Good morning from a warming Wisconsin for the next few days. High 40’s later.

Breakfast for 12 here at 9. Hockey later. The girls are going to ride this afternoon along with some of the daughter’s friends. The son flies out to Duluth after the game and my brother is tagging along. The hockey team dad’s are handling the tournament after party. One of the parents owns a couple local hotels and they are using the pool. Me, I get some needed alone time.

enjoy the day

Morning all,

Hopefully a bit slower here today. got laundry to deal with a I couldn't get much done yesterday. Still stiff from yesterday and ache in places I forgot I had. Riding mower battery seemed to take a charge the second time around, but I had to charge it at 8 amps instead of the 2 I thought would work. May be the temps as Friday and yesterday were in the 60's.

46° and headed for a high later of 75° with gusty winds to about 45 mph. Temps in the low 40's all this next week.

Good Morning All!
23F @ 69% and overcast. Supposed to be 40ish later.

Geesh, NS's butt is really hanging out there now. Nother derailment in Springfield OH. No Haz from what is being said on the news.

Also, from what I can figure the new Iphone now will NOT charge unless the power source is green friendly. What? There is a button to turn it off. Most people don't want to get into the phone innards, and will really bi tch. Do they really want to sell phones? Go figure.

On the home front, have the metal for under the laser cutter sanded, paint today. Wife has been eyeball'n the mud room for paint. Ya, she started moving stuff yesterday so I suspect that she will need help. Means this computer goes away for a bit; printer and plotter too. No big deal there though. Gonna bring in the scaffolding in as the ceiling is almost 12 feet; slopes down to 8. She will get to push me around with roller in hand. We do pretty good as a team, so it should not take too long. 2 coats probably after the inside corners get done.

Wish me luck!

Later

Francine - how are you this morning? Coffee please with a plate of MEL's bacon and biscuits with gravy .. thank you!

44 degrees here and only looking at 55 for a high with partly sunny and possible showers.

I started moving firewood from the back of the truck to around back next to the family room where the fireplace is. The Spousal Unit was happy to see a fire again -- mee too - as she has been freezing me this winter!
Walmart later on to get the pups some treats - they are sitting looking at me with the "where are they"?

As my Uncle used to say, "Be Good - If you can't be good, be careful."

WILLIE - Can you give me the address of that trailer in photo #6?

FLASH BACK! My first P/U truck was a second hand late 50-early 60 'Blue and White' Chevrolet exactly like that one that Willie has in his photos. I want to say that I think I paid $6-700 for it and I cannot remember why I traded it: Perhaps just because I wanted a "new" one and likely let a salesman talk me into it?

GUY - Good to see your posting again - welcome back!

JAMES - Are you going to let us see your new fishing buddy (lady), or you just going to keep showing old boxcars? 😁

Good Afternoon, folks!

I've not been in for a-bit, preferring to be a lurker while I'm not working the train hobby business.

You might remember, my wife asked me to find a contractor to completely redo our main bathroom in the house. Long story short, I couldn't get a call-back from all the contractors I tried, so I got angry enough that I decided to do it myself. Since then, I've researched and studied, and became an overnight amateur in trades other than what I'm trained to do.
I am a tradesman anyway (journeyman electrician), so I know quite a-bit about the construction industry anyway.

I've been working away at it. Not really in any hurry, as we have two other washrooms in the house. I'm just trying to do things right.
Here's a few photos where I'm at.
I got the new plumbing done, and threw in a new bathtub. There was a jacuzzi there before, but, I don't like them.
I've been trying to salvage the vanity. Now I'm thinking I'll get rid of it and build a new one.

Where I'm at now, is tar papering the wall in the bathtub/shower pan. Tomorrow, I'll put up the Glasroc backer-board. Then, I'll membrane it with thinset:

New 12x24 porcelain tiles should be in this week sometime.

I know there's been a couple of fellas posting their own bathroom reno's recently, and I have been noticing as a lurker. Well done, indeed!

Anyway, this years modelling season is a no-go. Hope to get back into it when I'm done with the wife's honey-do's. She wants the house exterior painted too, so I don't know when I'll get back to the trains. As it is, the layout hasn't moved an inch in 2 months.

Just thought I'd drop in and say hello, before yu'all forget I was ever here.

Have a great day.
You may want to add some blocking for safety bars etc so you have something solid to screw into. Write its height on the wood and take a photo to reference later.

Thanks, Swal. I've already added all the backing blocks that I believe are required. Soap dish, glass door or curtain, and I've firred it out to be level vertically. It needs to be level all ways with no bow, allowing for the large tiles. Most of that was done after the posted photo.

Willie - I decided to gut the place completely and redo everything, as the wife wants a more modern look. She also say's she will retire soon, and don't want to mess around with this type of work when we're both doing nothing but fishing ad hobbies. This is the last time to renovate for me, so I may as well do it all and do it right.

Thank you all for the large number of likes on yesterday's post. That was unexpected, since I've not been around for so long.
I did want to visit more, but, it takes too long to sit with my nose in a computer, and I was trying to make progress on home and family matters. I've also been helping to fix my son's new house and make it right.

I am still taking the odd photo of a pole growing out of the local train operations:

Maybe when I'm done all this work, I can get back to walking the tracks and taking more photos to post.
Plus, we are going to the British Columbia coast in June. The wife is going for fishing and crabbing, and I'm going for BC Rail photos and fishing. Not sure if BC Rail has a lot of poles available.

Well, I'd better get back to work. Have a wonderful day. And you folks out east; give us back our snow, please. We don't have much here, and that's unusual.

McLeod: If you get close to Vancouver ( BC ), try and get to the ButterFly exhibition. Wonderful place. Also, Fraser Canyon is a great rail fanning ( BCRail and CN ) area. Last time I went all you needed to do was to find a spot that *looks* like it would be great background, pull off the road and wait 10/15 minutes for the next movement to come by. Ya, there are poles, but more trees and rocks!

I was going to add glass doors until a few of my friends said they have one shower with glass doors and one without and they use there none glass door shower because glass doors are a pain to keep clean.

glass doors are a pain to keep clean
We put in a glass door when we remodeled about six years ago. Wife bought a squeegee and a wall mount to use. Told me to use it every time. I did so religiously every day for years. Fast forward three or four years, and I entered the bathroom about ten minutes after she finished showering and noted that she didn't use it. I haven't used it since. We have extremely soft water and it isn't noticeable that it isn't being cleaned, just rinses off by itself.
