't want to list the two 2nd generation SAA until the other 2 close because it may affect bidding.

Good morning, all! A water logged morning. We have 3.25 inches in the rain gauge. Not complaining too much since we have been in near draught conditions for some time. Not a lot going on at the hobo camp. We are waiting on the son to arrive this morning.
Gassed up the truck yesterday, $3.69. There is a station charging $4.19. I didn't know techroline was that expensive.

STAY SAFE

This ain't political. I'm just stating facts.

Whoa! Just read that the proposed Oregon state gas tax increase failed by a huge margin.....83% no. The city of Tigard bond measure to massively increase property taxes for a new police and municipal building failed also....63% no. I'm unincorporated county and couldn't vote on that one, but I'm sure they would have found a way to ding me if it did pass.

There may be hope for my state.

Just came back from breakfast out.

Regular gas everywhere we passed was $4.69. Premium varied from $5.49 to $5.79. Diesel was $5.99

Breakfast was good at a new to us place. 2 of us with custom 20% tip was $60.39 no coffee, no booze! I did 20% custom because 20% on the machine was higher because they were doing the 20% including the tax. Found out about 6 weeks ago another place was doing that when we went out. I knew what the bill was and what my tip would be. When I tapped it was higher but ok my math could be wrong. At home I looked at the receipt and saw why, they added a tip to the whole bill including taxes. I’ve been checking ever since. I’m back to straight 20% even though IMO service is definitely slipping. I haven’t given a 30% tip yet this year. The best service here at home and in Austin so far this year has been the places that say no tipping necessarily as it’s included in the overall bill.

Hiya folks, 68 here and overcast, rain predicted by the weather guessers and my back. Paid 3.79 her last week to fill up the van and my Wife's Tucson. Might accidentally do some terrain work on the layout this afternoon. Church tonight, our class is on break for the summer, it will be nice to be in the regular service for the summer.

This afternoon I'm going to try my hand at dying a polymer frame from OD green to black. My replacement P99 that I've had since 2002 has the OD green frame that I hate. I bought the pistol when I knew Walther was going to radically change the frame design, but the distributor was out of the black model. I have a P99QA with the radical changes present. Not a fan, aesthetical-wise. Still an excellent firearm though.

Like an idiot, I sold my original (black) P99 that was the 237th example out of the factory. Along about the 1000 mark, they changed the trigger slightly, removed the longer hook on the front of the trigger guard, and moved the sloping hump inside the trigger guard farther back in the trigger guard. At the time, the P99 was so new, James Bond didn't even have one yet and I had no knowledge of them using that in his second movie. No one even knew what this pistol was at the gunshops. No holsters available, and no aftermarket support at all. Walther has never been very good at product promotion...still to this day.

My version has all of those subtle changes, but in addition, laser etched Walther banner, proof mark, and slide serial number, instead of the traditional roll marking Walther used on the very first models. I'm still searching for that same pistol today.
