Good Morning All. Clear and 49°. That's about 10° below the average for this date! Mid-70's later on which is also lower than our average. Same old forecast with thunderstorms Tuesday and we probably won't see 80° for at least another week. Things haven't really dried out here yet from last weeks torrential downpours.

Today starts with that damn dishwasher again, but I might wait until after church to do it. Might be able to mow some of the higher ground today without the tractor tearing up the ground surface.
Yesterday, I picked greens from the garden. I plant them along the edge so I can pick from the side instead of having to walk over the soft, tilled, and extremely soggy planting beds. My lower back aches this morning from all of the bending over, but thankfully it's not as serious as David or Troy.

Out in the train shed yesterday, after much contemplation, I chose the next project. I have an unfinished area about 30" long and varying in width from 4" to 11" between a row of structures and the main line as it loops around the turn-back peninsula. The structures all face away from the aisle but the fronts are visible from other angles.

I always just figured that I would make this into a parking area for those businesses and purposely left a gap for a pedestrian walkway between the two structures on the left. So this is my newest project. I spent some time measuring and planning and I have a vision. First I need to paint it to resemble a blacktopped area. I am using some Woodland Scenics "Slate Gray" paint that I bought 12 years ago.

Removed all of the buildings and the first coat is done and I will look at it today after it has dried to see whether a second coat is needed before proceeding.

It's a simple project, but it will be a highly visible place along the aisle here.

Terry - Strange that I also think of the 70's as being 30 years ago. Maybe it's because I don't really remember much of the 80's and 90's.

Everyone have a super-duper Sunday.

If you really want to get carried away in that area, I have seen many, many areas like that, which have an overgrown fence line near the tracks, with tall weeds and some trees growing up through and around the fence.

Back from the great North woods camping trip.

I managed to drop my phone in the lake the first day. Luckily it was right by the shore and I found it sticking out of the water a little the following morning. The lake is still frozen except there was a thawed out area all along the shoreline. I was camping at a rustic campground on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, it was about a mile hike in and that is where I set up camp, there was a fire ring there and a toilet in the woods.

Amazing thing is the phone still works. The screen does not turn off but other than that is totally functional. It is a Samsung 12 and the screen already had a small crack in it, I will not be replacing it as long as it still works.

Will be in the train shed later today

I didn't realize there was a big dip in the track

First round of ice pack is over, and pack is back in the freezer. I managed to get two chapters generated by the AI for the Canadian book in queue. They just found the dead drummer in the van. Poor band can't keep their drummers healthy. :p Bonus points if you know where I borrowed that plot device.

Due to back issues, I informed the wife all bedroom sports were cancelled for the night. Drat!

Just in case you're wondering, here are the notable Literary birthdays for the week:
Karl Marx (May 5, 1818),
Robert Browning (May 7, 1812),
Thomas Pynchon (May 8, 1937),
Pat Barker (May 8, 1943), and
J. M. Barrie (May 9, 1860).

Good morning all!

Kind of slept in this morning, so I'm late.

Its another cloudy dreary morning with temps in the low 50s and reaching 63F for a high. No rain forecasted though.

I never did mow yesterday. With the morning rain it was too wet till afternoon, and I got busy with other thing. I must
get that done today, or I will have to bale it. Did get everything else weekend wise done, so that is the only task to
complete unless the wife has other plans.

Have a safe day everyone!

What decoder are you going to use?
I "was" going to use a Next-18 decoder, like in the other three SXT Dash-9's I have. And I just re-learned what happens when you ASS.U.ME.
This one does NOT use the next-18. It uses something even smaller. There seems to be zero info about what really fits, so I'll send a message to Scale Trains, and see if they can take time away from going out of business to answer my question.
In technology news, I was able to install Win 11 on the work laptop. It and the desktop both have pro versions of windows, and I had to run the update as an administrator. I'll see if that works on the desktop, as well.

Good afternoon gang!

Hanging out in the basement , watching youtube and getting ready for Nascar. Working on a wooden loco today, more on that later.

I got my V3 Razer (remember them?) wet fishing one and it went nuts. Verizon sent me a new one and after resting on my night stand for about a month I tried it, and the damn thing worked! Electronics and water do goofy things sometimes.

Due to back issues, I informed the wife all bedroom sports were cancelled for the night. Drat!
T.M.I. dude!

Boris said...(I imagine Ken Patterson is losing interest in producing a weekly blog cast, he's had numerous shows with little appeal, and numerous guest hosts of late...and since the election, U Tube has become a zoo of false and misleading and divisive "news " items.)

I quit watching anything Ken Patterson does/did almost two years ago. His "Whats Neat" show should be named " Aren't We Neat". I got real tired of watching someone trying to show me the "best" way to do something. That may be "his" way but something else may work as well or better than his way. One of the guys on the show did his first Drop-In decoder install on the show and Ken P. referred to him after that as a "decoder install expert"..........give me a break.

I receive the Model Railroad Hobbyist digital magazine along with the Running Extra that they offer and really enjoy the content. I quit RMC and MRM over 5 years ago. However if MRH dropped Ken Pattersons stuff, I would not miss it.

I saw a YouTube video on Micro Trains. The owner manufactures all their products in Oregon, NOT China. It is my understanding Micro Trains specializes in N scale. However, the owner mention an "in the works" collaborative with Accurail to start offering a more highly detailed HO scale piece of rolling stock with separate grab irons/ladders etc. That deal with Accurail sounds promising and I hope they end up with a nice offering.

I did hear one company spokesman who was talking about tariffs say that there was no place in the USA that could manufacture scale train items as there was no one in the USA with the talents to do so. What a crock of $hit.

Again, I'm taking the wait and see position on tariffs.

Have a great afternoon........John

Ken Patterson, I use to watch him all the time but now it's not like it use to be. More of a look at me or do this do that sorta channel. I'm no expert by any means but they show more of what's out there (which is good) but not much how to stuff anymore it seems.

As for his way or the highway, you take everything on Utube with a grain of salt and figure out what works for you and what don't. It's all just their point of view. Yeah, sometimes it comes across as their the best and their way is best but don't get so hung up on that part of it.

I mostly look for Utube channels that deal with building a model or airbrushing, or using different paints. One that comes to mind for airbrushing and types of paints is Barbatos Rex https://www.youtube.com/@barbatosrex9473/featured

I haven't really found much on weather railroad cars, locomotives and buildings. Usually will find military stuff all weathered up. They have some great ideas too.

I thought you said you were on iOS.

I expect eBay/windows wants you logged in to Gmail if your verifying a Gmail based email account for passkeys. Try going to the Google thing and verifying. Get the passkey. Then log out of gmail and maybe restart the computer and see if it works just with the passkey.

I don’t use windows and my email is not Gmail so I cannot reproduce the situation.

I'm beginning to like my Linux, Zorin 17 better and better not having to deal with so much crap on Google and Microsoft.
Here's a screenshot from my laptop. If I click "continue", it sends me to Google, no matter what it says about Windows:

I get the same crap usually with a "Capcha" (spelling) first when I try to log in with Google.

I usually use Firefox with my windows computer but here lately I cannot log into my e-mail account with AT&T Yahoo using Firefox.

I am not using passkeys, especially not with Google. Way back in the thread, I mentioned it was with all my devices, but the IOS stuff was the most blatant.
The screen shot you showed seems to be wanting to create a Passkey. It doesn't say that but that is what it is. If all your devices want you to be logged in to Gmail to set up Passkeys if using a Gmail address for the account it's to make sure you own that account, since Passkeys are very powerful.

I use iOS and macOS all the time, even with a Gmail based address for a few services, and unless the service is a Google service itself, no one makes me log in to Google. (This is without passkeys). So I am a little confused on what the problem you're describing actually is.
