Good Morning All!

58F @ 80% and raining

This is our first real rain of the Spring. Crap, everything is gonna go nuts. Maria tells me the lawn tractor sounds like it has a loose blade as it is rattling so we are gonna tip it to 90 degrees and check stuff out.

There is so much crap upstairs we can only do one room at a time. Shuttle stuff outa one into another. Should get most of that done today then I can start the demo. Prices for dimensional lumber are at the level they were before the China Virus .... except for insulation - $90 for a 16" R21 roll ( 7 8ft chunks ); $45 for R19 with only 5 chunks. I have not checked the Big Box stores that are 90 Miles away. Might behoove me to get all I need if it is a whole bunch cheaper. I don't remember what the roof joists are so have to wait until I check that out. Pretty good pitch on it so because of the age of this place I suspect that 2x4's were used. If that is the case, I will add a 2x2 to them and go with the R21. Don't think that it will make that much difference in the ceiling height. Fun Fun!

Been playing with the track plan for a little bit in the Morning - it is getting there. Did a test plot of it and that will be good enough for a pix or 2. Dang plotter went to load another sheet of which I did not notice that an edge was turned up. So, guess what? Print head came over the tore it then tried to eject. Paper piece is now under the paper roller and can not be seen and won't load another sheet. Gonna have to get a piece of plastic sheet and see if I can push it so I can grab it. I seem to remember that the utility menu allows turning of the paper roller in either direction so I will find out about that first.

Later

Afternoon All,

Started today at the VA for my annual. The doc really liked my lab work but at of course I have a referral for a cardiac stress test, and I need a throat CT. Joy, getting old is for the birds, but the alternative is definitely worse.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I saw a headline where some pranksters mowed a giant penis into the lawn near the coronation, or something.

Thats the outline of a rocket......probably Elon Musk is responsible.

Afternoon all,

Been a busy day, even though I was home (have to work tomorrow). Started off getting the new crown installed, then started cutting out the doll house. Needed a circular saw blade as I only had the rougher cutting ones. Got it and started cutting, only to have my saw start shooting sparks and not working. Now I'm down to cutting with my table saw, which is really too small to cut panels, but did anyway. Got the exterior walls and floors cut, still need the inside walls. I actually found the company that produced the pattern, Easy-Bild Pattern Company. Particular pattern is the 2nd printing from 1944. Company has been out of business since 1960.

Taking a break and my get back to it again shortly. Lots of pieces to cut.

Nice evening to sit on the patio with a glass of wine and finish off this tome.

Interesting story about the impacts that Mr. McClelland had on the hobby.

enough that I went to Fleabay for this:

If I understand correctly, the latter tome is Allen's articles from MRC about how he designed, built, and operated his layout?

Good late afternoon from the city of fun and games. As we were leaving the golf course I received a a text message from my wife saying come to the casino before going to the room. Then Mark, then my brother got similar messages. Turns out the 4 ladies (add my sister) were splitting a jackpot at a machine. They put $400 into a $5 machine and are splitting $106,000. Their plan was this was the last machine of this trip. Even with taxes taken out they loved their payouts. Took over 90 minutes from when they won to payoff. They did not play another game, but did get some drinks. None of the 4 are feeling any pain. The dinner banquet starts at 7 with dinner at 8 and awards at 8:45. We think we did very well but there were no updates given out and every one was aware that would happen.

We are taking off by 6AM tomorrow as the the wife and sister are getting dropped off in Omaha for the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting. I have finished packing. The golf clubs and suit cases are going home via UPS and everyone will just have a carry on. It’s so simple that way. Golf clubs are a pain.

Good Afternoon All. Not usually posting at this time, but an unpredicted thunder/lightening event brought me in. Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect, quite a severe one just a bit north but should pass to the east. At 4:00 this afternoon, the temperature reached 95°, then a surge of cool air from the thunderstorm outflow north of here brought it down to 83° in an hour. Still not pleasant. We had to turn on the A/C around 2:30 pm. Record high for this day is 94° set back in 1984, so we broke it today.
Had to pick three heads of loose leaf lettuce this morning, as this temperature for the next few days will cause it to "bolt", that is send up a seed stalk and turn bitter. I left a fourth one out there, to observe since we will do good to consume the three that are now in the fridge over the next month.
Everybody have a great Friday night.

Good evening guys

Lawn is cut, started about 6:40 and finished at almost 8. My next door neighbor started after I did, he's finishing with his headlights on.
Me, I got my feet propped up with a Twisted Tea in front of me.

Soon I'll retire, 5 a.m. reveille tomorrow
