Dollar for dollar the McDonalds Quarter Pounder is the best hamburger my money can buy. Burger King's Whopper is a close second. Just my opinion of course.

No amount of money can buy a better burger than my wife's homemade burgers. My grandson agrees with me on this one, "Nagyi, this is the best hamburger ever!"

Nagyi is a Hungarian term of endearment for grandmother.
I haven't had fast food in decades, but I do remember the old A&W when they cooked burgers on charcoal broilers.😋

Temp was 75F at 7:00 am and 79 at 8:00 am when I started mowing grass.
About two weeks ago, I lost the pully tensioning spring on the mower deck of the lawn tractor.

A new spring arrived at the mower shop Friday and took 15 minutes to install. ( Plus 6 minutes for me to get up off the ground. )
Being almost 80 and a lazy fat man, I waited for cooler Sat. morn to mow the grass. Got 3/4 done and ran out of gas. Getting hotter, but I drug out the self-propelled trim mower. It ran out of gas after 10 minutes and I was useless by then.

Got gas after church on Sunday at noon, but the heat index was over 100.

I gassed up the trim mower this morning as there is only about 1000 square feet to finish mowing. Mower started on the second pull and did well in the high, wet grass for about a minute. After about 10 pulls on the starter rope, I was muttering about the mower's parentage.
THEN, I realized the gas line was turned off. Turned the gas line on and apologized to the mower when it started on the second pull again.

The grass around the back stairs was last cut about 6 weeks ago, so it was about 10 inches high, thick and wet from overnight dew. The mower kept choking on the heavy grass and took 15 minutes to cut with the trim mower. Soaked in sweat, I staggered back to the basement garage and put the mower up. As I passed thru the train room, I decided to sit down and organize some of the items on my work desk for the next 30 minutes. I finally made it upstairs for a glass of ice water.

Gentlemen and ladies, my advise to you is don't get old; don't get fat and don't try to work in 100 degree heat.
And stay hydrated!

Have you seen any of the retailers, that have the newly released JTC Amazon Prime containers?
JTC says sold out now, too, and I would have bought a bunch of those instantly. I really don't get why the manufacturers do this; aren't they leaving money on the table by not making enough to meet demand?

I'll have to keep my eyes open. For the concept I have in my head for my layout, Amazon Prime containers would be perfect!

Good morning folks, 88 here already heading for 100 without the Heat Index! Gotta run to a printer in a bit for some ribbons, hopefully they can do it as I prefer to use local businesses when I can. Just too hot to even finish my usual pot of coffee today, gonna let it cool off and have it as iced coffee later. Won a low, lowball bid on a brass 2-6-0 on fleabay last night. I gotta quit doing that.

That was before the Vegetarians sued them to make them stop.
According to Microsoft's AI:

McDonald’s original French fry oil was a custom blend from Interstate Foods—about 93% rendered beef tallow and 7% partially hydrogenated vegetable oil—which gave those early fries their signature flavor and crispiness.

A bad combination for cholesterol, but oh so good!

I was able to snag 12 when Scaletrains ran them last year and I'm kicking myself for not doubling that order when they were available for a reasonable price. I have heard (don't know if its true) but Scaletrains says they probably wont run them again as licensing was difficult.

I'm willing to pay more than usual for them but not the $70.00 a 3-pack they are being listed for at the 2 only places that have them listed.

Kind of hard to build a modern intermodal train without them sadly.

Maybe Athearn or Walthers will do them in the future.

I see they are in stock at JTC and the only vendor that has had them listed is Hiawatha Hobbies, but they are at full MSRP of $70.00
for a 3 pack.

I have sent 2 messages to Lombard Hobbies in the last week to see if they were going to get any in, but sadly they haven't responded
to either of the 2 messages sent.

I would love to add another 12 or so to add to the Scaletrains I bought last year, but not at $70.00.
Yes I saw them. I generally don’t comment on pricing as what is expensive to someone may not be to another

But $70 for containers is not good no matter if one can afford it or not

I’m surprised Lombard has not gotten back to you

I stop at Hiawatha at least 1 time per month. Lots less discounting now that the tariffs are in effect

I sold last Friday 54 Walthers Scenemaster brand containers 40’ for $7 and 45’ for $8 and still made money. 4 differed buyers. 1 looker asked if I’d 2 for ) $10. I said no

Was it only 2024!

I purchased 48 of the Amazon containers from Scaletrain direct. Kept 12 and sold the rest. When the offers went over $100 per pack it was time to sell the he rest. Amazon then sold the container business to JB Hunt Intermodal

I’ve heard a few things about why Scaletrains is not making another run but they r all rumors. I won’t post the rumors. I will ask whoever shows up (normally Shane) from Scaletrains in LaCrosse Wi on the 29th . They do a tour every Summer and I plan to go. That run of containers for JbHunt, Amazon Prime and Walmart.com was a good one but they seriously under estimated how many would sell.

Why didn’t they stock more? Inventory costs money and ST philosophy is just to run 10% over the pre-orders. They have a few videos on their website that explain the pre-ordering

Some won’t agree bit IMO Scaletrains is the best run model train company

I can understand being temporarily out of stock; what bugs me is that a lot of the common stuff seems to effectively be "limited edition". Once the initial run is over, good luck ever finding it again for any kind of reasonable price.
Seems all the manufacturers are going to this model of limited runs. we pre-order and wait sometimes years for a model or try to snag it upon release. Which is where I'm at with these containers.

I loved the Exactrail (before Scaletrains purchased them) and Tangent business model of here they are come and get them. they seemed to stick around somewhat longer that way IMO.

I'm guessing your wife reads this, because you have barely saved it🤣
