So, going on the brilliant things we used to do that could have gotten us killed, back in my youts, I used to ride a carbon fiber/aluminum road bike and a chrome moly mountain bike with road tires on them. Used to live near the Blue Mountain Springs Golf Club (where the murders happened). Wanted to see what my top speed would be on both bikes. Lake Herman road is a few miles long, downhill and sometimes had gusts going down the hill, so I got up to speed, spinning in top gear as fast as I could. When I got to the bottom, checked my max speed on my bike computer. 60 mph on the road, 50 mph on the mountain. Ball cap on backwards for protection.

Maybe the other folks know if they do it for baseball, they probably do, but for football, they do tailgate party in the stadium parking. Eat and drink there because you can't take it inside and it is buku bucks inside. Eat too much, drink too much, drive home trashed.
Good question. I don't think they do it so much for baseball as Football.

If they do its not talked about as much. I'm sure its done to some extent though at other ball parks.

Mt team is the Chicago Cubs. Anytime we have gone to Wrigley Field, I have not seen it done. There isnt
one big parking lot everyone congregated in. Its many different venues to park offsite and shuttle busses
take you to the ballpark, so it would be harder.

Good morning all!

Happy Hump Day!

Another cool damp morning. Looks like the wind has died down quite a bit though.
More rain in store for this morning. Don't know how much rain fell in the last 24 hours
but it was a bunch. It was badly needed though. We get warn sunny weather the grass
will take off and be mowing every 3 days again.

Another busy day with graduation party prep. Mass tonight at 6pm with ceremony incorporated.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

48° and clear, high of 80° later. Winds down a bit from yesterday.

Folks about the small town I live in were posting about the rain we got with the high winds yesterday morning. My rain gauge was empty as were the ones at the kid's homes. Not sure what part of town they were in. City only encompasses about a 3x2 square mile area.

Chad: Safe travels and have a good time.

Must've been one cloud... haha

When I was growing up in Hawaii, we could walk into the wall of rain as it passed, that one dang cloud would get us soaked. I used to be able to smell the rain coming, but my schnauzer don't work so good anymore, which may be a good thing actually!

Thanks for not posting one of those most awesome breakfasts! My waistline was increasing just from looking at them!! haha

Nah, keep em coming! Gives me ideas on what to make next!
🤣 Gotcha!

Good morning all,
40f and light rain here. The forecast high is 53, which will be the warmest it's been in a few days.

All the stuff I have done that could have killed me has been on a jobsite. Machines and muscle to accomplish tasks.

Will be splitting some firewood if the rain lets up. Otherwise, puttering in the train shed.

More later,
Dave LASM

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 59° here on the SFW estate. Only reached 80° yesterday with the northerly winds. The ever changing forecast now calls for 90° today and tomorrow with low-60's at night. Pleasant weather but unfortunately too cool to uncover the pool yet. I'm usually using it by Memorial Day but not this year.:( Forecast still has thunderstorms in it for Monday.

Yesterday was spent out in the yard mostly. I used the weedeater and push mower in assorted places. Then I drug out some partially cut logs out of the undergrowth to load up today and move to the firewood stack. More than half of this batch is going to require splitting, some will need to be cut to 16"-18" lengths as well. Picked another batch of Green Peas from the garden. Peas are done for this season. They are especially temperature sensitive and that one day that it hit 96° about two weeks ago shocked them. All blossoms fell off the plants and no additional ones have emerged. Those that had been pollinated are maturing but that is it. It happens some years. That's it for my "cool season" crops until fall. It's unfortunate though, as the two weeks since that day have been perfect growing weather for them. So now I turn my attention to Tomatoes. I have dozens of golf ball-sized ones all over the plants.

Today starts with an appointment with my dental hygienist at 10:00. It's the only medical type appointment that I have that's close, at just 12 miles away. I have been using this dentist for 11 years now after my previous one retired due to health reasons. I didn't know it at first, but I used to use his father 45 years ago in a different city! I knew that the name was the same but didn't know that they were related. Afterwards I will mow and work with the firewood.

Out in the train shed yesterday was no different than many of the previous days. I guess that I am just in a project funk, as I ran trains again. But after all, that's why it's there to begin with. I did spend a little time at the workbench dabbing some paint on a few figures that needed completion, as that's always a good fill-in project that doesn't require much setting up.

Tom O - If I haven't already posted it, have a safe trip. Try to enjoy the wedding and certainly enjoy the golf in Maui.
Todd - Fortunate to have found the cat when you did, or you would be airing the RV out again. I hate the vendors that need a "voided check". Most of our direct deposit accounts just needed a correct routing number.
Mike -
I don't think they do it so much for baseball as Football.
I think that it is because many baseball games are on weekday nights and folks have to work the following day.

Y'all have a great hump day today. Be safe.

I was posting about deer destroying roses the other day. I woke up this morning and checked the camera over the driveway. Those giant rats munched their way through my roses along one side of the driveway about midnight. Thankfully it was only about a half dozen. I have about 20 bushes along the side of the house, but the dog would have sensed them and gone Cujo if they had.

Oh yeah! I worked in a shipyard. Ships in drydock, ships being constructed with whole bows being craned overhead, my head spinning around to ensure I wasn't under or near that stuff. Welding, scaffolding, rigging. Getting all that stuff into the ship and then powering it up, making sure that I wasn't the fusible link.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, travellers, and Bike Racers,

It's Troy again.

It's 55 and drizzly in Gettysburg. Inside the museums day today, head home tomorrow.

Anyone have a favored road SOUTH out of GBurg? I need to get down to I-68 in Maryland without twisty mountain road. The GPS route reeeeeealy wants to save me 20 minutes of driving and won't show the southern route of 68 to I70 through W Va then to Columbus OH,

Oh, and we found the 19th Indiana monument yesteray:

Just take US15 South to Fredrick, which is where I-70 is.

Troy: Can't remember a specific route. Sounds like you have a 'stand alone' GPS. Grab you cell phone, surf to maps.google.com and put Columbus as your destination. Phone should already know your current location. That *should* give you options.

heard, to watch it live its more of a feast and drinking, because the games are taking so long :D but this could also be a myth iam not sure :)
Baseball is like a suspenseful novel, You are never quite sure of the outcome. It appears to last forever, but the average length of the game really isn't much longer than sports that rely on clocks to determine length. The perception is different because there is no time limit. I see more drunks at NFL games. But to those so inclined, any sporting event is a reason to "over indulge in food and beverage".
Baseball is incompatible with impatient people. I can listen to the game on radio, while working on my layout, for instance. Same with football and Hockey.

Baseball is the only professional sport I enjoy going to. My wife and I used to use her fathers lower box season tickets, at Candlestick, to watch the 1980's-1990's Giants. There were days in June that the fog would come in and we never made it past the 6 inning. Drive 5 miles south and it was 80 degrees. Mark Twain was definitely correct with "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in SF."

Now, I much prefer the smaller minor league fields. AAA players are just as good as the majors, but you are closer to the action. Heck, we used to go down to Corvallis and watch the OSU Beavers play during 2016-2018 when our son was there. College ball is great. They're all trying to to impress the pro scouts.

Good morning. Waiting on the HVAC guy to come for AC setup, although by the look of the rain, he might cancel. Only going to 58° today.
Survived the MRI yesterday...Waiting on results....have to schedule with the Neurosurgeon. Life is fun as one ages, eh?

Panthers beat the Canes - game 1 - Eastern Final. Edmonton @ Dallas tonight.

Good Morning All!

46F @ 73% and sunny.

Fun last night. About 2330 Maria heard the dogs barking - well barking is a misnomer - they were screaming. So she grabs a flashlight and ventures out into the back 40, spotted the back gate open and heard rustling in one of the trees. Figured out which tree - low and behold the dogs had treed a black bear about 3 times the size of a big German Shepard. Flashlight? Boy, I did not hear a thing, but I did admonish her about taking more than just a flashlight. Grab the 45 whenever you hear something like that. Anyway, bear finally either fell out of the tree or jumped splatting on the ground then scooted over the back fence with dogs following. Nobody had any cuts, scrapes or bruises so we good. No clue on how the gate opened, think the bear jumped on top of it and the bouncing unlatched the thing.

We were gonna make a CostCo run this am, but she had trouble getting to sleep - so tomorra.
