Good Morning!

Last night, I was up until 1:30am plastering my layouts river crossing. This caused me to sleep-in until 7:30 this morning, and when I looked out the window, I saw a thick frost was on the neighbouring roofs. Hoping this don't kill all the wife's new plants. If it does, there will be replacement costs.

Thankyou Willie, Terry, and TomO for answering my PWRS question. They certainly are quirky, and expensive.
At this point, I at least believe they are a real outfit.
I did make purchase of one 4550 cylindrical hopper as the most expensive railcar that I'll own. It cost near $100.00cdn shipped, but, I knew that before pushing the button. - They did ship it, and I have a tracking number, so we'll see if it comes in.
This is the one I ordered, just for fun:

It's an Inter-Mountain model, with the PWRS label on it. PWRS may well be responsible for the road colours.
I will not be ordering from PWRS frequently, as I can get Inter-mountain cars from Edmonton cheaper with free shipping. Just not one in these colours. - My crazy mind has imagined an evil plan for this car. I want to try a shadow box.

Anyway, I can't hang around since I'm running late after sleeping-in. Gotta go! Have a wonderful day!!

Another cloudy day here. I played about 35 rounds of golf this year and there was not one round where the sun has been out the entire round. I think only 3 rounds where the sun has been out 9 of the 18 holes. England type weather has taken over NY now.

I think you’ll get a kick at watching Boomer weather the car you just purchased. Have fun with it

Good afternoon. It's partly cloudy and 95(?).
This time, I have some good news, instead of all the bad stuff. I went to my local-ish hoby shop 35 miles away (an hour's travel), and found an Atlas N scale GP38, in red Lehigh Valley, with DCC installed, weathered, for $40. It runs very well, even though it has a base-model Lenz motor decoder, and looks good. "Good" is obviously relative, but it certainly looks the part of a locomotive from a bankrupt anthracite road. All I have to do now is enable and load speed tables for it, since Lenz doesn't allow any other voltage adjustments, and it will be placed in service with my pair of Conrail GP38s.

There is a cardinal rule that states DO NOT place turnouts under anything permanent. Well, that's a lesson that I just learned. The turnout going in the portal on the right side is derailing light-weight cars. Nothing more aggravating than getting a broom stick to move the car so I can reach it. The only way to fix up is to cut our a section of the upper layout (Joanstown), and replace the turnout with a single piece of track...I have a worse problem in the middle of Joanstown. Another problem turnout...I am going to fix the easy (by no means easier) turnout by ripping out a section of Joanstown on the right hand side. This isn't going to be fun. Lesson learned...I hope

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with a walk at 77F (at 0530) but the humidity wasn't bad. Actual temp is 93F and the feel like is supposed to get to 104F today, but it's a wet heat. 😉 I did some chores then ran the layout for about 90 minutes. MOH isn't coming back until Monday now. Her and her BFF did a skunk rescue in GA which is an illegal state. The animal will stay in SC at a local rescue.

Hughie- Nice job on the build. Last night the Houston news was behind two dumb ass celebrity stories on the national news...SMH.

Troy- That sounds like a non-starter with your wife.

David- I hope you and Dawn had a nice drive.

Patrick- I know that feeling. I have grandsons that are a couple of months from 19 and 17.

Guy- A nice looking car.

Mike- Nice looking diesel. I had to look up what CPKC is.

Willie- Nice looking layout scenes.

Terry- Nice find.

John- We've all learned lessons like that over the years.

A small local move. The boxcar came from my local buddy Tom's MRR. He models northern FL/southern GA. His RR is the Atlantic & Southern.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon, all! A very warm, oh hell, very hot day in Houston. In the 90's with feels like of 101. Remember, there's 450,000 people without power, no A/C.
I ran a few trains this afternoon after planting the bank.

I was wanting a little weed growing from the sidewalk, but now that I see it in a photo I'm going to remove it.
Just a random, down the track.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Well, howdy there, internet peeps...

It's troy again.

Mothers' day is complete.

Dinner was at a local M&P Italian restaurant. Went there because they have a side room that could hold our 19. Been there twice now, and not impressed with the food either time. This time, wife ordered the lunch portion of the Chicken Parm... What two sides?
Ummm... soup and veggies...

it showed up with NO pasta. Just Chicken, cheese and sauce... person a few seats away ordered the same thing, but with a side of spaghetti, because he'd read close enough to notice it didn't come with pasta.

Conversation was good. Wife just has to worry about planning the family reunion for her side this coming august. I'm in charge of smoking meat for it. Other than that, I'm out of the loop.

My mother made it to Rehab Hospital OK, but...
She's still not doing well. Besides the typical AFIB issues, she'd still having blood in her urine. And just feeling Blah. We'll check on her tomorrow. At least there's a nurse on staff all night, and an aid to help her use the loo, etc.

While we visiting Mom, local sis stopped in. She was pleasant, but is frayed at the edges. About a year ago, she found out her husband was shopping around for casual cannoodling, because she was too wrapped up in Mom, and their two live in grandaughters with psych issues. She and hubby have worked things out, mainly, he had to get sober - but he's still living a state away in KY.

Too many of his old drinking buddies live on the same block near my sis and think "Just one beer won't hurt..."

So my sis is burning the candle at three ends, with a forth end smoldering ready to burst... and Mom had that fall and went to the hospital for the third time in a month.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to hear the dark side of my mother's personality coming out of my sister.... "YOU and your sister NEVER help..." She was threatening to call the other sis, who lives about an hour away from Mom in the other direction from me.

After discussing and calming her down, Sis #1 is frustrated (like mom) because we can't read her mind, don't know her routine and how to do stuff with mom when mom's brain isn't firing on all cylinders. Only about half of her plugs are sparking right now. Sis #1 can interpret that, and know the routines, because she's local. We don't have that knowledge.

So, with my wife along, we diffused situations, reminded her we're doing what we can long-distance, and jumping when she asks for help - but you have to OPEN YOUR MOUTH and ask, not send brain waves. That was how Mom was as we grew up. Always yelling because we couldn't see the X, Y, and Z needed to be done.

Wife and I had a long conversation about the day, and our upbringing on the drive back. In a way, it helped my wife see that her situation with their long-distance sibling (now about 2 hours away) not jumping to help their mom is similar. Neither of the local girls are ASKING other sis to help. Turns out they're actually mad at her because she's always been flighty and withdrawn. They want her making the regular visits, regular calls, etc, just like they do. "Mom won't be here forever, why won't she or her girls visit?"

Because they live 2 hours away. They were the ones behind "Lets get together for Mothers Day" dinner today. BUT none volunteered to plan it.

Well, did you say "GREAT IDEA! Make reservations someplace within 15min of mom's apt, tell us, and we'll meet you there!"

My wife... "Yeah... we should have... but we're local and know which places have the large party rooms... she doesn't know that... and she can't host, that's too far for Mom to travel..."

OK. I'm through unloading. Thanks for listening. I'm glad a bit of enlightenment was had by all parties.... Maybe.... we'll see

It's no wonder that your stress levels are affecting your tinnitus. Good luck with all of the emotional relatives.
