They have the ASE certified hanging on the wall? That means that the one guy who got the certification wasn't there.
Small offroad shop I've used for years. Owner is a person I've wheeled with several times in the past 20 or so years. I use him for the stuff I don't want to do without a hoist/lift like removing the differential to change the inner seals. He admitted that he screwed up and didn't notice that the witness marks of the anti-seize were out of place.

Standup guy to admit and make amends on it.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, It's troy again.

Since Sweetie told me about her "Canadian" ancestor I've been spending my day trying to track down leads to find the great-great-great grandmother in annals of Quebec lore. I finally gave up, and started tracing her through her children, and there isn't much. Two census documents peg her as born in either "Canada" or "Canada: French" by way of tracking the head of household's parent's country of origin... there is one on Sweetie's great great grandfather (son of the woman in question) that says the G3 Gramma is from OHIO!... I suspect the daughter or wife answered the census taker's questions and didn't have the correct answers. This was late 1800s and early 1900s.

Tomorrow, I'll take some of the census records for the other children they had. But G3 Gramma died young with 5 or 6 children, the G3Grandpa remarried, so I have to be careful to get the correct child+mom combo.

In other news, Sweetie has an old family tale about two brothers of G2 Granpa who went to fight in the civil war. One on Union, on in the confederate army. Problem #1 there are about 300 entries in Confederate rolls for someone of his name. And they don't do much tracking of where the person was born, or parents. So which one is it? If it is at all? To be fair, the ancestry sites list him as a big unknown with no death date. MIA? KIA? who knows... or did he even fight at all.

His brother probably did for the Union. Unsupported claims say he
mustered out in 1862 with Co. E, 125th Regt., Illinois Vol. Inf. and in 1864 was wounded and sent to the Invalid Corps.
It's included as stories on the sites, but no supporting documents. When I have time, I'll try to look it up.

Another interesting story was that the Confederate brother supposedly deserted before he disapeared. HOWEVER... Union Brother with the name Alex has the same first name as the G3 grandpa. AND another person with the same name as G3 and son, born about the same time as G3 Grandpa, did indeed join the peactime Union army - in 1833ish. And is listed as deserting three months later.

G3 Grandpa was supposedly born in New York.
Deserter with same name was born in Ireland according to the regiment's roster.

I can see where the stories get mixed together - because that Union Army Roster from 1833 is tagged to G3 grandpa who wasn't born in Ireland.

In other news, I got mail today - Or, rather, UPS boxes.

My book from the game company arrived. The title is "Fracture"... it arrived in one piece... not fractured, but very bent.

Fortunately, the other box didn't go through the same hellhole. It's contents were fine, eh?

Had to celebrate my Canadian Heritage with an additional purchase!

Good day to all............

5:15 pm Texas time and site is still acting up.

I went to Wichita a Falls Tx yesterday. Gas there was $3.01 per gal........gas in my nearby town is $3.69 !
I filled up in W.F. and purchased a little over 20 gals saving almost $14.00 over prices at home. Almost makes it worth while for me to drive to W. F. just to buy gas if I'm gonna fill-er-up.
Groceries there are cheaper as there is Sams, Wal-Mart, Aldi and a new Winco.
My local grocery store, United, is high I guess because it is the only store within about a 35 mile radius and they know it. Lately they have been running out or never have in stock, the items they show in their sale paper. This bad habit just started a couple of months ago. I started getting "rain checks" for some sale items but the problem is they won't have these items in stock for a couple of weeks or longer or until the next time they show to be "on sale".
Rant over.......

Yesterday morning, I went to my appointment at the county court house to meet with the appraisal district board to gripe about and lower my property taxes. I had an increase last year and they want another for the next two years. The time I spent at the meeting was wasted as they said I needed to take my gripes to the County Commissioners Court meeting as they set the property valuation and are responsible for county services of which we receive "none" where I'm located in the county. Seems the appraisal district takes the home/property value (set by the commissioners court) and applies whatever fees and discounts to determine the final amount due, then sends out the bills. So, I gotta be back at the county court house at 9:30 am on July 13, for a meeting with the county commissioners court to present my case to them. What a crock ! Seems these two offices could be combined into one office and save tax payers money, but no.
Population of my county is about 3,150 folks, was 3,250 a year ago and 2020 census recorded around 3,353. Folks are leaving and selling their land to others or relatives. So less tax payers means the ones left have to ante up more bucks to support the current staff of county employees. And we are getting less services. I plan to give them an ear full ( with 8 x 10 color photos ) on the 13th.
Rant over..........

Hope to get some work done on the layout this evening and get my mind off of those entities trying to make life more miserable.

Take care....John

Good evening folks, it's 6:39PM and still 92 degrees. Heard a fellow say he stepped outside and ran into Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego. I believe him.
Took the trash out to the road and wow, it's just unpleasant.
Tomorrow is cleaning as we are having a Birthday Party Saturday here for our G'niece Emma, she's turning 18 and is gonna head to college in August in Jonesboro to become a Nurse.

Nephew called me and told me he's coming by about 0730 so we can get out on the range before it turns into lava.

Taking a trio of .45ACPs including my newer Springfield Garrison Commander, HK USP45 Expert, and the SIG-Sauer P220. The new 9mm Walther PDP is going too so I can check the zero on the Holosun green dot sight.

We're stopping by for water on the way out. Shooting and flying are the only two things that will get me out into the heat.

Good morning. It's clear and 76.
I heard from Bob. He told me the server is outdated, and, while he updated it earlier (yesterday), it will need more work. It will probably be sometime in the fall before that happens.
Bob definitely needs to upgrade to the servers with the new hamsters running in the squirrel cages.

I think the old single-hamster server was developing asthma after a lifetime of chain smoking and loose female hamster chasing.
