You might want to contact the guy that runs SBS4DCC. I can't remember his name but I have talked with him before. He carries ESU and ZIMO and is very knowledgeable on all things DCC. I know he has some sound files that are his own wav-files and does some custom sound downloads. He might have a line on the Whitcomb sound file.

If it’s a zimo or ESU the SBS4DCC guy may be able to download the sound files off the bad decoder and put it on a new one?

Sound files on ESU are not downloadable off of the DCC decoder. Only the data.

Tomorrow is the Train Shack in Burbank after noon time then before 5 another trip to the Original Whistle Stop in Pasadena as a couple more of the operating group I belong to ordered more books. Back Pack going home will be full,

it's Troy again. On my last day of being 61.

Had to make a bathroom run at 2am... been awake ever since.

Brain kicked in with to-do items for the Canadian attorney consult. I'm the type that has to over prepare and send them a metric shite-ton of details. This morning was getting that all into a word doc.

Later, I'll organize my DropBox folder better. Tomorrow I'll exercise the Mark Twain process and whittle the 11 page prep doc summary down by a few pages. ("I would have written you a shorter letter, but I ran out of time..." ~Mark Twain)

Sweetie wanted to go hit the Pope-Yes place for chicken tenders and biscuits yesterday. So we did.

TOM O: If you get anywhere close to Culver City (off The 10) in the downtown section near Sony Studios is a chicken place called "Honey's Kettle" VERY good place. It's crowded most weekends. They keep warm honey in one of those restaurant pump tubs (for dispensing condiments) right at the counter. You gotta put the honey on the biscuits and dip the chicken in it. MMMMMMM.

Good day everyone. 70°F/70°F here. We had storms just after dark and racked up another half inch of rain last night. No left over fireworks heard due to the great timing of the rain.

Grass has to be cut today, so I'm going to see how wet it is around 1000 when I usually get out there, and have it done by noon. Laundry today too, and groceries will be arriving around 1200. Same time I'm making lunch.

You all have a great Monday. I hope it's cooler where you are than it has been the last 10 days.

Good Morning All. Mostly clear, but a bit foggy and 72°, might reach 96° today. The rain and ensuing cloudy afternoon yesterday, kept it at only 92° for the high. The rain didn't amount to very much, just 0.25" in 2 short bursts combined. However it did keep the dust down when they plowed the wheat field across the road to the south later in the evening.

Heading out this morning to the salvage yard with aluminum scrap and a pair of window air conditioners that I finally rescued from the remains of my tornado-ravished barn. They've been buried in the rubble out there for two years as I have been slowly dismantling it. Didn't do much else after church yesterday besides loading the car up and the bed linen laundry.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to run some more trains. I think that I have switched out most of my 70+ industries in the last few days. I also started (close to on time) my next quarterly layout cleaning project, this time with "section 3" of the lower level. Did my usual visual track ROW inspection for any stray dislodged train parts and found none. I ran my "Tidy-Track" cleaning pads over the main line and the one passing siding; not really needed but part of the routine. This section has 13 industries with 18 spurs/sidings in it, and the next few days will be more tedious. A couple of those spurs run behind structures and are harder to see. Overall it should actually be a bit easier since it is the first repeat section since the devastating train shed roof removal during the May '24 tornado.

Joe - Maybe I missed it along the way, but do you already have a new place ready to move into?

MIA's - Haven't seen Patrick in a couple of weeks. Hope that all is still well.

Today is former Texas governor, Texas Rangers owner and President; George W. Bush's 80th birthday. He lives nearby (by Texas standards) in a highfalutin Dallas neighborhood.

74° under mostly cloudy skies, pop up storms pretty much all day with a high of 85°. Much nicer than Saturday's 102°.

Not much happening here other than the usual. I did play with some fascia boards over the weekend and started the wiring for the 2nd lift bridge. Got the relay box mounted after some trying various mounting schemes.

Also played with a ornery NCE DASR decoder. I had a Stewart F-unit pick a switch and shorted the layout. After putting all 8 wheels back on the track it would turn the light on and off, but not move. I placed it on my DC test track and it ran. I thought it was just being goofy. Back on DCC still no change. Programming track can read everything. OK I thought, lets try a decoder reset. Still no joy. Phooey I thought, and I put it on my bench for later decoder replacement. That was 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I put it on the programming track , just for and giggles, did a reset and placed it on the layout. Now it runs fine!
Weird!

Happy pre-birthday Troy! Since your are now Canadian, instead of a cake should we just get you a candle in a Tim Horton's doughnut?

A nice day in store. Currently its a sunny 71F and the high is supposed to be around 82F. Humidity levels came down yesterday so a
pretty decent looking week weather wise.

Have my laundry started and as soon as it dries out I will get out and mow. Not much else planned for the day.

Terry that’s interesting a LHS owner actually owns 2 places. I will visit both next time here. Today it’s the train Shack and The Original Whistle Stop. My LA firefighter and one of my top 3 weathering clients since Covid is meeting me at the Train Shack and we will have lunch and I will give him a suit case of prefabricated parts for the Enginehouse he wanted built for him. One of the strangest builds I’ve done but he says he’s helpless and except for gluing 6 joints it should be easy. The base framework I discussed with his dad months ago and the pictures I have seen it looks pretty good. Next up for him is a transfere table we are going to look at while at the Train Shack

Good morning from our last full day in Pasadena. High clear 80’s this afternoon

We head to Scottsdale tomorrow to meet up with my brother at his place for a week. The plan was to us to head to San Diego for 3 nights but my brother set up a meeting with his attorney for his estate plan changes. I am the executor

Balboa Park and the train museum will need to wait since the little brother basically changed our plans. I will get there but will fly in instead of driving down. I have no real desire or need to drive the Interstate highway system here.

Found out why the condo we purchased was going on the market. The women who owns it her son who lives there is being deported back to China. Domestic abuse charges and she decided to return with him. Fortunate timing for us

I guess I'll have to cut this afternoon. Still wet at 1100. It's mostly just the fescue now though. The rest of the yard is slightly wet, but I don't think enough to clog up the mower.

At least the laundry is almost dry. The Talking Heads said the dewpoint was coming down today. BS. Still 70°F out there and is why my grass isn't drying. Idiots. They need to get their Magic 8-Ball in for servicing.
