Good morning, Everybody!

It's 54 under cloudy skies in southeast Baltimore. With a high of 61 forecasted for today! The low for the next two days is supposed to be only 49! WTF is going on! I don't know, but I'm putting something in the oven tonight!

Have a great day Everybody!

Hey, the Kool-Aid is Free! All you can drink! ;)

I’ll mix my own, Lemonade is my favorite!

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who know what a "handle" of booze is.

It's Troy again.

The big drive home day. I'm counting on 12 hours on the road with meal and pee stops. Google maps says it's about 9 hours to get home, but we know how that goes. And with wet pavement on the highways, I'd rather drive safe than fast.

Loius's idea of 15 down to 70 was good, but chatting with the innkeeper, I'll leave town the other direction, and flee like Bobbie Lee did. Chambersburg pike to well, Chambersburg, hit 81 south down to 70. Make sure I take the ramp from 70 to 68 west so I avoid paying outrageous tolls for the Penn Turnpike.

Which reminds me, I need to stop for gas. I wonder if Ike's gas pumps are still open?

Those were next to the barn by the main house. There's another over on the south side barns, too. Notice the "contains lead" sign on the side. I don't need leaded gas. Better stop at a real gas station.

And, for you golfers, Ike had a putting green right outside his home on the farm:
The flag has 5 stars

Not sure if they'd let you bring a putter and ball, and knock a few in???

Coffee this time please...

Been a busy week, after thirty five odd years I finally decided it was time to learn to drive a car and last week I passed my driving test!! Now the proud owner of an old but reliable low mileage Ford Focus:

Good morning all it’s 59f this morning and a high of 78f suppose to get rain next day or two. Probably more spring thunderstorms.

I’m in the model shop this morning working on a miniature chair I thought I would share with you all.

It’s called a spindle chair and I’ve been doing allot of turning on my taig lathe for this chair. Finally have all the turning done and the chair is glued up drying. Next some stain and finish and then a woven seat cushion and the project will be ready for the display case.

In the seasonal ritual of putting the heavy blankets away, I was up in the loft just now and started digging through my boxes of train stuff. In my N gauge loco box, I found an Atlas SP Black Widow Trainmaster. I don't remember this one, so I brought it down. This thing took over 7 volts to start spinning, so I cleaned the wheels and tried to get it to start moving fwd. It was irky jerky.

I just happened to look at the box and saw that it was DCC equipped. Neat! Really don't remember this one. So connected the DCC to the N track and programmed it. It took the settings and everything works as it should. Being that it is DCC and I never had a system, this is the first time being run.

While in my box, I also noticed that I have 4 empty Digitrax decoder bags for Kato locos, so am going to have to go look for them. Don't know where those decoders ended up. Almost like Christmas again.

Atlas website says May 2000 when it was released.

Man, I was thinking that was going to be a really nice comfy chair until I got to the last pic. Holy moly!

The included decoder is probably a Lenz. While they're acceptable, they don't really play well with others.

Morning all,

KG got the weather for the Doo Dah area this morning.

Last day before my now 4 day holiday weekend. Not really doing much, I do have to finish the youngest granddaughter's birthday present. I made her a stand for PEZ collection. The older 3 got theirs long before she was born, so she's just getting caught up. I still have to cut the lock strip and then the sawtooth hangers on the back. Lock strip is a piece of edge trim for plastic paneling. I make them so they can either be hung on a wall or placed on another shelf or dresser top.

Good morning gang!

Cold misty morning with light rain, as Louis stated, gonna be a "raw" day or 2 with a high of 61°. Yuck! Work today then doing brake and exhaust work on the wife's car. 2 sets of pads, 4 rotors and a new muffler. Easy stuff. Much easier in a heated shop with a lift than at home on the garage floor!

Time for coffee, BBL

Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 62°. Despite the updated forecast yesterday, it only reached 87° and may do the same today. However they have added afternoon thunderstorms today for us. Still predicting much cooler than normal weather for next week. I'll take it!

Nothing special about yesterday's visit to the dental hygienist except my regular one was out, having just had a baby two weeks ago. I got the dentist's wife who was filling in. No difference otherwise. After that was done, I came home and mowed, and mowed, and mowed some more. Only stopped briefly when I ran out of gas in the NW corner of the yard, as far away from the full gas cans as I could be! For the day, I mowed about 2.5 acres of the 3 that I have to do. While most was in the 5"-8" tall range, one area by the pond that was too wet on the last go-around was in excess of 12" tall. I usually don't do that many acres at once, but it was all in pretty sorry shape. The dew should be dry this afternoon for me to finish off the remainder; the SW corner where the septic leach field makes it grow faster, and the difficult area between the house, woodpiles and pool. Didn't feel like cooking last night, so we went to the Italian place in town. We went a bit early and got served before the two large parties of 12@ came in with graduation balloons.

Weekly grocery trek today, wife won't be going. She has a really early hairdresser appointment this morning at 8:30, only open slot due to all of the other moms and grandma's getting ready for the upcoming graduations. While we are not going to the actual graduation of grandson #1, we are going to a party at his house Saturday. Wife decided that she wasn't going to sit in an outdoor stadium for 3+ hours in the hottest part of the day for a class of over 500 students. I agreed especially since they have no beer stand in the HS stadium. In addition to mowing, I still have to move firewood, since I didn't get to it yesterday.

After all of the mowing and other yardwork, I went out to the train shed for a bit. I finished up the lighting project and successfully flipped the switch. I also reviewed supplies since I will be within a couple of miles of the LHS on Saturday when I go to North Dallas for the graduation party. While grandson is not #1, he is in the top ten of his class.

Joe -
Life is fun as one ages, eh?
Retirement just gave me more time to see doctors to tell me what I already knew.
Todd - Your wildlife is a tad more dangerous than mine. We had a mountain lion roaming the neighborhood for a few years, but it disappeared a couple of years ago. It shied away from humans rather quickly. I have a few pictures of it from various walks that I took near dusk.
John - Congratulations. I'm still surprised by big city folks who don't get a drivers license as soon as they are old enough. We lived in Brooklyn NY, and my mother didn't learn to drive and get her license until we moved to Texas and she was 33! I have a 70 YO cousin still in Brooklyn who has never learned to drive and has never had a license. She takes subways and trains everywhere. I didn't wait; at the time, I could get my learners permit at age 13 and full license at 14. They changed the law soon afterwards and raised the age.
Kusojiji - I too often surprise myself when I sort through boxes of train stuff. But I do not have any engines or other rolling stock packed away. Mostly I find detail parts that I don't remember buying.

Everybody have a wonderful day today. Stay dry if you are in the Northeastern area.
