No and I’m torn about taking any. I feel it might be too egotistical or maybe I’m worried people will laugh. Until last week only Terry and possibly the daughter have seen the canvases.
I call you on that one. You wouldn't have mentioned it if you weren't dying to show some to us. Go ahead. They're probably a whole lot better than me showing my ugly mug on every post that I make!!!o_O

Here's something that resembles a car oil filter, only smaller. This is the reason why I always insist that the dealer changes it at every oil change. They want to do it every other.

Good morning to the cap investigators, the penny hoarders and rest of us. I love to travel but being home is so nice! It’s 69f degrees at 8 am as I start typing here in So. Central Wisconsin. 84 later and still dry!

Back at Christmas 2025 at a party at the daughter’s I was approached by a couple I barely knew. I did know their son from the slot car racing sessions and them barely on the sidelines watching soccer. They asked me if I would paint them something for a room in their house. Surprised I told them I wasn’t an artist. She said you still weather trains and I said yes, she said your an artist. Not convinced I said thanks but no.

Mentioned it to Terry a few days later and she laughed and said I’ve been telling you for years to get some canvas and paint. You’re an Impressionist! I have had zero art appreciation classes and no intentions of ever taking one. Most artists I have met seem like actors, attorneys and bankers IMOO the perfect imagine of a snob. Well, I am now a snob. I have been painting small canvases since February basically during the extended model railroading funk time. I have done 3 canvases 3’x 4’ the rest smaller.

Like anything I do I fell deep into the painting on canvas hole. 21 canvases since February. The women who was part of the couple at the Christmas party was in our daughter’s office last week and the room I have been using for my weathering and painting on canvas Kait told me she left the door open. Her friend wandered in and saw my canvases. The daughter called me in California and asked if I wanted to sell any. I said sure except for the 1st one I finished! Price? I told her whatever her friend offered! I am now a paid artist and miraculously my sh.t no longer stinks!

I have no plans for the day other than trying to relax
Love it. I can't paint at all, at least yet, but my mother was a professional artist who sold some 2,500 paintings in her career...and she would applaud you. You always start somewhere, and you almost always move forward (and when you don't you only rarely slide back). Painting is well won skill, and it's worth the time and investment.

GO FOR IT! GO FOR IT! and GO FOR IT!

As far as art goes: If you are painting (or drawing, as I do), just paint what you see. If you see shapes and imagine your subjects, you might become more of an impressionist. If you focus more on the technique of brush strokes you might become a new Renoir...or a new Monet.

ANYTHING you develop will also translate well into your next model railroad backdrop. Just sayin'

I will offer one small criticism, and when it comes to criticism, and to being an artist, take them in the best way, lest you become defensive. Other people see things you just might not. But you can.

Tree branches. Branches almost always break "straight from the joint they come from" in a very common way: They break straight out, stiffly. After going far enough, many of them sag under their own weight, but not all. Some grow thick and strong and still go up.

It came to me about 20 hours ago when I was out clipping branches during the early morning hours...but it's true. I think.

Wow! A few pages since I joked about being paid. I trust you guys so let me think a bit about posting any pictures
Well...post 'em. I did that a while back with the drawings I did back in college, and we've had a couple more here who have done the same--the gal from England, whose name I can't remember right now was herself something of a painter. And she threw up a few.

WEATHER:
Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. A slight chance of thunderstorms early this morning then a chance of thunderstorms. Patchy fog toward daybreak. Humid with highs in the lower 80s. Light and variable winds becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Working on changing out a bathroom mirror and light later this morning.

Have a great day!;)

Well, howdy there internet impressionists, and post-impressionists

It's Troy again.
I think this was brought up yesterday but RIP to Johnny Gage

I have seen this post or one like it from just about everyone in my age bracket on the socials. Not a few of them said his show inspired them into paramedic or firefighting careers.

TOM: I just finished reading the chapter on Emily Carr in Charlotte Gray's book on "people and ideas who shaped Canada"

I'd love to see your work. It will be far better than mine. I fear that any talent I have for painting is coloring within the lines of someone else's sculpture. I do my storytelling with words, not with color. So I love to see what others do in mediums other than words.

Today looks like I'll be keeping the home-fires burning while the wife and her sis go hit the Farmer's Market. That means wife will want to fire up the dehydrator. I just put together a flat-pack kitchen cart for it.

I should probably mount that power strip to the side of the cart. Unfortunately, the dehydrator cord isn't long enough to reach the outlet to either side.

The tungsten putty showed up and I was surprised at how little it was. I pulled the cars apart and split the 15 grams into 3 pieces. The chassis had a lot of space inside.

Yeah, probably not going to affect power pick up much, but it does sound much better.
