I love all nuts, cashews, walnuts, peanuts and pecans the most. Unfortunately I am prone to kidney stones from my right kidney and I must avoid eating them, along with spinach and beets, because they are all high in oxalates. Interesting that I "brown-bagged" peanut butter & jelly sandwiches at least twice a week for over 55 years to work and school; without a problem until 63 years of age. The first one was pure hell. It occurred on my way home from work and I stopped at the ER, where after a sonogram they gave me two Advil and told me to take more as shown on the bottle when I got home. It actually wasn't big enough to require further treatment from them. I have had a few more since, although not as severe. Now I avoid those foods and drink a lot of sugar-free lemonade and haven't had one in over 18 months. I miss the nuts though.:( I still eat them in severe moderation.

Changing the subject for a minute -our new kittens have opened their eye's and are looking around! Their eyes are as blue as the bluest sky! Unfortunately they will most likely loose that blue color in time :(

The little buggars are also starting to realise they have back legs, and what they are used for - forward momentum :) None of them are having muck luck at the moment but can see them running around the porch in the not too distant future :)

O's celebrating 13-10 nail biter over KC today. Meanwhile, the Jersey Devils are setting a pattern in the NHL East playoffs. Each of their three losses to the NY Rags, was 5-1. They lost in Raleigh last night 5-1 to begin the second round with the Caniacs. it's going to be an interesting series and go 6 or 7 games.

Good Evening!

It seems like Alberta is on fire. Repeated evacuation alerts have been ringing on my phone for Wildwood, Drayton Valley area, Evansburg, Brazeau Dam, and other isolated areas of the landscape not named. This does not mention the reserves that are threatened further north.

Odd that Whitecourt has hardly no smoke in the air. We don't seem to be impacted by the fires, even though most of those places are within a 1 hour drive of my house.

Guy - I hope that you do get some good pictures of the damaged railcars. Most likely they'll all be loaded on to flat cars. You might get some big crane pictures as well. I don't guess that you can get close to the wreck itself.
Willie - I don't believe I'll get any photos, as I believe any wrecked railroad equipment was hauled east to Edmonton. That's in the other direction from me. There was a large crew leaving town in hy-rail vehicles today, but I could only observe from distance.
By now, they should have the derail all cleaned up. There still is no rail traffic coming through town, though.

The King Charles coronation will be all over the tube on Saturday.
My wife calls Camilla the Whore Queen, which is about as close as my wife gets to foul language.

Oh,oh! Just got another evacuation alert to include the Pembina River area. This is like WWIII coming down on us. There must be a very large number of people who are ordered to evacuate into a hockey arena somewhere.

Have a good night!

Well, howdy there internet peeps

It's Troy again.

Today is Revenge of the Fifth in a galaxy far far away.

It's also the US National Holiday where most Americans pretend to love Mexico, get drunk on Dos Equis, and make bad puns...

I shall be doing none of those. It is, after all, laundry day. Then Brats on the grill. Tomorrow is smoke a brisket day.

I saw a headline where some pranksters mowed a giant penis into the lawn near the coronation, or something.

Sounds about right for Bath, it has a large University population, so my guess is they are the most likely culprits, bit of fun that hurts no one. :)

Good morning Crew. Finished my walk around the grounds here and at 5 in the morning they sure have a lot of grounds crews tidying up the resort. Lots of smiles, nods of heads and hellos. I felt like I was walking a street almost anywhere in Wisconsin except Milwaukee. It’s a good feeling.

Another excellent day on the course yesterday because the wind was only gusting in the teens. Unlike Tuesday where it occasionally they claim it hit 50mph yesterday was great. I shot a 78 as did the partner keeping us in first but we are now tied with 3 other teams. I did win a skin on the second hole plus 10 carry overs from Wednesday. My partner got a skin with only 3 carry overs on 18 so there will be no leftovers starting out today. When my partner got his payout for the 4 skins and we were in the car coming back to the hotel he counted the money. He then asked exactly how much money are we playing for? Told him with all the players (80) contributing it’s not individually much each hole and part of the overall fee. Told him, since he’s my guest I paid the entry fees and just keep enjoying the golf. Told him if we win this thing or even finish in the top 10 he will be very happy.

I did buy a new IPadPro after golf. We were driving by a Best Buy and we stopped in. Took a few minutes to set up and transfer the data from my phone to the IPadPro. After 3 months or so fighting the one I have been using since 2015, it was time. I am very happy I transferred the data from the old IPadPro to my phone a few weeks ago. Made setting up the new tablet very simple. The only issue I had was setting up the IMessaging system that took help from the son and now something I just noticed. I have ads! I just stopped typing and checked the settings and my Ad Blocker did not transfer over and I will add that in after I am done here.

I tried another sit down at the Blackjack table, I lasted under an hour. It used to be a game I could and did spend hours at playing. It now holds absolutely no fascination for me. My brother plays craps and wins huge and loses big. That’s a game I have never tried and do not or even want to understand. Terry, Chrisine and my sister are slot players. We saw Santana last night, he’s still great. The girls after the banquet are seeing Rod Stewart, Mark and I will stay at the banquet. He has not gambled or even walked into the Sports book. Tonight is the dinner banquet at Mandalay Bay for the golf and includes spouses/partners and the staff who organized this thing. It’s been a good time and we have had to time to get around besides the golf. The helicopter ride the other night was spectacular and seeing how low Lake Mead is behind the Hoover Dam was eye opening.

The son will be here tonight. We fly out around 8 tomorrow morning and drop Terry and my sister off in Omaha and then the rest of us fly home. Today should be another great day for us, enjoy yours

Good Morning All. Happy Cinco de Mayo. Cloudy and 67°, where it finally rained last night. It was a short quick thunderstorm that left .75" in the rain gauge. Don't know how long it lasted because I slept through it, but it was done by the first pee break. I see mowing in my future as a result. That made the weather geeks so happy that they removed rain from today's forecast, all the way thru next Wednesday. Today will be absolutely miserable as they are predicting a high temperature of 95° today and tomorrow. The humidity will be oppressive. Depending on conditions, we may have to turn on the A/C inside.

Grocery trek went OK yesterday, nothing unusual although gasoline prices have dropped back below #2.95/gal almost everywhere. I took advantage of my 30¢/gal fuel points discount and filled up. Doesn't quite make up for the battering I have taken in the stock market this week. Overall I got out with spending less than $100 for the first time in more than four years, since my wife won't be home for five days.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I applied ground cover to the left of Cooter's for the "lot" that the food trailer will be on. Didn't take a picture as it was just a gleaming pool of wet glue when I had to leave and fire up the grill.
For pictures today, I'll post some of the structures on the other side of the tracks from the scene that I am working on.

Karl - Don't brag about the benchwork without posting pictures!;)
Tom O - The dealer had some exceptions to the no credit cards accepted, but only as part of a down payment if you financed with their finance company. Then the finance company took any hits for fees etc. They will accept them at the service department if needed, but we have free six year service, maintenance, roadside assistance, loaner car and home pick-up and delivery. OK, they say it's free, but we pay somewhere in the overall price/warranty. The finance rate is 6.48% which would add $10K over six years. I could use the credit card for the allowable down payment and pay off the whole thing immediately, but that is a hassle and I believe I saw an early payment penalty. I only skimmed over the contract.
Jaz - Coyotes, Bobcats and Hawks take care of the majority of the rodents here. Snakes, Eagles and Owls get their share as well.
Patrick - I knew folks at work who had to have a new vehicle every two years as well. They never got ahead of it and the burden increased faster than their available income because they always went for something "better". It carried over in the rest of their lives too, home improvements, gym and club memberships etc.
Jeff - Great tale.
Chad - The dealer was no credit cards period, except as noted in my comments to Tom.

Don't imagine that I will see any of the coronation, since I don't watch TV anyway.
Watch out today if you live in a city with mass transit, today is National No Pants on the Subway day. On the other hand some female participants might be worth a second look.

Everybody have a great day.

Good day, everyone!

I'm looking forward to transplanting a lot of the plants we started indoors this weekend. Looks like the forecast has us out of frost danger for the season. Last year this time, we were 30 days out from our Daughter's wedding, so we didn't do much gardening at all last year. Not that I'm complaining, obviously we had other priorities, lol.

I am excited, though. There's not much better than a homegrown tomato, and I have several plants of 4 different varieties that are really healthy.

We've been hardening the plants for a couple of weeks now. Hardening, is when you take plants outside durring teh days but take them back inside if it's too cold at night. You don't necessarily need to do that with tomato plants, but we have a lot of flowers and other ornamental type plants.

My wife sells flowers and plants from her 1967 Chevy, "Ivy."

Here's a pic of her setup at in Easton Town Center, here in Central Ohio. That's our oldest who got married last summer. She's one of the reasons why I collect firearms, LOL!

My other task for this weekend is to put a new gasket between the transmission body and the pan... There was a lot of transmission fluid that leaked out over the Winter. If it's not one thing it's another.

Good morning gang!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Finally after a week of clouds and on and off rain, the sun has come out! 😊

Gonna cut the grass today after work, and till the garden tomorrow after work, wife has several plants already started for the garden so I gotta get busy.

Been driving the lil S10 all week. Finally this morning it has used 1/4 tank of gas. It's not as powerful or as luxurious as the Colorado, but it sure is more efficient!

Willie, I'll gat a pic for you maybe Sunday!

Jeff. That little truck looks is awesome! I'm certain the ladies are too!

BBL, stay safe everyone!!

Terry, Chrisine and my sister are slot players.
Tom I'm not a casino guy. Not enough thinking to give my brain a good workout. Playing horses gives your brain a real workout. Lots of numbers to calculate. I can't think of any of my horse playing friends that had brain fog when they got old. They may have gone broke but no brain fog. There should be a warning on slots. NO BRAIN REQUIRED.

Speaking of casinos... being an author makes my google history highly suspect.

When writing book 3 of the pixie series, I had to come up with a way for magical folks to cheat at Craps.... which meant learning how mundane folks cheat at craps. And I found the wheelchair magnet cheat.

Which became the magical pixie under the dwarf's hat cheat.

And that led me down a rabbit trail of how to throw the dice with expected results...

There's a reason most casinos have at least four decks shuffled together in the shoe at any one time.

Hoping Tom O gets to Color-UP at his next seat.
