As a kid I was all about Ali, but in the 90s I started to hear more about Foreman and what a great human he is. I've been. fan since then (and I think before his grill came out?). I need to find our grill and make a sandwich or burger in his honor and memory.

If you can find it, use butyl tape instead of putty for the sink. It doesn't degrade like the putty does, and remains pliable for years, if not decades.
I found that the 3 hours it takes me to do a plumbing job will always be done (correctly) in an hour by a pro. I will not contort myself under a sink anymore. I will gladly pay a pro to do it quickly and right the first time.
I had a neighbor years ago that was an electrical contractor. He just happened to stop by while I was working on a "project". He convinced me I knew nothing about the codes, safety, or what I was doing. He saved my life. I traded an hour and a half of his time for a case of ammo.
Dirty Harry's quote from Magnum Force applies here. "A man has to know his limitations."
For me, they reflect the modelers skills in lighting and building/detailing abilities.

Yeah I just saw that on a FB post. He lived a decent life. He could have easily done another 10-15 in terms of what people live but 76 is a good life.

OK, I admit it. I use AdBlocker on my laptop. Took a moment to figure out the gaps between a few of the posts were where the ad bars would be.
I don't use adblocker on my iPad nor phone, and usually visit via ipad when I'm eating lunch or one last look from bed, so Bob gets a bit of ad revenue. The ads are small enough on the ipad I don't try to read the T-shirts the scantily clad models are wearing.
But I turned them back on just to see how the new pages looked on the laptop. They're still obnoxious enough I turned adBlocker back on.
I use Chrome and a lot of Google functionality. Google AdSense should know what my politics are. I figured the demographic for grumpy old fart modell RR types would veer toward one side of the political spectrum, so the T-shirts on the models with a political bent didn't surprise me. But some of the other pics were a case of "Who clicked on that one???"
Oh, we're mostly the "grumpy old fart male modeler" club.

Good morning gang!
39° degrees under partly cloudy skies, heading to the mid-50s later. Hovering over my coffee cup while I wait for my crew to show up for a Saturday fun day in the shop. Mostly oil changes, 1 tune up and a lifter replacement in a 5.3 v8 on tap for today. The nice part about Saturday is they do buy lunch for us (Pizza, Chik-fil-a or Popeyes) and I will be home by 3. Pus I get next Friday off with pay!

Good Morning All!
36F @ 83% dark with new white. Daytime from now until Friday is high 40's to mid 60's, Night mid 35's to mid 40's.
Geesh, tripped over one of the cats when getting up to P 2 nights ago and went splat on left shoulder/arm/wrist. Goose Egg on left face cheek bone too. Surprised no black eye. Arm is better this am and I can type faster. Yes, cat still has 9 lives.
Maria went to a friends house yesterday to 'burn' horns on baby goats, give them shots and shoot the breeze with the owner. Came back about 3 hours later with 4 dozen brown eggs. Maria did not expect to get paid, but what the heck. I spent most of the day with an errant pellet stove. combustion blower came to a screeching halt. Had to remove it from the stove casing - yup, locked up tighter than old ethnic's wallet. Could not spin it period. Happened to have a used replacement and put it in as that part of the house was cold. Not the final install as it is sucking air and whistles quite loud. By that time, I did not want to go to Ace for 450 degree Loctite, so this am is the plan. Very crappy engineering; used formed thin sheet metal for holding the fan assembly to the whole blower assembly. Screws vibrate enough that they loosen sometime in the season. Ya, tighten them just a tad to much and you have a spinning screw. When they punched the screw holes in the fan assembly, they did not flatten the area which leaves you with sheet metal point sticking up and makes it impossible to get a good flat connection between the two. Factory uses some sort of foam looking stuff that don't burn and is a real pain to get it positioned. Will get screws with a bigger shank and flatten the mounting points as much as I can, and tightened down. Whole blower assembly should go another 2 or 3 years without having to be replaced. Yup, ima cheap - new ones are not that bad $$$ wise, but the old/broken one is easy to take off and fuss with.
Today she wants to go to another friends house and dig plants as they sold the house and those items are to be flattened with new owners. Guess there are about 100 Dafi's and some weird bush/tree that is unknown but with interesting looking leaves - never gets very big as the tall dogs munch them down. We will see as there is a little over an inch of white on the ground now....
Told the wife I would pick up Pizza and Beer after work. She does not let me name the kids anymore.

Wife has already said we were going to wash, vacuum, and clean the interior of the cars today. Later tonight we will meet my parents for dinner. We haven't seen them since mid January. They have been in Texas at my sisters for the winter. It will be good to see them again.

Good morning from Wisconsin. A beautiful looking morning as the sun is bright and I do not see any clouds! 29f degrees now and 44 later.
The Badger Women hockey team won yesterday. The Championship game is Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis. We are not going because of Terry’s second cataract surgery at 6:30am Monday.
The grandson is up north in Eagle River, Wi playing in a hockey tournament. 2 today and 1 tomorrow. Just under a 4 hour drive that we thought about going today but nope, we will watch on a streaming app.
Had a plumbing issue yesterday. Sitting at my weathering bench and all of a sudden I am getting wet with water dripping on my neck. Seems Terry poured the corn beef liquid and fat from the slow cooker down the disposal in the sink. I cleaned it up and thought all was well. The reverse osmosis system attached to the sink is now screwed up. Water all over and called the plumber at 4:50pm. For him to come out is $250 after 5 and the normal $75 per hour charge is $125. He talked me through getting everything turned off and drained but still leaving the sink faucet working. Plus he said parts for the system are not carried in stock. He’ll come out Monday to see what the issue is.
The guys have a table at a train show this weekend. They picked up yesterday 25 weathered freight cars that are listed for $50 each 5 Exactrail reefers for 75each and 5 with custom graffiti for $100 each. My portion of the tables is $33.00 so selling at least 1 unit would be nice.

Good Morning All. Clear and 45° now, but it will rapidly head up to 83° around noonish or so. Might hit 90° on Tuesday before possible rain on Wednesday. Calm now, but the south wind will pick up in a couple of hours and start bringing up Gulf moisture.
Another day on the tractor yesterday mowing the NE part of the yard along the road. I'll do the SE part today. I'm seeing early signs of greening Bermuda Grass in spots that the Winter Rye didn't cover. It's ahead of the trees budding this year; unusual but it happens some years. Picked up another cart load of firewood from an obscure part of the yard, but I didn't stack it yet. It's logs that the lumberjack crew cut, so I need to trim some of it up so it stacks well. They left many protruding twigs and branch stubs on some of it and a few need to be cut in half.
I only ran trains out in the train shed yesterday, mainly between doing various tasks in the yard. I did a couple of locals and ran some thru freights to interrupt the action. I believe that my next project will be a partial reorganization of the parts/supplies under the layout. I have five of those multi-drawer small cabinets and two rolling 3-drawer bins that are scattered in 4 places under the layout. I need to centralize all of them over near the workbench. It's mainly a matter of just moving stuff out of the way, moving the bins and then organizing the stuff that I move out. Probably a quarter of that stuff will hit the dumpster and a couple of tools will move to the shop. Then I'll have another few empty places to hoard stuff. It could be completed in a couple of hours depending on what mysterious or interesting finds that I make.
Yesterday I posted about the lawn chairs from MiniPrints that I painted Wednesday.
I still need to give them a shot of Dull Coat, but I will wait a few days to see what else I can do at the same time. Probably will paint the Adirondack chairs that I also got from MP. They're already primed.
Tom O - Likewise here, other than my late brother's funeral, no suit or sports jacket here either since retirement in 2015. But I never had to wear one for work my entire career! I have two suits, one that fits me now and one that fits me when I was 40# heavier!
That's a drag about the sink drain. At least it dripped on you and not the freight cars!
Marlin - Interesting looking structure. The whole scene looks good next to my spartan ones.
Todd - Oh my! I hope that there is nothing too seriously injured. It appears that you have your work cut out for you today.

With the “new” ipgrade with the ads, besides the t-shirt women on Etsy and all the Temu crap I saw an ad for Tina’s burritos. That surprised me. They’re the one cheap / inexpensive frozen burrito that I actually like. I’ve been buying them off and on since the late 80s. When I was younger and working in an office I’d bring them and microwave them. At home I put cheese on them and microwave them and add salsa and sour cream if I have it.
Probably been a year since we last bought them but every once in a while I’ll see them on sale. Not something I’d have thought you’d see an ad for.

Today it’s already upper 40s or low 50s but overcast and supposed to rain. It did t get much below the upper 30s over night. Earlier this week it was colder. Spring weather. Always changing.
In two months (from yesterday) we’re going to Japan again. It will have been almost 2 1/2 years. Without a job we wouldn’t be going normally but I’d already bought the tickets and also used points that were expiring for 5 nights of hotel. Most of the rest of the time we’ll be staying with family so our actual chat shouldn’t be that great. And we have a small cash stash there that the wife controls. She got a small amount of money from her mom when her mom passed on. We leave it with her sister and use it while we’re there. Unfortunately I don’t have a train budget this time around (unless I get a great job between now and then).
There is one KATO commuter train from Osaka I’d like to get. It’s the JR 323 but painted with the special “Expo 2025 Osaka” livery instead of the normal orange one they use for the Osaka Loop Line. But it’s ok. Not like I don’t have enough trains anyway. I’m just partial to special liveries and especially ones from Kansai (the region of which Osaka is the main city), as that is where the wife is from and where we’ve spent the most time.
We’ll be going to Hokkaido for a few days and see my son for an afternoon. Right now he is in a city called Otaru, which is part of greater Sapporo area. By then we do t know if he’ll still be there. So we’ve just booked two nights in Sapporo and we’ll figure out the rest when we know where he will be at. We also have 3 nights in Tokyo. Always things to do there. I think my daughter mainly wants to go shopping. I’m going to try and hit special train based shops and displays and museums and stuff. KATO has a special factory display and store I think that I’ve not been to. And there are a bunch of other manufacturers or outlets that I’ve not seen in the area.
I may swing $20 worth of containers. See if there are new ones I don’t have. Tomix and KATO containers are generally really inexpensive. Some of the smaller brands are more expensive (though in US terms still cheap). I often buy a pack of special liveries containers from a smaller brand and a couple packs of atomic and or KATO. Tomix has a lot more variety than KATO does but still are more mainstream with fewer special editions.
Probably been a year since we last bought them but every once in a while I’ll see them on sale. Not something I’d have thought you’d see an ad for.

Welp... my afternoon turned fun.
For some reason neither Lowes or Menards have the right Price-pfister replacement cartridge in a couple in other brands that looked close to the right configuration, but the back of box didn't list my faucet ... wife wants it fixed so it stops dripping. Thought it was a two tool job, and one hardware store trip.
Brought home a new Delta single handle faucet (which I prefer). Both of the hardware stores stock a lot of delta replacement/repair parts.
But, whoever installed the previous one used plumbers putty under the sink. Yes, it's easier to clean up, but it ages and doesn't lock the sink in place once it "dries" out. So, I'm having to pull the sink, caulk underneath, and replace it all. Oh joy!
