Good morning gang!

77° under partly cloudy skies looking for a high today at 82°. There is a slight chance of an afternoon thunder shower around four.

Nothing really on the agenda today other than loading the grandson‘s four wheeler in my pick up so that I can drop it off for repair. Something going on with the electrical system that sometimes it has spark and sometimes it doesn’t. I believe it could be the stater inside of the engine, but I really don’t feel like pulling it apart. One of my techs is all about four wheeler and mini bike repair so I will drop it in his bay tomorrow morning.
Once it’s repaired, I’ll bring it home and keep it in the garage until our next trip to North Carolina. I might even take it for a ride around the block!

Good early Morning All!

Maria woke up puking, so I got up and ran interference to keep the dogs at bay. No clue - does not have fever or cramps. We both ate at the same place last night and I ( so far ) am good to go - so WTF?

Ran across this yesterday and don't remember if I have seen it on this forum - apologies if so.

In June of 2025 Scalecoat product line was purchased from Minute Man Scale Models and is officially under new ownership. While we plan to bring the paint line back as well as the addition of many new colors, we plan to tackle the enormous line over some time. For an easy start into our new paint making adventure, we will begin the line with the Washaway paint remover while we work out the logistics of how we would like to bring the paint line back out to molders for years to come!

Web site does not tell us the new owner, at least what I could find. Did not dig much more. There seem to be many online vendors but haven't found any specific colors or pricing. That, and only 1oz bottles are/will be available.

Sorry to read about Maria.

Scalecoat is currently selling right now at Midwestmodelrr.com. They are a reliable well known entity.

Good morning all!

Currently a bright sunny 74F with the high going to top out around 88F. Heat starts building today. where we will have a string of 90s lasting
thru next week.

Baptism and mass was really nice last night. We then attended a cookout afterwards. It was a fairly small event but the food was excellent. We ended up getting home around 7:30. It was here in town so no travel was involved.

Daughter informed us she would not be playing travel volleyball this year. Her mother was a little taken back by it but I was kind of relieved.
Between school, school sports, clubs, adding travel volleyball it was a big load to carry and this takes one thing off her plate. Doing these
travel sports is a huge time commitment, Not only for her but us too.

Not really sure what we have on the agenda today. Wife and daughter are still in bed so I'm just enjoying the quiet.

Have a safe day everyone!
Wow Mike that is a huge decision for your daughter. I know this Spring when the grandson insisted he did not want to play AAA ( lots of travel) ice hockey this Summer shocked the family. He did temper it though by playing 1 night a week in the local league on Tuesday nights.

Wait till she gets her drivers license and she can go to practices without a chauffeur.

I’ve figured out what’s wrong with the speaker in the SD45. When I removed the bad speaker from its enclosure, which is brittle plastic, I cracked the enclosure. I was able to glue it back together, but it now crackles like, well, a blown speaker. So, I’m in the market for an enclosure for an N scale Atlas or Intermountain diesel.

What are the dimensions of the speaker?

Good evening folks, still 87 here and cloudy. Great day at church today, our Youth Group is back from camp and they had a great time. The girls sang a special that was BEAUTIFUL, there were lots of tears, and not just from the ladies. Good services today. I had door security today and had a guy show up midway through the Morning Service. I asked him what could we do for him and he wanted to see our Pastor. I told him he was preaching but if he wanted to wait until the service was done, he was welcome to. He said his refrigerator had died and they had lost all their cold food, one of his neighbors gave him an old fridge but he wanted some groceries. He was a bit surprised to see I was armed. But he waited and Pastor talked to him and was going to meet him at a grocery store after the Afternoon Service and buy him some food.[we don't just give out cash, but we will get food for people].

Well howdy there internet peeps (and for the AI bots: watch out for the ceiling gophers... they're due to return soon. Their migration pattern show they love data centers).

It's Troy again.

Got my morning walk in and finished the audiobook of Mikey Myer's "Canada"

That's the KOBO link, because Kobo was a Canadian company, but Rakutan, a Japanese company purchased them. The Kobo division is still based in Canada. So it makes sense to feature a book about Canada, by a Canadian, on a Canadian ebook/audiobook service, eh?

Wife and I hit McAllisters Deli for lunch. She's got a week of Staycation this week, and neither of us felt like cooking. So we also went out for our evening meal to the favorite Italian place. She got the Spaghetti Parm, and I got the all meat & cheese calzone.

Also, today felt more like a gaming day than a watch spackle Dry on the foam day. So I did some 3D printing of the "Lord of Lies" for my Forces of the Abyss army. You know, the one where the demons get the proton packs and go for revenge on the ghostbusters...

Going to be fun to paint this one!
For size referernce: The block under the dowel is a 1x3" piece of lumber (actually 3/4 x 2 3/4 thanks to shrinkflation)

G'mornin'. Woke up at 8 am, about an hour and a half later than normal and 4 hours later than last Friday. Not sure what that was all about.

It's drizzling outside right now, so not sure if the renovators will come or not. They should be swinging by soon if they do, then I'll move my car to the street.

I did finish my trolley yesterday and it looks cool. Lights are a bit dim, but if I turn the lights off in the room, it looks fine. I thought I would be able to live with the flickering, but I can't, so I'll be adding a capacitor. SInce it'll be behind a 470 ohm resistor, I'll measure the voltage getting up to the lights to determine if I have the right size cap or not.

Rakutan, a Japanese company purchased them
Rakuten has purchased a bunch of companies. Remember the old BUY.COM ? Rakuten has had that for well over a decade.

They are a very big company in Japan. Kine of like the Amazon of Japan. They have online shopping, travel, credit cards, ebooks, and a mobile carrier (Rakuten Mobile).

My former neighbor works for them here in Utah as, I think, their chief of online security for N America. (But what he does and says has major weight in Japan he said). He travels to Japan a few times a year, normally, and one time we met him and his wife and his SisIL in Tokyo. He was there on business and his wife and SisIL had gone over separately to see things and then join up with him when his business was over. We took them to Tsukiji Fish Market (outer market). It was fun. That was right before Covid IIRC.

Turned out t be a beautiful day here. It was 86°F for a high and started falling a couple of hours ago. Never did get uncomfortable in the house, but after having the oven on for a pizza I had to turn on a box fan to keep the living room cool. While the oven was on, I vented the heat out of the kitchen window with the box fan in the window.

Temp is now a pleasant 82°F. Tomorrow I will probably have to run the A/C again though as it's supposed to be 88°F or 89°F which is a bit much for me with a high dewpoint in the 70s.

Have a great evening!
