Good morning all!

Currently its a sunny, humid 72F. The highs will get up around 88F. I didnt think it was supposed to be this warm this week, but some
rain tomorrow will knock the temps back down to the lower 80s.

Usual stuff around the house today. Going to meet up with my sister tonight for dinner before they head back to Texas.

Other than that, not much else going on.

Have a safe day everyone!

75°F/73°F this morning. Chances of rain increasing through Saturday. Strong storms possible tomorrow. We had quite the thunder and lightning show starting at 2300 and lasting until after I fell asleep last night. But, the storms were supposed to all calm down after sunset, so said the Talking Heads at 1800. No, these storms formed around 2230 just north of here and grew to storm size within 30 minutes. An entire line of storms developed east of here at around the same time, and there were numerous scattered thunderstorms that formed all over the area.

Partly sunny now, and even that is very filtered through a very high, thin overcast. Also very hazy.

Water main at the intersection two doors down ruptured last night. The intersection lies at the bottom of a rolling plain and was filling like it does when it rains hard. Willow's former owner came knocking on my door last night to let me know they would likely be shutting off the water for repairs. By the time I turned in at 2300 (just when the storms started), it looked like the Major Case Squad was at the intersection. Three utility trucks, two police vehicles, all lit up no less, one backhoe, and a dump truck.

The intersection was so lit up I didn't even have to turn the bedroom lights on to see my way around. The room A/C was running so whatever they did down there I couldn't hear. The thunder was loud and clear though. I guess they fixed it. I have water this morning after stockpiling a few pitchers and jugs in the refrigerator.

Have a safe day out there! Servus!

Good Morning All. Clear and 75°, weather geeks are predicting 101° today through Friday. Yes, it's a dry heat so it won't feel like much more. This is mostly what I have to look forward to until October. Although the NWS is predicting a wind shift from the SE on Sunday, which generally brings us rain; as the upper-level low moves over Louisiana and brings Gulf moisture to our area. We'll see if they are correct.

Nothing significant about my mundane day yesterday. Today starts with the dishwasher once again. Granddog is still with us and doing well. The local rabbits realize that she has not fully recovered from her leg surgery earlier this year, so they taunt her mercilessly, not really attempting to escape early but waiting until the last second. She actually only makes a half-hearted attempt anyway.

Nothing special to report from the train shed yesterday. Finished inspecting and cleaning the rest of the industrial spurs in the quarterly project clean-up area. I'll vacuum all track, main, sidings and spurs next before proceeding with structure and vehicle cleaning. For variety, many vehicles will get moved to different locations. I also intend to add graffiti to another of those ScaleTrains 86' boxcars, the DRGW one this time.

Chet - Thank you for the comment. I always liked your layout photos as well. I am able to spot some familiar structures in many of them. Thanks again for the opportunity to take some of them off your hands.
Swal -
The box cars look good Willie. Something new you're doing? Swal
Not really. I have graffiti on maybe 15% of my fleet. But a UP car just doesn't look right without graffiti of some sort.
John -
Just when Josh Hawley called for the resignation of the Postmaster General.
It may be a little unfair to condemn the Postmaster General, as he has a job in a bureau that essentially was created by Congress. And, unless you're in a hurry, USPS is still cheaper than UPS or FedEx for low-volume residential customers.

Today is bassist Greg Walker's 75 birthday. He played briefly for Lynyrd Skynyrd in the early 70's, but his main band was Blackfoot. One of their biggest hits was Train Train, appropriate for this Coffee Shop.

Everybody have a wonderful Wednesday.

My econami decoder came in so I installed it into my Consolidation. With the 28mm speaker (still small, but bigger than a sugar cube), it was loud, so I cranked it all the way down to 10. Sounds much better than a sugar cube as well. Also figured out how to reduce the intensity of the head/tail lamps. First time dealing with a soundtraxx.

Good morning folks, 80 here, heading for 89, nice not to have a prediction in the 90s. 50% chance of rain, although sunny right now. Hopefully the guy can get the lawn mowed today, while we can still see out, it's getting close to Jumanji territory. Got everything done yesterday that was planned, so today is a quiet one here. Church tonight is the only event for the day, it will be quiet there as the kids are at a Church Camp in Oklahoma this week.
Gonna try to do a bit of work on a TTrak module today.
@Kusojiji nice job on the Consolidation, who makes that one?

Good morning from the desert. 94f degrees at 7:31am heading to 113! The humidity right now is 27% but it’s still hot and the wind is only 4mph. It’s not comfortable to me

We are going to cut this visit real short! My brother and me will meet his attorneys for a scheduled 3 hours and Terry will look for flights home while I’m at the attorneys office. The brother and girlfriend are heading home to Maui Friday now! He is finding the heat more of a hinderance since his heart surgeries. That was one of the reasons he sold his place in Vegas. He is renting this place in Scottsdale as they need a place to stay for her medical when she comes back and now his! He really loves the desert and until now the heat never bothered him as he actually enjoyed it. He looks good and has dropped 40# since 1/1/2025 he says 179 this morning with a goal of 175. They actually are cooking at home instead of out almost all the time. The real shock to me though his his lack of desire to play golf. This is a guy who’d play daily and had for years till this past February

Gas prices in LA County ranged in the 8 days we were there from $5.79 to $6.59 per gallon of regular. Here in Scottsdale I saw mostly $3.39 passing a bunch of stations yesterday. Checking via Gas Buddy at home is $3.55.

The brother has been up a couple hours doing his daily stock chasing waiting for the market to open. Our meeting is at 10 and neither Terry or the G/f are awake at 7:40

Enjoy the day, stay cool

Morning All! 73 in the Brew City this morning, going to 88 with a chance of rain this evening. Painting again this week, an SP Automat car for a friend. one of my cats had to have surgery, her third time under the knife poor thing. Teeth first (she lost a few, common in older cats) then cancer which cost her a front leg, and yesterday, cancer in a mammary gland. She came through fine, but she is now understandably paranoid about being handled and especially being put the pet carrier. I hope we've got it licked this time, as the vet bills are stacking up. Her tab is rapidly approaching Rolex territory! Remember "That 70's Show" and Red Foreman's perpetual lament "I could have had a Corvette!" 🤣
"I could have had a Corvette!"

You can have my 2012 base Corvette with only 50,025 miles for $26,000. Excellent condition.
I am selling it because my son will inherit the car. He just wrecked his anniversary model Z28 Camaro. He has wrecked every car he has owned or destroyed the engine due to lack of maintenance. So if I leave him my Vette, I'm sure he will wreck it in grand fashion or won't be able to afford the repairs, much like the 1970 model Dodge Super Bee that he bought several years ago, drove for about 6 months and has been parked under a car port for 2 and a half years (needing a fuel pump) because he has no skills at working on cars. I love my son and he possesses a lot of fine qualities and talents, but driving and car repair are not his strong suits.

Good day to all...........John

Wow, two bolts, the pump, a line and a hose is all it needs, and it just sits?

Good Almost Noon All!
66F @ 51%. Hit 93F yesterday, tall 80's today; had boomers with a sprinkling about an hour ago.

We picked up 10 sheets of OSB, 40 2x4x8 ( regular ), 8 2x6x8 PT, 8 pier blocks 10 gallons of paint: 5 primer, 5 top coat plus a few odds and ends. Could barely see out the back of the Expedition - then we went to CostCo and Super1. Got home beat so we only emptied the food stuff to wait for today to unload. Ya, well, guess we are not ready yet as stuff is still in the Exped. It's ok, it is helping gravity keep it in the driveway.

July was my last MR and I got around to thumbing it last night. I have gotten 5 or 6 'time to renew' post cards since June. Think they wonder what's up? Been a subscriber for over 25 years this time, sporadic before that and do have all issues since inception. As I was thumbing, kinda thought I would miss that latest and greatest issue - but came to my senses. How long do you think it would take to thumb through the issues since '34? Might give RMC a run again for a year or so to see if I like it better; been 20 years since the last.

While I love them, they don't love me.
The wonderful lady that raised me "I love onions, but they don't like me"
102f degrees feeling like 113. I don’t care if you says it’s a dry heat or not,it’s hot.
Even with high humidity our feels like temperatures seldom reach that high. Stay hydrated and try to stay cool.
I hope we've got it licked this time, as the vet bills are stacking up.
I hope so too and God bless you for taking such good care of her. I'm sure you would agree she is worth more than any Rolex or Corvette.

I agree 100%
all it needs,
When is it ever "all it needs"? Old classic cars are like boats - a bottom less hole you keep throwing money into. But they are fun when they run.

My latest surgery was a success this morning. Now I wait and see if it solves the problems.

It hurts just as much as it looks like it would.

@kbkchooch Things like this always remind me of what your dad said, "getting old aint for sissys" He was a wise man.

Interesting because July was my last issue as well. Subscriber since '93 and a monthly purchaser since some time in the 70's. Yes, I have all of my issues as well, but time for "thumbin' through" always seems to elude me. I just decided that there just wasn't enough in each issue to interest me any more. Although the last few issues have been more interesting than most in the last five years.
