Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 50° out there. Not supposed to get above 70° today due to the clouds. Predicting 81° for tomorrow. Just barely hit 75° yesterday, They're still predicting at least 7 days of rain beginning Wednesday, with temperatures remaining in the 70's most of that time.
Sort of a busy day here yesterday, with my wife not arriving home until 2:00. Did 2 loads of laundry including bed linens and later filled and ran the dishwasher overnight. That awaits me this morning. Tilled the western half of the garden; it's ready for planting now.

As is typical for a Sunday, I didn't spend a lot of time out in the train shed yesterday. So I did a bit more wiring on the lighting buss on the upper level along the north side of the north aisle; approximately 32'. I've tied in 8 structures so far but haven't connected a power source yet. I have a handful of old Bachmann & Tyco transformers to use; as well as a box full of obsolete wall-warts.

David - Enjoy your visit here in the states.
Karl - My doctor also recommends CoQ10, but I quit taking the statins because of the side effects.
Mike - Belated Happy Birthday to your wife.
Troy - Safe travels for you and your wife.

Musician Jon Bon Jovi is 64 today, a bit younger than I thought him to be.

Everyone have a great Monday.

Good morning Crew.

The 3” of snow from Saturday is now spotty ground cover. It was a beautiful dry powder! The bright sun yesterday knocked it down with all sidewalks in the neighborhood clear and dry. Just driveways on the Northside of the houses have snow remaining. Since it never got above 30f yesterday, it was the sun! 44 is the guess for the high today and while taking out the garbage and recycling bins this morning the winds are calm if we have any at all.

I see Mr Trump’s deflection while costly is working. It is amazing to see what our military can do when unleashed from political restraints. How many times has the military been held back by that. While you and I may agree to disagree about the War he told the military what he wanted and let them decide how to do it…

I added some pictures of the paper mill layout in the thread Lets build a paper mill for a friend. It’s go time, finally! After too many delays we finally settled on something. He likes track, I like the aesthetic of progress of the product. I want to give each building a purpose and while I didn’t get exactly what I wanted I did get my friend to realize not every inch of open space needs track!

Mike, I surprised anyone in Northern Illinois outside of Chicago even knows of Casmir Pulaski let alone celebrates him. Well done to your daughter’s school.

While the saga of the sisters is not ever going to be over and I let her know how I felt yesterday (made her cry, tough toe nails) the sister was here and everything is agreed to. 1st time I’ve spoken to her since the 1st court hearing in Terry says 2016. Terry slept well last night. The brother in law has a scheduled operation/procedure to the carotid artery. It’s blocked and slowing blood to the brain which maybe part of his cognitive lost and early onset dementia. That’s on Wednesday. He is 61 and the sister never even started the paperwork the hospital gave her for financial help or get him qualified for additional help. They have no health insurance coverage! The Clinic they used attached a lien to their house for non payment. It’s partly the reason for the reconciliation of the sisters. While the medical help has diminished and the hoops harder to jump through under this regime, there is still available help. The sister in law just too lazy to fill it out. One of the nieces is going to have the Power of Attorney and Medical. Terry, one BIL and the daughter trust her not to be bullied by her mom and act responsibly but Terry will personally over see the financial payouts. Today the youngest brother in law, 17 years younger than Terry is coming by. He is the only 1 of the 3 brothers who is willing to help. He says like Terry the principle money of his inheritance he got is untouched and earning. The other 2 brothers and of course the sister blew through it quickly. He offered to help Terry with 50%. They can work it out as I’ve never offered suggestions to either about that.

SORRY had to get that out. I was so furious sitting there listening to unbelievable entitlement yesterday. She truly believes the world including the deceased dad was against her. Why could illegals get free medical but they couldn’t. It was really sad to see she believes all that crap…

Have a great day

Good morning folks. 35°F out there this cloudy morning. It might hit the 40s today, but tomorrow it starts warming with daytime highs in the upper 50s and low 60s for the rest of the week. Very early spring-like for around here.

FedEx got my package to Marion, Illinois overnight. I guess since they've already missed their 2 day delivery guarantee by four days there's no rush now. Should be at the gunshop this afternoon and I'll pickup tomorrow. FedEx only fly's three flights a week to KSTL on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

I'm just hanging out today, nothing scheduled, though I do hope the optometrist calls sometime this week to say my new glasses have arrived. I hope they got them right. My last two prescriptions either gave me a headache, or I couldn't see any better than I could before I had them.

David, welcome to the United States! Everyone have a good week.

Servus!

I had a neighbor that served 3 tours in VN as a UDT. He was very opinionated (and rightfully so) about combat. He made a profound statement that has stuck with me and still applies today.

"If old politicians are going to release the young dogs of war, then open the door, let them out, turn your back, and leave them alone to get the job done."

As long as you don't hear 5 blasts of the ship's horn, should be good.

I heard that on USS First Ship, then full reverse and everything started shaking and rolling. One guy fell out of his rack, top one of course and sprained an elbow. Found out one of the oilers zigged instead of zagging and crossed in front.

USS Second ship, I had just been relieved as officer of the deck for six minutes when I heard the collision alarm and Boom Boom. I was on a LSD and we were exercising an UNREP with an LST alongside. When the LST pulled away, she crossed our bow with not-good results. She hit our prow, we caught her on the port quarter where the causeways were stored. Law of gross tonnage prevailed and we were back at it after only a few days in Roosevelt Roads.

Ah the goold ol' days. God bless and protect the men and women of armed forces currently in harm's way.

Agree

I hate war and think it’s an unneeded evil. BUT, if you have to wage one, do it all in. Let the pros do as Willie wrote do what they are paid fot

Made it to Miami airport.

Only spent an hour on the bus in one of the tunnels under some part of Miami harbor or whatever.

Good thing the bus had mood lighting.

If only Alvin had that on the LOVE CHARIOT back on the way to Blackbeard's Castle.

Once we were through TSA, I found a blank place of floor in front of one the newstand store walls to dry to unload all the stuff from the backpack that I shoved in there to go through the metal detector.

But Deputy Dumbass decided he had the right of way to make a U turn in his golf cart and made me pivot hard while down on one knee. Twinged the piriformis. He parked his cart about 10 feet away and headed for the restroom. Thanks Deputy.

Not major, but I took a couple of advil to get me through the day. I was just down to one 200mg tablet three times a day. We'll see tomorrow if I can maintain that.

We're into phase three of hurrying up to wait. Two hours until boarding. Already had a slice of pizza and diet coke. Wife is off walking.

When we arrive in the U.S. tomorrow and travel to Allentown and Albany, I will be building bridges.

(I may have mentioned previously) my grandmother was a WW1 war bride following my grandfather from Scotland to 'the New World'.
My grandmother was not liked by other family members. A common theme at the time. Anyway, my grandmother supported her new husband throughout the trials and tribulations, only to stop when grandfather died.

Disowned by her new family grandmother, with her children packed their bags and returned to the U.K.

Now we are in contact with my descendants and the family is to be brought together again.
Missing pieces of family history to be added. Meet a new addition to the family who is named after my good Lady.

Yes. Building Bridges solid to last forever.

A Cecilia update from my Niece:

UPDATE 2/3:
It’s been a few days for an update because progress has been slow and steady. Since her last surgery several tubes have been removed including her cranial bolt. Cecilia remains intubated for breathing and feeding, but she is being titrated from her paralytics and is starting to move around in bed. The collar has come off. The doctors plan to start introducing more substantial nourishment in terms of feeding over the next few days. After that we work on getting that intubating device out.
So, here’s the big news…
She opened her eyes last night, looked right at me, and squeezed my hand. She responded so well to Chris’s voice calming her. It is too early for her to be cognizant, so she was sedated once again, but it was amazing.
Thank you for the prayers, the support, and the love. I’m sorry if I haven’t responded personally to your messages. There are only 2 or 3 people I can really stomach talking to right now. The past 8 days have been surreal and at many times this has been incredibly difficult to accept. I appreciate you.
❤️

I personally want to thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts.

Good news, Louis!

Now for something completely different...

Sitting in MIA waiting for another hourish to board, and I hear some some funky chime type music repeating, but getting closer.

and witnessed two wheelchairs roll slowly by with an older couple in them. The weird thing was the ENVOY logo on the side (the helpers/curbside checkin etc) at Miami airport. But no one was pushing the chairs. I looked closer. There were NO driver controls. Self-driving wheelchairs!

About 5 minutes later the chimes sounded again, getting closer, and now the empty chairs were rolling slowly back to robot base.
