73°F/72°F this morning. Good day everyone. High is supposed to be only 82°F, but under cloudy skies and very good chances of rain throughout the day.

Not much going on here today. There was a plane crash about 20 miles from here late Thursday night. A Beech Baron twin went down in a thunderstorm. Killed both aboard. They were in a really remote wooded area and didn't find them until after 0700 Friday morning. The second last ADS-B report was 55 KIAS (stalled it) at 3000 FPM rate of descent. The last report was 7000 FPM rate of descent at 180 KIAS. I don't imagine there was very much wreckage that was recognizable as an aircraft except maybe the engines.

My mushrooms opened overnight, but one fell over. Probably from the pounding rain last night. It really poured here for awhile before I went to bed. These aren't the variety of Amanita that I thought they were, so I have to get my field guides out again and search for it. I think by tomorrow, the caps will probably end up concave with the gills exposed along the edges.

That one umbrella must've come from walmart...

I just slid into the forum between bot #1704 and bot #1705.
I just had internet installed at my trailer at the lake. It was 76 F at 8 am when the installer started and 91 F when he left at 11:15.
He was soaked through, had his pants legs rolled up to his knees and his shirt unbuttoned.
I had the door unlocked for him and the A/C going for his inside work.

Earlier this week, I mentioned I found some vehicle kits to assemble. Here is a little progress.

The first new car my parents bought was a baby blue 1951 Studebaker.
I learned to drive in a black and white '57 Chevy 210 model ( 283 V-8 engine with a 4 barrel) with silver inset fender panels. The Impala had gold panels ( like this model) and the110 had no panels, just painted fender sides.
The '41 Chrysler police car and the jeep were in the same unsealed package. Police car partially painted but no wheels. That I will have to figure out and add the POLICE decals.
The blue pickup is a '35 Hudson.
Somehow, I wound up with 3 1940 Fords, the one without a hood did have an engine to show off.
Some times, when you acquire used and left over stuff, you get surprises, too.

Y'all have a great weekend.
If you have a garage on your layout, put cruiser up on a rack like it's getting serviced.

Anyway, nice day today, went to the train club meeting and had a good one. This club is much more organized with more people doing a lot of different jobs, than my last club where only a couple of people did almost all the work. Anyway hooked a young guy up with a half dozen old Roundhouse logging cars and a flat car with a crane to go with his Athearn Shay. Then hit HL and picked up some foam core magnets, model putty and a new steel ruler. Then had lunch and went to a new MR store [to me], nice little shop called Rail and Sprue, found some mixed bag styrene, and some fine sand for mixing with paint to make textured paint. Gonna see how that works for some streets and and ballast edges. Quiet night here, just made a fresh pot of coffee.

It never rose above 78°F here today and rained on and off several times. The low is to our east and is drawing cooler air from the northeast. I was a real treat to have the windows open in the middle of July. I don't ever remember that happening in the past.

I do remember wearing flannel shirts until early June though during a few springs.

The mushrooms are definitely Amanita, but cannot decide if they are Cleft-foot Amanita or the Destroying Angel Amanita. Both deadly though, and this is the first year they have popped up in this location.

Have a good evening all.

Well. woke up a little before 3 to pee, outta bed at 4 for the day.

Come down and hit the computer to see this:

OH Wow!
Now we just need to hear about Mitch who's "been hospitalized" for about a month with zero word while his wife visits Asia.

More later. First round of Coffee is on me today! Tell Flo if you want the special dark roast I had her brew up.

Good morning, Coffee Shop!
It's Sunday, 68°F (20°C) and partly cloudy.

WEATHER:
Mostly cloudy then becoming partly cloudy toward daybreak then becoming mostly sunny then becoming sunny late this afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

I'll be finishing (hopefully) the bathroom mirror/light install today.👍

Have a great day!;)

Good early Morning All!

Maria woke up puking, so I got up and ran interference to keep the dogs at bay. No clue - does not have fever or cramps. We both ate at the same place last night and I ( so far ) am good to go - so WTF?

Ran across this yesterday and don't remember if I have seen it on this forum - apologies if so.

In June of 2025 Scalecoat product line was purchased from Minute Man Scale Models and is officially under new ownership. While we plan to bring the paint line back as well as the addition of many new colors, we plan to tackle the enormous line over some time. For an easy start into our new paint making adventure, we will begin the line with the Washaway paint remover while we work out the logistics of how we would like to bring the paint line back out to molders for years to come!

Web site does not tell us the new owner, at least what I could find. Did not dig much more. There seem to be many online vendors but haven't found any specific colors or pricing. That, and only 1oz bottles are/will be available.

I "Googled" MinuteMan Scale Models and clicked on the site link shown and got a warning from my computer not to go there. I think they are out of business but don't know for sure. Scalecoat has a site with very little on it for sale.

Good morning human diner goer’s and the friendly 13,708 guests. So Central Wisconsin is a cool 60f degrees up 3 degrees from my getting up about 20 minutes ago or 6:10DST. Heading to 90!

Today I have just been informed is pack up Terry’s office starting at 9am. Gorilla Movers are coming today for her office, the 2 guest bedrooms and most of my cave furnishings! I knew about the other rooms but not the office. The movers come at noon and it shouldn’t take us an hour to pack the office

Terry and the daughter are taking the grandkids to see Moana, I was not invited. I will continue vegging out on the back deck and then the front porch. It’s my last week, we will be moved out by 7/20 as the closing is at 3:30pm 7/20. Not bad for a place we were going to list on 8/1/2026. There was a nice bidding war between 3 offers as our Realtor told us she had a list of buyers before we signed with her. We have not told our neighbors but after the movers are gone the Realtor will put the For Sale sign up. We were told the County wide inventory for $400,000 to $600,000 homes is 6 weeks.

From the realtor:
Dane County-wide inventory as of 6/1/2026 sits at an "Extreme Seller's Market" with roughly 1.1 to 1.5 months of supply. In high-demand hubs like Verona and Madison, the median Days on Market (DOM) is a blistering 6 to 8 days. Well-priced homes in this bracket are effectively gone in a week, often with multiple offers

I now believe it

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 76°. Is it going to rain or not??? It was in the forecast as far back as early last week and was backed up, removed, re-inserted for Tuesday; and is now back in for today. Maybe! There's a line of storms between Lawton and Oklahoma City, about 150 miles away, moving this way. But a lot can happen to the weather over 150 miles so we shall see.

Yesterday, I basically took it easy with the dishwasher being the most strenuous task on the schedule. I topped off the pool, so it should now rain profusely today! Considered mowing but decided to wait. Church this morning with a side trip down to the mailbox since we haven't picked up the mail since Thursday's grocery trek. We get daily e-mailed notifications regarding the deliveries and I know that there isn't anything real important there, but it will all get wet if it rains. The rain (if any) will dictate the rest of the days activities.

Nothing special out in the train shed yesterday either. Cleaned a few more structures and made some more "Insta-Fence" sections. Repainted that parking lot that I posted yesterday, and I will re-stripe it before installing the fence.

Kevin -
went to a new MR store [to me], nice little shop called Rail and Sprue,
That certainly is in an out of the way place.
David (Marlin) -
Check if your city made the list.

Orkin's 2026 Top Bed Bug Cities.
Phew! My city didn't make it!
Todd - Best wishes for Maria, I hope that it isn't something serious.

The late Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac was born on this day in 1943.

Everyone have a sensational Sunday.

Good morning all!

Currently a bright sunny 74F with the high going to top out around 88F. Heat starts building today. where we will have a string of 90s lasting
thru next week.

Baptism and mass was really nice last night. We then attended a cookout afterwards. It was a fairly small event but the food was excellent. We ended up getting home around 7:30. It was here in town so no travel was involved.

Daughter informed us she would not be playing travel volleyball this year. Her mother was a little taken back by it but I was kind of relieved.
Between school, school sports, clubs, adding travel volleyball it was a big load to carry and this takes one thing off her plate. Doing these
travel sports is a huge time commitment, Not only for her but us too.

Not really sure what we have on the agenda today. Wife and daughter are still in bed so I'm just enjoying the quiet.

Have a safe day everyone!
