Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 56°. Here's the view towards the east at 0635 this morning.

Good morning from the Upper Midwest USA. Smudge617 was ordering a full English as I was heading to bed. So, yep I qualified as a sleepy head! I am so honored.

Today the weather is again confused. We had a Wintery “mix” fall upon us overnight. The streets are white and the sidewalks look like ice. But, it’s above freezing at 36f degrees. Heading to the high 40’s, I will continue the use of the treadmill.

The ladies have plans starting with brunch out around 11 and the son in law and the nieces boyfriend were not invited. But somehow I am the designated driver. 5 women and their driver. I am so not looking forward to this. I was told when I drop them off I will have time to stop at Michaels, Rosati pizza for a Chicago beef and the LHS. One of the other hubbies was also drafted as a driver for another group joining them.

Sold some stuff last night on Facebook.

I put up my reefer with graffiti using decals and custom tags on one side and mentioned in the post I had some high positioned reporting marks and numberEd ARMN/UP cars unweathered available. My duplicates I decided I was not going to use.

15 minutes later I have sold 13 unweathered cars and had payment from 4 different guys. About an hour after I did the packaging and maybe 90 minutes after I listed the items the graffiti car sold. While packaging that one I get a FB Message asking if the graffiti one was still available. Apologized that I didn’t take down the post he then asked what else was available. Told him only the 1 graffiti car I was finishing up on and sent him some photos, he took it.

So, I pulled the post, double checked the addresses and labeled the boxes. Get another message from the TOBX guy and says we have met at the last 2 shows I have gone to. He says he knows I weather pulp and center beams as that’s what I did for his friends. Ok, now I sort of remember him talking about tank cars. Asked if I could do tank cars? Duh, yeah and sent pictures.

Told him my rates. Then asks when can I do them? Thinking it was around 3 cars, the answer is generally 3-4 weeks after I receive them and in groups no more then 9. He will drop off 45 cars when I get back in a couple weeks. Thankfully he needs them completed by September.

All this started as I decided at the last minute to try to get rid of the graffiti reefer. You never know…

enjoy the day

sounds like Reefer Madness.

Better be careful. You never know what kind of trouble you might get into.

Now for the regularly scheduled post. Expecting a high of 84° today, after 76° yesterday. Still in the upper 70's for the rest of the week. Maybe rain on Wednesday and Thursday. I noted yesterday that the Weeping Willow, Cottonwood, and Redbud trees were budding out, a sure sign of spring here. Windy day yesterday, but it did abate enough that I was able to grill steak last night. Didn't dry out enough for me to stack up that firewood, so that is on the agenda today - need to get it up off the ground.

Thanks for the reactions yesterday to the doggie pictures, more today.

Once again, I mostly ran some trains out in the train shed yesterday. I did do a bit more ground detailing around the Ethanol refinery, added a little ground cover and installed a concrete catchment berm around the storage tanks. First coat of paint went down just prior to abandoning and opening a brew. I'll see what it looks like today.
How about a couple more doggie pictures today?

Geesh, NS's butt is really hanging out there now. Nother derailment in Springfield OH. No Haz from what is being said on the news.
There's over 1000 reported train derailments a year in the US, we didn't used to hear about them all. Now we will hear/read about each and every one of them for a while. And I'm sure that there's also many that do not get reported by shortlines doing localized switching in industrial parks. This will go away once the next newsworthy disaster hits.
Sherrel -
Can you give me the address of that trailer in photo #6?
That's in Petticoat Junction.
Karl - Nice progress on the layout.

Everybody have a great day.

Also, from what I can figure the new Iphone now will NOT charge unless the power source is green friendly. What? There is a button to turn it off.

That's not exactly how it works. IF your region has known "clean energy" time periods it will optimize for that, based on your usage pattern (ie, it tries to learn when your down times are and use those times to charge or to make sure it is charged for when you normally "go to work").

I've noticed my phone doesn't fully charge over night since most days I don't get close to empty and not charging to 100% supposedly is good for the battery. I've not run out yet so hopefully it is learning good things. (Yes, you can turn this stuff off as well).

No ones phone is not charging (unless there is a bug someone has tripped on).

I like the idea of the color laser printer. I have yet to buy one as I don't print in color much. I already have a black and white laser and an ink jet.

I ditched ink jet a decade or more ago for all. Been using laser for B&W since the 90s. I still use my late 90s HP 2100tn for B&W. It jams a bit more often now (not that often and mostly when the last 20-30 pieces of paper are in the tray) but the cartridges are dirt cheap and high capacity. It works for me.

Bought a color (Konica Minolta) laser like 12 years ago. It fell off a table and cracked and so I bought another. I don't print color that often but it is really nice when I need to. It also gets used for B&W some of the time -- usually by accident (choosing the wrong printer). It is also quite cheap to run.

Morning from the West where it is 43 and going up to 58 with partly sunny - no moisture materialized in this neighborhood, but I suspect there was "some" up north.
FLO, good to have you back this morning! I would like to have one of MEL's garbage omelets with some cottage fries, wheat toast, and a refill on the coffee. Last night's dinner left me hungry this morning!

Had a birthday party at the ranch last evening; sort of a last hurrah for the place. It was the youngest SIster's birthday and she thought it would be nice to meet there, eat pizza, drink wine, and cokes and reminest of all the dinners we had there, The closing is supposed to be shortly.
She is a Vegan person - so there was nothing but cheese pizza - I have to say that it was not bad, but I prefer more of a garbage pizza - the more stuff on it - the better!

KARL - That bench work and the spline roadbed looks "stinking" beautiful! You are quite the craftsman. My first layout was constructed with splines that I cut myself, but I did not use spacers - it was all the strips glued together in order to form a solid roadbed, which I sanded smooth and laid most of the main line track direcctly on top.

Ahhh - FLO's here with my omelet - BBL

FLASH BACK! My first P/U truck was a second hand late 50-early 60 'Blue and White' Chevrolet exactly like that one that Willie has in his photos. I want to say that I think I paid $6-700 for it and I cannot remember why I traded it: Perhaps just because I wanted a "new" one and likely let a salesman talk me into it?

GUY - Good to see your posting again - welcome back!

JAMES - Are you going to let us see your new fishing buddy (lady), or you just going to keep showing old boxcars? 😁

Ahhhh.....Sherrel you crack me up! Well I would like to share that but she is a private person. We will have pics when fishing season starts in a matter weeks. Needless to say I will need to ask her permission to share any pics. I am very careful about posting pics. She is a high profile dignitary in her profession as a CFO. I will say she is a looker for sure. She is 5'-11" and well I am 5'-9 3/4". So ya, she is taller than me. Super long blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes like a doe. She has a fantastic figure for her age. I do appreciate her for sure. Anyways you will have to wait....I will keep posting trains and freight cars until then ;):D

Speaking of printers: mainly I use a Brother HL-2070N black/white laser that I bought for $89.00 back in 2005.
I just ordered my second replacement toner cartridge at $17.95 from Ebay. This thing works beautiful - I hope it never quits!
Bought the Spousal Unit a Brother HL-3170CDW color - it's OK, printers great, but I just have not needed a color printer - so seldom use it.

Hi gang, the dutch girl is back. Sorry, I missed the entire February part of the forum and most of the first month of this year.
Hope all of you are fine. USA trains are not...what about NS? Was on our news and not looking good. What the h... happened. When you run a train with a load like that (first incident) you better be sure the track is in good condition. Has that train hit something?
See you guys, missed you.

Welcome back.
Train hit nothing, it appears to have been a bad wheel bearing that went unnoticed.
There is more trouble now, the company sent the hazardous stuff away to the proper places, and now people inthose places are howling.
