Morning all,

44° and cloudy. Much of the rain they were expecting stayed or is predicted to stay to the south. 54° for the high later.

And one of the reasons I don't do much with the trains is the same reason others have given. Wife doesn't need anything until I try to get comfortable.

Good morning Crew! My part of Wisconsin is unseasonably warm. 32f degrees now going to 47 later per myvWeatherChannel app. Terry’s TV lady at dinner time said don’t be surprised if we break 50 today. Both the local TV channel Terry watches news and weather on is owned by the company that also owns the WeatherChannel. You’d think they’d use the same weather models but almost never do they match.

In the History of Today thread, there is something interesting in 1812. The 1st foreign aid bill was signed. So I went looking to see which country got the money!

On May 8, 1812, President James Madison signed the Act for the Relief of the People of Venezuela. The bill authorized $50,000 to purchase and transport provisions to the country following a catastrophic earthquake that had struck Caracas on March 26, 1812. But what I found interesting was it would be another 90 years before the US provided aid to another country

Terry couldn’t find a movie for movie day for us so I will check out another theater, there has to be something different than horror, religious musicians and heavy dramas.

I promised myself on Sunday, this Tuesday in the train room will be on my layout. It won’t be! I’m about 4 hours behind on a project I don’t want to be behind on. If there’s no movie today, it will be catch up day. All weathering commissions will be out the door today except the 1 I picked up from an operating session buddy on Friday. I’ve never knowingly operated or weathered diesels from BLI.

Enjoy the day

40°F this morning. I think a few rumbles of thunder woke me briefly early this morning, but can't be certain. We were supposed to have possible thunder showers this morning, and then again later today into tonight and tomorrow. It's supposed to rain every day this week, but we may have a high of 80°F by Friday.

Gunshop run later today, and train room is planned for tomorrow. Sure won't be going to the range as soggy as it's going to be.

Have a good Dienstag! Servus!

Didn't the first Bush do that? I think that war went quickly. Then we get the armchair warriors telling our troops not to anger the enemy who is trying to kill us wholesale. Don't shoot that innocent building that they are shooting from, now. I just could not believe it when I heard that.

If our troops are not going to be able to prosecute a battle to win decisively and quickly, then the folks who make those rules should be standing in front, in the line of fire, and see how that is working.

Or, we could build a multi-million dollar tank round that can steer its way around that building and get the enemy shooting from it instead of firing a 500 buck round through it and still get that guy.

Sorry, rant over.

Yes he did until he stopped them!

My coffee maker didn't finish making the 5 cups that I drink a day. It normally finishes in about 10 minutes, but 20 minutes in, I turned it off. All it was doing was sending steam out the heat tube instead of hot water. So I filled it up with 50% vinegar and water and let it sit for over an hour. Turned it on to start flushing it, and noticed that it was only sending steam out. What happened was the heat tube had butted up against the deflector and was causing too much back pressure for the valve to work. So, I ground a wedge into the end so that it could never do that again.

My wife keeps telling me to buy another, better one. This one cost me about $20 and has worked great for years and is the right size.

Maybe a mochamaster is in the cards.

I agree with your wife, buy a new one!

yes not much track for the diorama, but the whole diorama is more about the atmosphere and also the buildings. will keep you posted, and will maybe soon start a thread just for this project.

Whatever amount of time you scheduled to build, DOUBLE it

Have fun with it

Good morning all,

35F here in 'sota, and breaking 50 this afternoon. A vendor for my wife's company is taking her and some other to the Wild game tonight and yours-truly gets to tag along. The only down side is the game does not start until 8:30. That'll make for a late bedtime for this poor ole preacher during Lent.

I shoulda made a video or documented with pictures, but I achieved something cool on the layout build. I wanted to get some of the industrial spurs off the foam sub-roadbed and onto the foam board directly. But how? I would need to shape some of the foam sub-road in a slope downward to the level of the insulation. I remembered that I had bought some knife blades for my oscillating tool. It worked great!! No mess, easy to control, that tool did a great job. I suggest it to all who might have foam cutting/carving work to do. If anyone's interested, I can take some 'after-the-fact' pictures to show better what I used.

I was tired yesterday as we had our granddaughter all day, so did not get anything of note done on the layout. I need to finish the Walther's Coal Trestle. Bloody daffodils! There's some mighty teensy pieces and parts. I can only put on one walkway as some of the handrail supports broke as I cut them off the sprue. The next step is to glue the four hand rails on - - I'm almost tempted to replace the plastic parts with some spring wire I have.

Thanks for the read and have a blessed day

Steve J

Well howdy there internet landlubbers and those still at sea

It's landlubber Troy again.

We entered the house and were greated with CAT STANK... as in clean the aged and well used litterboxes stench.

We can't find anywhere that he peed, I just hoped I had enough time between dumping the litter trays and giving them the bleach treatment until we got home.

Boy, was I wrong!

So, Lord Fuzzbutt a freshly scrubbed set of poo and piddle boxes.

Though I decided to eliminate the fancy Litter Robot. After 8 years of using it, he's barely going in there. If I take away the manual clean boxes, he uses the carpets. Evidently his bout with arthritis and stress causing bladder issues has put the fancing auto-clean box on the no-go list. He'd poop in maybe three times a week.

So, I moved it out to the garage after emptying it. On a nice day, I'll get the garden hose out of storage and give it a deep clean. Might try to sell it on FB marketplace. We can get a new one, when we have to replace the current Lord Fuzzbutt with a new Lordling...

Getting home wasn't bad, just long. While in the Charlotte NC airport we got Carolina BBQ. Fast food type. Nothing great, but better than a generic burger or slice of pizza like we had in Miami airport.

Finding the car in the long term lot, however, was a mess. And we didn't take winter coats on the trip. Instead we left them in the back seat of the car.

But when we left for vacation, the shuttle driver was so fast to spot us and give us a ride, we both forgot to look which letter and row we parked in. So we wandered, shivering in our lightweight jackets in 31°f weather. It was a full row farther back than I remembered, and in one section closer than I thought. Wife thought we were even farther back. It was somewhere in between.

I already did a run to the grocery to restock the fridge staples and salad supplies. Wife, who hit the bar more than I did, especially for Mudslides, was up four pounds. I actually dropped two pounds, but I made a conscious effort to avoid the mudslides (almost) and not go back to the buffet for snacks.

We both decided this may be our last cruise for a long while. The cruise industry is in cost cutting cycle, and the reasons we enjoy the experience are what is getting cut or degraded in quality.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 62°, high of 82° later. Rain is still in the forecast for tomorrow, but it has been changed to just afternoon showers instead of thunderstorms. Those come Thursday thru Tuesday. Temperatures still in the upper-70's every day except Saturday. The forecast is for 2" of rain spread out over 7 days. We shall see!

Primary election day today in Texas, so we'll be off to vote around mid-morning. Polling place is about 7 miles away so a short drive through the countryside. Highly contested race for US Senate in both parties. Both will probably result in runoffs in late May. Dems are running a current US rep against a current Texas State House member. Republicans are running the current State Attorney General against the incumbent Senator. Both races are fracturing the internal party structure. I know who I am voting for, but I have seriously thought about voting in the other primary for the more "unelectable against my choice" candidate. Voters in Texas can vote in either primary, but can only vote in the runoff of the party that they originally cast their vote in.
I want to show a good example of Gerrymandering that hits close to home. Look at this picture of my neighborhood map.

The blue "X" is my house. The property across the road (about 2500 acres) is in a whole different congressional district. This map also shows that a trip around the block is just a tad over 10 miles. My mailbox which I have pointed out before, is just a little below where the red line turns left.

On to other things now. I now have the whole garden tilled to a depth of 8"+, except for a 5' strip on the east side that will lie fallow this season. That will be used for the hoped for fall garden starting around October. Haven't planted anything yet, as the soil is still a bit cool; currently at 58° according to the USDA sensor a few miles away.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started painting the Fordson tractor. Most of the pictures I found showed it to be Gray, which is what I painted it despite being molded in Gray to begin with. Some parts are black and the wheel rims are Orange. Original wheels appear to be Gray metal wheels, but it looks like they switched to Orange rims when they went to rubber tires. At least that's what pictures of restored ones show.
Something unusual happened out there sometime Sunday night. Even though I am very rigid about turning power off when I leave, apparently I wasn't on Sunday. So I had a train running on the upper level for nearly 20 hours. At some point, the paired engines came uncoupled from the train and then ran into it from behind. Lead engine derailed completely as did the rear truck of the second one. But the front truck maintained contact and ran all night and part of the day yesterday. I now have deep grooves in the wheelsets! Bummer. I haven't yet figured out how to access the wheelsets on a ScaleTrains SD40-2. Initial search on the Internet came up empty. I will have to call them once I get the RH hearing aid back from the shop. Engine still runs fine but has no traction. Track is OK though. I still can't understand how I let this happen.

Mike - Casmir Pulaski, a very unlikely American hero!
Tom O - Sorry to read about the additional stress your relative is putting the family through.
Michael - Good to read that the UPS dilemma is close to over.
I think a few rumbles of thunder woke me briefly early this morning, but can't be certain.
Was it rumbles of thunder or the neighbor starting his truck???
Terry - Never had to put the shorts and tee's away this winter except for a week!

Yes, this website has been giving me trouble for a few days now, more so this morning. Frustrating.
Everybody have a great Tuesday. If you live in Texas, go out and vote.

Doesn't your key fob have a red button on it to activate the lights and horn???

When you have Cabin Fever stage 7 you go out and start painting the snow. I'm currently at stage 6 now and getting my different color paints together. I need to get out of this house. If I didn't have some model railroading projects going I be at stage 8 right now, Swal
