41° and raining. High wind and coastal floodig warnings are up through 0400 tomorrow.

I appreciate all the kind words concerning my recovery from heart surgery. Thank You all. Next week, I will set up Cardiac Rehab, to improve my strength. Also adding protein to my diet.

We walked at the Reservoir this morning, before we went food shopping. We took a different trail and added about an additional 0.3 miles walked to our previous walks at the Reservoir. My speed is also better, not spectacular, but faster.

This evening we tried a new recipe for Roasted Flounder with Lemony Almondine, with baked potato and cole slaw. Delicious....better than expected. Recipe was found in the NY Times, of all places.

Sherrel: This weather y'all are encountering, will soon pass, and you will be back to hot dry conditions...

Morning.

Can't remember if I mentioned it yesterday, but I re-injured my back. Bending over to get clothes out of our dryer (a Maytag)

I've been telling myself I need to build a pedestal for the dryer. It's a high-capacity one, so it sits a few inches lower than I'm used to.

Round two of the pulled muscle is worse than round one. Got smart and started with an ice pack yesterday. I'm ok standing, or sitting. It's the in between, like in a recliner with my feet up that are the issue. And, that's where I want to be.

Back to strong aleve, and staying mostly stationary. Although I did just move to the desk chair. It's actually more comfortable for wording words.

Oh, and online meetings all day starting at 10. Going to be a long day of sitting

Good morning gang!

38° and clearing. Rain stopped about 3 a.m. Looking for a high of 49°.

Sitting on the work puter today. Got here around 6, washed and vacuumed my truck. Gotta open the doors at 8, with 1 appointment scheduled for today. Me and 1 tech have to be here til 2 so maybe I'll wax the truck, or toss a football around or watch YouTube.

Yeah, looks bad considering a month ago a typical Saturday had a dozen appointments and 2-3 techs. Even the weekly work load is tapering off. Just wonderful.

Good morning train lovers. So. Central Wisconsin is clear and bright. 29f degrees now high 40’s later.

The grandson has his 1st hockey game at 9:45 this morning 33 minutes away in Sun Prairie. They haven’t done well in first games of tournaments this season so hopefully today will be different. The family is here to root him and the team on.

Breakfast will be out after the game and the reservations were done earlier in the week. Depending on if they win game 1 will determine the next game start either at 2:15 if they lost or 4:30 if they win. The girls are near places to shop, the 4 of us guys have located a few possible places to visit. Dinner is home around 7 at the daughters with my brother and son in law grilling today.

Trains today. I looked in on the locomotives I am weathering. They seem dry but there is no time today. The plan was to work on them Monday but it looks like I will have time Sunday, again depending on the grandson’s game time.

enjoy the day

Morning all,

Limb yard closed until 9:00a so I can't get them out of the truck until then. Closed yesterday, but I didn't know until I got there.

Got more stuff to get accomplished yet that doesn't involve the trains. So probably not going to happen this weekend.

I was saying the other day I had lint clogging up my wastewater plumbing system. I added a 3-inch pipe to my 1 1/2-inch washer discharge pipe and slipped on a lint filter to the discharge pipe. This is the result after 1 wash. About a half inch of lint caught in the filter. I can see how over a 2 year period the pipes can get clogged. I have to keep an eye on it now and keep on moving the filter up and down so it can do it's job.

Good Morning All. Clear and 44° with the sun barely peeking over the horizon. Warming up to just 75° today! Should be in the 80's on Monday, rain starting Tuesday for the rest of the week. A little bit of sunshine yesterday felt real good for a change. Things are starting to dry out, just a bit. That storm system that ripped through here apparently did some major damage after it moved east.
I had a chance to walk around the garden yesterday to observe no hail damage, but there was some minor damage to the plants on the back porch that I didn't rescue on time Thursday afternoon. I suspect that I will lose one tomato and two lettuce plants as a result.
Yesterday's weekly grocery trek went as planned, even being a day late. I went earlier than normal, so the Friday crowd hadn't shown up yet. Then we made the dreaded trip across the street to the local Walmart, wife's insistence. I used the expired handicap parking permit to park closer than I otherwise could. But there were still unused spaces left so I didn't have any guilt. There was the usual Walmart madness inside and the usual quirky customers. I did note that they had removed one of the usual three sheriffs deputies from the store, so I guess that things are returning to normal. The Walmart on the other side of town does not have a police presence, but it is a much bigger hassle to shop there with narrower aisles and reduced product selection. I also noticed that they have removed the directional arrows from the floor and overhead signs, that most people ignored to begin with. I also only saw one person asleep in a motorized cart in an out of the way corner in the paint department. Might have been others elsewhere though.
Stopped for delicious take-out BBQ on the way home.

Today is a day of rest. I/we had to be somewhere every day this week, it was just like going to work all over again.

Thanks for the comments and reactions to the feline layout pictures yesterday.

Another day of not much activity out in the train shed yesterday. I did do some more painting on figures, but then put them up so I could do something different today. No real results since I did just one color at a time on a selection of about two dozen different ones and didn't finish any one. Not all got all colors, I might have painted black on 8, then yellow on 3, then blue on another 7. There was one Chinese one that I did surgery on since I had duplicates of one that I just couldn't use, I have no passenger facilities on my layout.

Paint job on this one kinda sucked anyway.
Note the excess flash on the leg on the left, it's actually the foot that seemed to have seeped through the mold. Trimmed that off, removed the luggage on that side, and shortened the luggage on the right to resemble a purse.
IMG_3134.JPG

Of course that side is now shorter. I continued by filing the mold ejection marks on the back, slimming down the arms to give her short sleeves and removing some other excess plastic.
IMG_3135.JPG

OK, the short leg is next. Over the years, I have had to remove lower body parts from many figures in order to fit them into drivers seats in vehicles. I saved them all and I selected this one for her.
IMG_3136.JPG

Did some further trimming and now we have a bionic woman.

On to the paint shop.
Hmmmh! I either lost/deleted the rest of the pictures or forgot to take them! I'll get some more today.

Tom O - As you probably already know, private property is indeed private property around here. Yes, there are some protected wetlands and stuff like that, but most folks respect that anyway here in the country. The city is something different. Look at what happened to Houston during Hurricane Harvey a few years ago. They basically have paved over the entire area instead of leaving nature's water absorption fields alone. that led to extensive flooding.
Curt - No known hail damage except for the three plants noted above, and they're not a certainty yet. This hail was too small and was coming sideways and just skipped over the car.
Hughie - You're right about 4014, here's my shot taken about 18 months ago.

Troy - Sorry to read of your new back issue. Get well soon.

Today, March 4, used to be Inauguration Day. If you can remember that far back, you're much older than me. Today is probably special to authors like Troy; it is National Grammar Day. March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and ... Believe me, the nuns back in grammar school really emphasized that to me and my classmates. Remember when it was still called grammar school?

Everybody have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Good morning. It's "mostly sunny" and 80.
This morning, I washed the trailer. It was clean when I moved here, but they're building a new road in front of me, and the clouds of dust daily have made the thing look pretty grubby. And hour and a half later, it's clean--for about 3 days...

The dryer didn't come with a pedestal. And I don't want to spend the $$$ on a metal box. Not when $50 in 2x4 and some plywood solves the problem
Troy: Make sure that if you do the wood and screws part you use *long* screws and glue them in. Dryer does not vibrate as much as a washer, but you still have it which will work stuff loose. Don't ask me how I know!

Morning - Watching the local (LA) news of the "digging out" of the snow at Crestline! They really got buried and the local grocery roof collapse, and the roads in an out of the town are closed, and, and, and.... Area has not seen that much snow from the early 80's!

We are 36 degrees heading towards 61 with clear sunny skies.

FRANCINE, Scrambled with sausage, biscuits, and gravy. Couple slices of whole wheat buttered, please! Oh how about a DP, diet, to drink?

There getting all of Illinois snow that hasn't transpired yet this year!

They can have it. I've used my snowblower only twice so far this year.

My "problem" is that eero is owned now by Amazon. I don't invite Amazon services into my home at all. (I do buy a metric crap-load of stuff from amazon almost daily it seems -- my beef is anything network service oriented that os owned by Amazon -- Alexa, Ring, eero, etc. Don't trust them with access to my home).
I wish I could show you the confidential agreement I signed to be an Amazon contractor. I can tell you I had to agree to allow them to listen and or watch me through the phone anytime the app is running. I have no problem with the agreement. I read it; I knew what I was getting into. I have a separate phone I use primarily for Amazon.

My problem is the potential to have things done behind my back.

Ethics matter to me.

Afternoon All,

Back from my buddy Tom's house with the rest of the MRR group. We had a good time. One of the guys had a brand new BLI PRR E6 (4-4-2) that was new out of the box. Needless to say no one could get it to work (no lights, no sound, no movement) even after a factory reset. Same thing happened to me with their PRR H10 (2-8-0) that I bought brand new.

Hughie- Great photos. I saw a Big Boy at Steamtown. The size was incredible.

Joe- Nice passenger car. Great to see a Pennsy freight house still standing. I believe that Micro Mark has the same style kit produced by Scientific.

Troy- I hope you feel better. When I hurt mine, I can't get comfortable sitting, standing or laying down.

Karl- Hopefully it's a temporary slump.

I hope everyone has a good night.
