Good morning all!

A bit warmer today than yesterday. Currently its 67F and the high is supposed to be around 86F. I see the humidity levels are starting to
climb some. Overall still a pretty typical summer day.

Have a few things to get done around the house today. Tonight we have a volleyball league that's starting for my daughters high school
team. We have 7 of these throughout the month of July. None of them are here at our school, so that's a bummer!

Time to haul the garbage/recycle bins to the curb as I forgot that last night.

Have a safe day everyone!

Be careful doing that, please. I've seen some videos that had some high risks being taken

I know law enforcement is strict on US 22/322 on the East side of the river, plan to mind your Ps and Qs, driving-wise, so you don't get a safe driving award there.
Looks like it’s only going as far as Enola today. I’ll chase it to Lewistown, Pa tomorrow. I can avoid 322/22.

Good Morning All. Clear and 73°, might get up to 98° later on. Maybe triple-digits tomorrow through Friday if the weather geeks are to be believed. Some rare years, we don't achieve that milestone at all, some like 2011, we made it on 71 days!

Hapless Birthday Troy.

Yesterday, I made it to and from the salvage yard with my scrap metal without getting any flat tires. Another load in a few more weeks as I get more of it uncovered from the collapsed barn. I got the usual handful of $2 bills that they like to distribute, along with some $20's. Paid for the gas and then some. I don't need the money, it's nice, but I am a long time recycler. Many of the aluminum cans I pick up from the side of the road when I go walking in an effort to keep the neighborhood clean. The usual scavengers don't really make it out here.

Nothing specific on today's agenda, but there's no shortage of odd jobs to pick from.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to do the quarterly clean up project by inspecting and cleaning about half of the industry spurs that I mentioned yesterday. But that got boring so I added the parking lot stripes to the micro-brewery and baking company lots from last months not quite finished project.

And because I sat at the workbench occasionally, I looked at a minor project over there. I still had the 86' boxcars from ScaleTrains close by, and this UP car looked naked.

Out came the Blair Line graffiti decals and it now has the traditional UP after-market look. In my modeling area and era, UP cars were the earliest and most heavily tagged cars around. I only do light tagging.

One side only since I normally don't turn them around once they are on the layout; and they're only visible from the same side. Got to do some weathering now!

As Troy pointed out earlier today, today is ex-Beatle Ringo Starr's 86th birthday. We should all strive to be that active when we reach that age. Maybe being married to Barbara Bach for 46 years helps.

Everybody have a terrific Tuesday.

good-morning-dogs-smiley-emoticon.gif Been gone for a few days visiting my son and his family in Helena. Enjoyed the grandkids but my little granddaughter is petrified when fireworks started. Poor kid. Their home was only a couple of hundred yards from where the fireworks were being set off.

Left at daylight on Monday morning and I had no sooner got home when the mail lady stopped by with some items I had ordered for the module. The rail joiners and a $4 left hand turnout came in. Materials for making trees and a couple of structures also came in.
1000003589.jpg Had to be a bit selective with the buildings as there isn't a lot of room to work with. Now I can lay the track down. I keep forgetting that I don't have many of the items I need because they were either given away, are lost somewhere among boxes that haven't been opened or just lost.

A package came in from PINKFLOYD also. I am swapping some of my vehicles for some railroad supplies that I need and he no longer needs. Got some nice ground cover from him.

NYC George - You did manage to sell some things. Good to get out of the sun. Not good for you. I have to take my girls to the dog park early because there's no shade and I can get hot there.

John - I was,,and still am a complete novice when it comes to DCC. My layout was always DC and being that there were no other operators in the area where I used to live, I saw no need to change. I had over 30 Locomotives that would need decoders and I guess I was just lazy. Everything worked just fine so if it ain't broke, it didn't need fixin". I did have to learn how to use DCC at my club in Livingston. Learned enough to get by, such as programming a locomotive and how to use the hand set.

Willie - Always enjoy your layout photos.

Have to get some chores done and take the girls out so I'll post a few photos from the archive.

This is the old Metals Bank in Butte. It now houses offices and a restaurant on the lower level. This is the only photo I took. It is the old vault from the bank. It is in the dining room of the restaurant. Excellent food, bit the weather was crappy so I had to use some stock photos of the outside.

Got this photo going in before the weather turned. Butte probably has one of the best collections of the old brick buildings. Sort of a DPM proving grounds.

The dogs want out. Gotta go.

Good morning from the left coast heading today deep into the Arizona desert. In Scottsdale this afternoon it will be around 112f. This afternoon at noon when we fly out of Burbank, Ca it will only be 90. Home in Wisconsin at noon it will be 86!

Happy birthday Troy

Just relaxing this morning until our ride comes at 10:15

Have a great day

Good morning folks. 81°F/73°F here this morning. No relief in sight for the dewpoint. Seems that summer is here to stay for the full 10 more weeks.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag Troy!

Nothing going on here today. I just came in from outside to touch up the sidewalk trim from yesterday's cut. The grass was still wet when cut yesterday afternoon and some of it sprung back up after being stuck to itself where the mower and trimmer missed it.

The sun is brutal today and I could feel it starting to burn the top of my head under a full head of hair. I might attempt sitting outside for 30 minutes or so after lunch with Willow so she can get some exercise, but I don't know if we will even last 30 minutes.

Might run trains after lunch too. At least on the layout I can imagine it's early autumn.

Have a great day. Servus!

Good morning folks and happy Birthday Troy!
80 here already, we had a slight cool off yesterday afternoon, before a light rain. Today's plans were:
1. Get with our Insurance provider to make sure we have everything in place for my transfer to Medicare in September.
2. Drink coffee.
3. Take Lady C to the Dentist this afternoon.
4. Go to Hobby Lobby and Harbor Freight.
5. Take Lady C to dinner after the Dentist.
#s 1 & 2 are both done [still drinking coffee].
Got my cobblestone road glued down on one of the modules, and now will use that location to mark out the gravel road on the adjacent module, or perhaps make it a chipped road...
You guys have a great day.

Good morning, all! The usual hot and humid morning here in Houston. While the temps are in the low 90's, the humidity is in the high 70's to low 80's driving a heat index of 102 currently and rising to 108 later in the day.
I did run some trains yesterday. A coal drag, a chemical special, a general freight and a switcher moving flat cars with heavy equipment. It takes a little time to get 4 trains going at the same time, but once I get them spaced right and speed adjusted, rail fanning is fun.

Happy Birthday Troy

STAY SAFE
LATER

Good afternoon. It’s thunderstorming and 90.
I spoke to Piko Amerika about the 65 ton decoder issue, and they seem to think if I send it to them, they can reload and restore it. If they can, it will be $25 plus $12.50 postage. If not, they have a slightly used decoder for $100 plus $12.50 postage.
I’m not sure I want to pay a hundred bucks for a used decoder that may do the same thing as the one I have now. I’ll send my old one, see if they can fix it, and go from there.
