I am travelling back in time.
A picture of my layout on 1914.

Bar me if you like. I am off to make dinner. Chicken and mushrooms with plums.
I am making plenty. Be here for 7.40pm.

You bring up a good point! So, What's fair for all?

How is this situation resolved?
It seems reasonably clear by the majority of active forum members, that they want things left alone, as is. There are indeed good arguments for both sides. However, the majority would not like to see a dictatorial atmosphere brought into the shop, and would like to post what they want, when they want, within the common sense rule boundaries.

And I add, dosen't this site have a search function for those to are seeking advice on a specific subject?!

I truly do believe that most people like the coffee shop the way it is, or was.

Hughie nailed it.

And, SMUDGE, Sherrel has said several times in other places that he's requested to be taken off moderator status, but Bob hasn't done so yet. Better to PM Terry or Bob about things.

As I said before: One does not use red text, several ALL CAPS words in strategic spots, and sentences like "... keep this place for all NON-HOBBY related topics..."

That's an "edict"

I can say without a doubt I am happy to see you old buddy!
I only returned to state my case or feelings. I won't return full time until the situation is resolved to everyone's satisfaction. I would better understand the edict if Karl were to be giving step by step instructions on using spline, or if Willie was going into detail how to set up a quarterly cleaning program. But simply posting a photo or two showing that you are currently doing, to me at least, doesn't warrant creating a thread.

Hey! That's not a protest rock photo!

How dry is the driest Martini you ever had? How dry is the Sahara? How dry is the Mongolian desert?

Not nearly as dry as the tone of my voice here. I'm veritably dripping with dryness, in fact.

From post #709: "We forgave the British when they burned Washington...".

Yes we did. So....<spoken dryly. I think I mentioned that>.........

[Open political rant]

........................................Where are the British when we need them........................................

[Close political rant].

I was going to watch a ball game. Instead, I'm watching the Unforgiven on Grit. And following the games on MLB.com during the commercials.

I have no idea how many times I have seen this movie.
While I'm here, I have a few of photos. They are not mine. But if you post on the internet anybody can snatch it!

Quik Quiz. Re the photo of #5128: A snoot. It was a distant forerunner, back then, of...what commonly used thing we have (real-railroading has) today?

The answer is a three letter anacronym.

[note: Searching the internet isn't allowed]

Re my last query about why US rail sections are/were 39' long?

Anyone want to hazard a last guess?

Can you explain further please, are you saying your uncomfortable posting in an appropriate thread, but happy to do so in the coffee shop, have I understood that correctly ?
Because in my opinion, the coffee shop is the place to comment. That's always been the attraction here at the "modelrailroadforums.com". I can make multiple comments in one place, at one time. For example comment on the weather, what's going on in my neighborhood, health matters, respond to multiple posters, include photos of my layout and or prototype railroads, or fire trucks, all in one post at one time and all without deviating the topic. In a specific topic forum, I can only comment concerning the topic....then go to another topic for an additional comment. I don't bother with specific topic strings, because to me they are inconvenient. There are numerous categories available for those who like that way, and the coffee shop for those that prefer Free Form. Personally, I don't see a problem with the way it was, and someone's need to upset the apple cart and piss so many people off.

No not really, I think we were giving Tony the benefit of the doubt over acting like a (dictator) with the red edict
I know you did not mean he was a murderous bastard.

It is going to be ok Jaz, our coffee shop will return to normal soon, I promise.
Many of us are upset, we tend to say and do things we would not normally say and do when we are upset.

I feel it too. Jeffery was my friend, and this goes against everything I knew of him.

Reminds me of the Sunday morning NPR puzzle with the New York Times puzzle master. I seldom know the answer, but the quiz is fun!

Ok fair enough, I have no idea if there was a complainant about that and I agree to a point, but and I stress this is NOT a complaint, merely an observation, and I'm going to use Willie as an example, so sorry Willie.

Willie I think we can all agree is an excellent modeller, his layout is comprehensive and very diverse, with varied scenery, building's etc. he has spent a lot of time and energy to get the layout to where it is, and is still not complete.

Now, Willie only post's in the coffee shop, I know he post's in other thread's with his extremely diverse knowledge of American RR's and advice on other topic's, but his layout as far as I can find, can only be found in the shop.

Now as someone who loves his work, in order to follow this work, I have to trawl thro' a myriad of post's concerning the weather, Cooking tip's, the NBL NFL, BBQ sauce Gravy etc. etc. which is fine, that is what the shop is all about, I get it, but I have little interest in most of it as it's either of no interest or it's happening a couple of thousand miles away, but if something catches my eye I'll comment as you know.

I would myself, (again this is my opinion) prefer Willie to have his own thread for his layout, where someone like myself can follow ask question's about his work, without trawling thro' 101 post's to get, to my mind, the ONE golden nugget of his layout.

Now I know you'll probably say "well scroll past till you get to what you want" My answer is I can't, the coffee shop is locked away every month, and by the time I find something I want to ask Willie about, in a post say 18 months ago, by the time I've returned to present day, I'll probably have forgotten.

Now Willie has been a member for 12 years, so if I want to go back to the beginning, assuming he started his layout post's soon after becoming a member, how many thousand of previous post's do you think I would have to trawl through.

Back to the Coffee Shop. Since 2017, or so, when Rapido announced EMD FL-9 diesels, painted in Penn Central Scheme, and 8600 series New Haven Coaches, in co-operation with the New haven Historical Society, I have been assembling a "Pike Sized" passenger train. I finally finished the fifth and last car the Cafe Lounge - Parlor Bronx County, in Penn Central paint, in addition to three 8600 coaches and a Parlor Car.

For some reason, the I-phone video is not recognized by the forum software, so I cannot upload it to share. I will try later using an Android phone.

It's cloudy and warm at the Jersey Shore this afternoon. Temp reached 84°.

In Philadelphia, a Tank truck caught fire under I-95 on Cottman Av (@ State Road), this morning, causing a major disaster. Fortunately, it was Sunday morning and traffic was light. A section of the highway, (Northbound), collapsed and the Southbound side is compromised. Authorities are unable to ascertain particulars at this time, but burning liquid leached into the sewers. Tomorrow's commute will be a disaster.

Baltimore over Kansas City, 11 - 3. Mets lose again . Pittsburgh 2 - 1 winner.
