Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who can't stand the odor of frying liver

It's Troy again...

Here's the current weather in NE Indiana:

I knew I needed to get up and moving today, so I hit Menards and bought four bags of brown mulch, as well as some concrete stepping stones to keep a path to the hose spicket.

It was hot AND muggy crap this morning. Like Florida Humidity levels. So when I got home, I changed into grubby work-outside clothes. Glad I did. Ended up with a second shower. Not from dirt. From the fop-sweat that working in the sun at that humidity level did to me.

After the shower, I ended calling our mail-order pharmacy. I've been having canceled orders when I try to get a refill on a critical little blue pill. 😜

Chatting over text with them, they said to call on July 4, since that was the 3mos refill date. Normally I can order a few weeks before, so there is overlap. Doc prescribes exactly the number needed, so I've had to skip a few times. Birthday is this week, and wedding anniversary 11 days after that. Gotta make sure I have enough.

So, today I called in. Got a nice young woman somewhere in the Asia-Pacific region based on her accent. At least it wasn't an AI "personality"

Seems the wires got crossed somewhere. That prescription was set to provide a 150 day supply, instead of a 90 day supply... and the insurance company won't authorize for more than a 90 day...

So, I got them to put in an order for a 90 day. The nice girl said they'd request clarification from the doc. So I messaged the Doc, and the nurse responded that their records show a 90 day script sent in. Seems like a gremlin was hitting the little blue pills and banged a few too many keys and reset the days on my order. Dumb Gremlins!

Oh well, wife will be happy now.

Since the book is off to the editor, and won't be back for two weeks, I've been working on my blurb for the bookstore sites. Take a look, and if you have any better music puns, let me know. I might just work them in!

Death strikes a sharp chord in Eerie Falls!

A Sasquatch on bass, and a pixie on vocals. What's not to love about the new band at Darcy's pub? But when one of the band members bangs out their last solo ever, will the group be flat? Did a band member have an axe to grind? Sammi and her mates have their hands full trying to uncover who wrote that requiem.

When Courtney's old college roommate arrives to conduct anything but a friendly investigation into the town of Eerie Falls, jarring notes might be on the page for the constable. If things go off-beat, Sammi could end up solo.

The mystery's rhythm changes when a robbery occurs, one that could out-crescendo the 1812 overture's finale.

In order to bring the curtain down on this tale, Sammi and her friends need to follow the green glow of faerocks and find the right tempo. Gord's ghostly bites may not be enough to energize the solution, but does he have what it takes to help the band? Will Sammi and her friends hit the right notes, and avoid a cacophony?

Swal - OK, I talked to my wife, the retired H&R Blockhead. She had never had to deal with New York state rules, and some stuff might have changed since she retired. She said that taxes are inevitable on any capital gains on any stocks that you sell, regardless of the reason. Also that the two year rule that you posted about last month is also set in stone when it comes to Medicare/Medicaid valuing her assets. Her best advice is to bite the bullet and pay a trust advisor or estate advisor for a consultation regarding setting up a trust for all of your shared assets. It may still count against the two year rule in your state, which is going to be hard to get around in any situation. She also advised that a certified home health nurse might be less expensive than a nursing home. It is less expensive in our area of Texas, and is subject to less unnecessary regulation. Then you might not have to sell the house which would also add to the assets.
Good luck.

Rockets Red Glare. Tonight is round two of Fireworks Frenzy, around the neighborhood. The cat is hiding somewhere under a section of model railroad. The sound is more like small arms fire, and mortars, except that no one has called in an air strike...yet. Well it is a tradition.

Tomorrow everyone not employed by a school, goes back to work, and those lucky folks will head for the pool or the beach.
We will head to the drug store for our pricey medication refills, and the wholesale club for a list of groceries. I hope to start walking tomorrow morning, if I manage to get out of bed early enough.

Goal # 2 is to spend time in the train room...two one hour sessions, 1 working on scenery, 1 on projects and structures. I managed one hour today.

Incidents like what has occurred in Baltimore City, will continue until the community itself puts an end to it. Until that point is reached it will continue. Hand wringing, and blaming inanimate objects and other sources will not solve the problem.

Boris I loved switching with these engines. Very easy to see everything around you. Unfortunately I did most of my yard switching with a RS3 and sometimes taking a guess where everyone on the ground was located.

Thanks Wille. The 2 year rule was about the Star Program (over 65) property tax discount. After selling off half our stock assets today I'll be paying the full taxes on the house in 2 years for 1 year only. I had to sell each stock separately and the adviser had to read me all the laws each time pertaining to the sale. 47 stocks took about 45 minutes to get done. I had always let the Wells Fargo adviser handle what we bought and sold but from now on I'll take a more active role. As far as transferring money between separate accounts whether it be in one of our names or both our lawyer says there's no waiting time between spouses. She says the waiting times has to do with children and other relatives.

Thanks Boris don't worry a little skid is all this is. When they lost four straight games, they had run into some superior pitching. They just got by 2-1 to end the streak. They've played the Yankees tough so far. I have to give the Yankees credit; they have played better!
We will get them today!
Seriously Louis, the Yankees ain't that good, and Judge isn't playing... They got robbed the first game and didn't recover. Game 2, not even competitive. Hopefully, they can salvage tonight's game, and get over their disappointment. Hell, they played the Yankees better when they sucked as a team, and the Yankees were a contender...

Lots of laws against both guns and drugs. None of them are working very well.
About three weeks ago, a B&M Gun dealer was burglarized in a town in Pennsylvania about 15 miles SW of Trenton, NJ. They were observed and pursued by Police, resulting in a "chase'. They were caught after they collided with something, and the stolen weapons were recovered. The perpetrators willingly admitted their intent was to redistribute these weapons on the street in Trenton - which has similar problems as any other city . OK, how many different crimes did these fellows commit, before they had the opportunity to sell these weapons to street people who presumably would use the weapons to commit more crimes?
Our news media, apparently, was more concerned that the police officers from Pennsylvania chose to stay on the persuit, thus putting "innocent bystanders at risk"... (You can't make this stuff up). Apparently, the story died quickly, because I have not seen any follow up.

I don't own guns, do not belong to the NRA, and live in a relatively "quiet" far out suburb of NYC. I miss a lot of what goes on.
But gun control laws legislate against inanimate objects. Gun control laws are more frequently used against collectors, and suburban / rural gun owners that tend to comply with all the regulations imposed by gun laws. NYC has some of the most stringent gun control laws, some of which have been in effect since before the Civil war. These gun laws mean nothing to current gang bangers, nor did they mean anything to mafiosos of the Prohibition era. They mean nothing to private security employed by celebrities etc. ; etc. ; etc. They only apply to private, generally law abiding individuals that care about the rule of law.

Gun control does not, never did, and never will save lives. It's at best unenforcable feel good legislation that can be invoked after a gun crime is committed. As I said before, when the mothers, and sisters and other relatives of these young people tire of the shootings, deaths, and intimidation, then the folks in the community will put a stop to the carnage. Law enforcement won't do it, they don't live there, just work there.

No doubt the Orioles bats have gone cold these last seven games. Despite that the birds were tied with the Yanks in the top of the eighth in the first game. They only trailed by one until the bottom of the seventh in the last game.

The Yankees are not their best without the Judge, they still have a stacked team. The Judge's $40 million salary is only 14% of the Yankees payroll, it's more than half of the Orioles total payroll.

Every team goes through slumps. The 1983 World Champion Orioles suffered through a nine-game losing streak.

The 1927 Yankees had a four game losing steak!

Afternoon All,

Started out today to see our windows covered in condensation. (no rain). After breakfast I built 2 plant beds for my wife out of 4x4's. Of course, digging, cutting roots, and pulling grass and weeds. Needless to say, I was done by the time I finished. I came inside and drank 40 oz of water and still didn't need to pee. And this was after I took a break and drank water between the 2 planters. The heat index was 101F. After getting cleaned up I drove MOH to the bread store and Aldi.

Has anyone talked to Phil lately? I've been trying and he's not returning any phone calls. A mutual friend says his wife isn't answering either.

Thank you for the photo and video likes yesterday.

Louis- What you heard on NPR is so true, especially if you outlive family and friends.

TomO- I have found that family is give and take.

Joe- I usually get the recommended vaccines and usually no side effects. After the first Shingrex shot (May) my arm hurt for a week, and I was fatigued for a couple of days. I get the second one the end of July.

Chad- I always get the flu shot. I guess it's force of habit (and MOH pushing for it). In the military we had to get it, like we were required to be fully immunized and have 2 dental exams every year.

Guy- Nice photos. I would assume (you know what that means) that it is intended to be seen at a distance, but you're right about it.

Willie- Nice scene. All you probably need is more trees and bushes.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Gun control laws would work, if we ever could find law abiding criminals,
