This evening's update from the Times contained a piece from the CDC, recommending that everyone over sixty get the Flu Shot, the RSV shot and the Covid 19 shot this fall.

As of the bottom of the seventh, with one on, two out, it's the O's 4, Yankees 2... Stay tuned...

As if shark attacks at Atlantic Ocean Resorts weren't raising alarms, now Gators in South Carolina are attacking elderly women walking their dogs... What's this world coming to?

Scenicruiser? Have one in HO, myself.

Can't get over how quiet it is tonight...BJ's still had plenty of fireworks assortments @ $40 per package.

Curt: Hope Phil and his wife are OK.

Gun control laws would work, if we ever could find law abiding criminals

Karl: Can't stop laughing...So true.

According to local media, former New York Mayor, Bill DiBlasio and his wife Chirlane McCRay are breaking up after 29 years together. He believed criminals were law abiding, just misunderstood.

Bottom of the 8th, 2 out, 1 on now 4-3 O's...I miss Hockey...

They're interesting. Made by Alstom and inspired by the Italian new Pendolino trainsets but really based on Alstom AGV trains (French trains made for TGV network).

Everything gets funky looking when adapted to the US market.

Coffee FLO... and I'll sit over here by the air filter. The one that cuts out the smell of Mel cooking liver and onions for the folks with weird taste buds...

For some reason, I woke up about 4 am with the start of an asthma attack. No idea why. Our AQI was 60 or less yesterday. I spent the later half of the day inside.

So, I got up, hit the inhaler, and tried to sleep in the recliner. Dozed a little, but not much. Got up at 5 am, hit the inhaler again, then made coffee and ate my non-liver flavored yogurt and bacon.

I need to cut some holes in the new garage walls and put some air vents in. More on that if it happens today. We've got chance of rain, so high humidity, but mild temps today.

Forgot to post a pic of the garden out in front of our unit.

need to get a pretty hose pot to keep the hose in... and a new hose. Those expando ones don't last a year. I even kept it in the basement over the winter. It's disintegrating on the inside and clogging the nozzle.

And another bag or two of mulch. You might spot the bare end on the left.

Good morning gang!

76° and sunny this morning,, heading to 89° with a chance of afternoon thunderboomers.

Got a nice surprise yesterday. I bid on a lot of Western Maryland covered hoppers by Bowser on fleabay. I won the auction and the seller was a local guy that I have purchased from before, and casually knew from attending the local train auctions. When he realized it was me he included and extra hopper kit in the box he sent me! Not only do I now have 4 kits to assemble instead of 3, but they are all individually numbered factory sealed kits! YAY!

In other news SWMBO rolled her ankle Tuesday morning, saw the DR yesterday,, Xrays are ordered for today. Suspected bone chip of hairline fracture of her ankle. She can support her weight, but the is very little range of motion without discomfort, and a strange red mark and some bruising in the area. of course, #4 son and I have been trying to get her to rest it, but it's a losing battle. She's kinda hard headed!

Today is National fried chicken day, also National kissing day. So kiss your fried chicken before you eat it!!

Good morning from a wet, yes WET!, So. Central WIsconsin. Over 3 hours yesterday we got a great steady rain that totaled 3/4”. Other then the less then 1/4” last week that’s the 1st real rain totals since early May.

I have the 11 year old granddaughter until Monday. The 9 year old grandson is staying with the son in law’s mom and step dad, but most of the time actually at his uncle’s with his cousins. She refused to take the granddaughter because she has issues with her being Down Syndrome. Blames our daughter for that! DS is not hereditary just a random spin of genetic imbalance. The daughter and hubby are in Nashville until Sunday. I get to go pickup the grandson on Sunday afternoon 1/2 between Milwaukee and Madison because his other grandmother didn’t want to drive all the way back here to drop him off. It’s truly no wonder my daughter among many other reasons can’t stand her mother in law.

No real plans as we will go with the flow today. High will be in the 70’s. We were planning to swim but the water maybe too cold. We are heading out for a donut run after 8

enjoy your day

Good morning. The morning fog is fading as the sun gets going. Predicted high temperature 87° with a light SE wind. Another round of sporadic T-Storms beginning Saturday, through Monday.

The O's pulled it out - good news.

Nice surprise, Karl. Four is better than three.

I am in the process of changing out freight cars and Cabins from circa 1966 to 1973, which means fewer steam era cars and more newer / larger cars. I'm really surprised how many Blue Box cars I have in storage, including some kits never assembled.

Today, we pick up the expensive prescription(s).

In-Laws...

I got really lucky, and loved both my FIL and MIL. My Brother-in-Law, on the other hand... He's a real piece of work. About 30 years ago, my FIL bought a small fixer upper of a house for him to live in, with the understanding that he would renovate it in lieu of paying rent.

Well, he never renovated it, in fact, it's been bare plywood floors for most of the time because they breed Yorkshire terriers and they all pee inside and all over the place. He couldn't even pay his own Real Estate taxes, and FIL had to keep paying those. About 6 years ago, both my in-laws passed on, and the house was formally given to him, along with a little over $100,000 in cash. All the cash is gone now, and guess who's paying his freaking RE taxes? Yep... my wife is paying his brother's RE taxes so he doesn't end up homeless.

MY FIL knew this was going to happen, and actually put the house in my wife's name before he passed. My wife went against her Father's wishes, and signed the house over to her brother AND and him his portion of the estate value, which was only about $200K. She did this because she didn't want to be on the hook for the taxes if he continued to ignore his financial responsibilities. And look where we are...

I begged my wife to put the $100,000 in a trust used only to pay the RE taxes... That would have paid 25 years of RE taxes even without the trust earning any income from teh $100,000. Actually, the income at just 3% would be enough to pay the annual RE taxes

Good Morning!

I'm still working on that electrical ghost problem at a friends house. It should be solved by days end today, and I do know exactly what happened to kill the power for certain receptacles. The plumber done it!
This is the last contracting job I'm ever going to do in my life, at least until some other old fella calls.

Since we are showing some wonderful gardens, here are some of my wife's garden. This is the stuff that gives my wife a hobby, and gives me some peace.
The pondless rock garden:

These are proof for Sherrel, that Hummingbirds really do come up this far north. Photos are from last year, though. Both are female Ruby Throated:

Troy - Your wife did a fine job revitalizing that patch of garden.
Karl - Glad you scored nicely on the bay. I can't buy on the bay, due to excessive shipping costs.
Sherrel - I've not been to a parade since I was a child. I suppose that's what people do to celebrate a holiday. And, you don't look old; you look distinguished. I'm the same way.
Louis - I've got one of those HO scenic cruisers, as well. So there must be millions out there.
Curt - Thankyou for the many kind comments you've given toward my simple-minded posts.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 74° here. Isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast, although they currently are all well north of here possibly soaking Patrick on his way to work. High today only expected to reach 90° after 98° yesterday, and 98° again for a few days into next week.

Busy day yesterday on the SFW estate. Spent the morning reassembling a shade umbrella over the pool that had blown over the day before during a thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon. After lunch I took an extra long nap since I didn't sleep well the night before. Then I canned tomatoes into plain sauce. I only did six quarts instead of the seven planned since one of the jars had a nick in the rim and couldn't be used. Fortunately I discovered it before preparing too many tomatoes.

Afterwards, I grilled some marinated chicken thighs that my wife bought at Trader Joe's Tuesday morning. They were OK, but probably over-priced. We happened to have Brussels Sprouts and Caprese Salad with the thighs.

Today is grocery trek Thursday as usual. Several side stops are needed this week, although most of them are within a half mile of the grocery store. I also need to empty the dishwasher which ran overnight. Sometime today or tomorrow, I need to locate some more quart size canning jars, since many of mine are still filled with last years various harvests.

No time was spent in the train shed yesterday, as the canning of the tomato sauce took longer than expected. I'm itching to get to the hobo camp, as it has been on the project list for a while, and I want to remember what I intend to do.

Swal - I don't intentionally have any Bud Light stock either, although it might be present in one of the ETF's that I own. I do have Lockheed-Martin which will go up as the weapons of war are replenished.
Sherrel - That plate of liver & onions looks great.
Hughie - Condolences on the loss of your BIL.
Tom O - That's strange that the generator was vandalized and not stolen outright.
Curt - Yes, trees and bushes are all that I intend to add, although a small amount of additional paper litter might make it as well.

Looks like Patrick confirmed my thought regarding the thunderstorms.
Everybody have a great day.
