I spent over two hours with my new primary care doctor this afternoon. My wife had an appointment too, but hers took less than 45 minutes.
I never had such a thorough exam and interview. I had previously signed medical records release forms. I never expected them to track down and retrieve so much. It was literally hundreds of papers. The doctor went through everything with me. Much of it I had forgotten about!
Now I have a battery of tests and other procedures to go through.
I tried to tell her "I feel fine"

Finished all the labor-intensive work prepping for this trip tomorrow. I thought the temp was only going into the low 80s. Apparently mother nature had another heat wave handy. Temps in the low 90s and very humid.
I was able to wring sweat out of my blue jeans before putting them into the washer.
Due to how my back has been in such bad shape, I decided to trailer my bike up to Detroit then do some local riding there till Monday morning. I'll put the bike back on the trailer then head to Verde Valley, AZ and unload it there for some regional riding. I wasn't able to get my steroid shot in the spine before this trip so I'll be popping big Motrin tabs most of the way.

Good evening. 75° and dark. High temperature was 86°, while yesterday topped out at 80°. Hot and humid's back tomorrow going to 91°.

Family returns home tomorrow, after a busy week. Wife and I are both tired, with the constant activity.

Ken: Enjoy the trip. Be kind to your spine. ;)

Louis, (and Jaz):
Remember, "the Kids in Bristol are sharp as a pistol...". I'm married to a Bristol Gal. (PA, that is).

Louis: Just noticed, the Birds have moved up to 4th. in the AL East.

Have a great evening.

Good morning all! 69 heading for 82 degrees on the day. Another busy day ahead at work. It's my part-time workers last day before he transfers to a 4 year school to get his Bachelor's Degree. I'm really going to miss having him around. Just a good kid, very smart and willing to do whatever he's assigned. He should go far in life. As I mentioned yesterday I bought pizza for him and my other worker yesterday. Not going to have either of them after today with my other worker starting vacation tomorrow. Going to be by myself in the office for over a week. Gonna be weird. Probably have to talk to myself a lot LOL

Time to get ready for work. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning all,

I'm in late, as I'm on vacation.

73° and raining currently, high to 85°. Yesterday was 82°. 78° for tomorrow.

Still have to get downstairs later to inventory my stash. I got several buildings I think I can use and one BB railcar kit that's dated within my time period. I also picked up a package of artist brushes and a small hobby vice. The layout was dismantled and the all brass track was in a box for sale as well. There was a box of built buildings, but I didn't want to go through them. I've got a box of buildings in the basement I'll probably never use as well.

Wife has a lab appointment we need to go to shortly. Preliminary to her annual physical.

Hugie:
For some reason my tablet will not let me insert after your post...puts it in the quote of the post of which you would not see.

Anyway - check out USAA if you are former military ( or someone in direct family is ). Wife refuses to switch to any of the others because of their customer service. We insure 3 vehicles, 2 liability only, 1 full coverage. Think we pay 85 a month. She calls them and gets a real human whom answers questions and fixes stuff ( if needed ). If digging for answer does not happen almost immediately, you get a call back in a short amount of time. When I did my 3pass, they insured a car wife bought with license plate only. Needed that to get me home from Ohio. Rentals one way we're a joke - 2 grand which did not include fuel and that was pre-covid!

Good too early morning. Nature called at 4:50 this morning and I been awake since. Finally climbed out of bed after trying to sleep but the tossing and turning was getting aggravating. Sitting on the front deck it is 63f/17.2c and not quite pleasant. But, I am protected from the breeze. We had a trace of rain last night!

Heading out for a 9am haircut. After a 15 year search the lady my wife has used the last 8 years I started using after a truly horrible cutting in January this year. She is super. Then back home to get Terry and we are heading 2 hours out on the backroads to Galena, Illinois, USA. US Grant spent quite a bit of time trying to live there prior to his call up as a General in the war of Northern Aggression or rather the US Civil War. We have a six hour window before we have to head back. Low 80’s there today.

We head to the ball park at 7pm to watch the granddaughter in her last Special Needs softball game this season. She was excited about it yesterday. Her cheering section from her neighborhood, former watchers and 3 sets of grandparents will number about 25. She had one of her teachers show up last week.

I traded the pulp car I had for sale for a coil car and if it’s in as good shape as the pictures showed I got a deal. This along with the retail therapy order the other night will get me to a good mix of rolling stock with the numbers sitting at the 70 car goal. I have been thinking of expanding the layout and adding the Junction City, Wi. junction of the CN’s Valley Sub that I originally started modeling and adding it’s Superior Sub. I no longer know what they call them now. By adding the junction I could run 6 axle locomotives again on train lengths of 40 cars in the 60-89’ range. Meaning I could buy auto carriers, ethanol and oil tank cars. I sold those off a few years ago when I decided my free lance version of the Valley Sub was 4 axle locomotives only. This would also bring back to the layout the unit trains of Wisconsin sand cars that ride these rails, still today 2-3 times a day. I would also need locomotives! Just thinking though for Winter season projects.

Good morning,

Another banner day, my income tax refund hit the bank yesterday, filed on Feb 2, money comes July 28. At least it came. Pays our winter's propane bill at least, with a little to spare. We filled the tank last week so if world war 3 erupts we will make it through most of the winter. Big pile of firewood curing as well.

Ken DJ - hope the back cooperates.

Ken OBTC - It has always been easier for me to work alone. I usually get frustrated when training people in, however I have had a couple good ones that actually made my job easier.

Patrick - sounds like you have lots of fun ahead of you in the train room!

Hughie - looks like a great build ahead of you

Troy - tap,tap,tap

TLOC - my wife really likes the term "retail therapy". I shared it with her a month or so ago and it is her go-to term now

I am headed out to the field this afternoon to work on a County road project, super remote area where people are moving in. Seems they are moving out to rural areas at an fast pace.

more later, Dave LASM

Gawd, think that they are all coming to Libby! Real estate gal says our house probably has tripled in value in the last 3 years. Property taxes soon to follow, although there is some sort of referendum in the works now for keeping it as it is. We will see.. Libby is 90 miles from everywhere too.
Have you seen the sign: "Welcome to Montana! Now go home." Have been trying to get county and city to put something like that up for people to see when they hit Libby. Ya like that will work.

Good Morning All. Clear, still and 80° in this part of the world. Still under a heat advisory with 100°+ days coming up. The rain that was in the forecast, then out, then back in, is once again out for this weekend. Trees everywhere are losing their leaves.

Got the weekly grocery list almost ready, have to watch it closely today as there are some "once in a blue moon" items on it that I don't want to miss. Sam's Club is on the itinerary to renew the membership, pharmacy is on there as well. Plus a couple of places that my wife wants to go that she missed last week when she wasn't feeling well. The ill feeling never really went away, so she finally took a Covid test yesterday and it was negative.

Well after seven or so years of badgering the County Road Commissioner (two different ones), he finally sent out the grader yesterday. The operator cleared the ditches alongside the road, that prevented runoff water from draining. The water ran across the road in a couple of spots instead and was both a hazard to traffic, and has caused the road itself to deteriorate. Across the road, in one spot, it caused a 2' deep gully to form for several hundred yards across the pasture. It's a two step process, yesterday he cleared everything and left a large ridge of dirt on the road. later he pushed that ridge into the ditch and today a front end loader will come out and remove it. I convinced him to think about grading our easement road that runs alongside the south property line. He's willing to do it even though it's not actually a county road. His solution which is better, is to talk to his boss and have a few loads of gravel brought out and build up the road itself. While technically they aren't allowed to work on private roads, they get away with it under the guise of preventing damage to county and local EMS & VFD equipment if they have to respond.

Now they don't have to send out the mower!

Interesting to read everyone's music tastes. I myself am an amateur rock & roll historian covering the 60's through the 80's roughly. I have over 2500 contributions to Wikipedia in that category. On the computer and backup, I have over 80,000 mp3's, with 30,000 of them on my iPod. That music is the main reason that I have to use hearing aids today. Went to too many live shows in the front row, and used headphones extensively.

Thanks for the comments regarding yesterday's progress report; Tom O, Gary, Chad, Sherrel, Troy, Louis, Hughie, Dave B, Steve J. Jaz, Patrick, James, Smudge, Tom, Rick, OB Ken, Guy.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I was able to make some more visible progress. I added a parking area to the left, and filled in with ground cover between the structure and the RR ROW.

Next, I will be tidying up a bit here.

Steve J - Congratulations to your wife.
Ken (D&J) - Sorry to read of the back issues causing changes to your plans. It appears that you can still enjoy the trip though.

Everybody have a great day. Stay cool and safe.

Good morning.76°, with Fog and Mist. Going to 92°, if and when the fog lifts. Regardless, it's going to be close around here.

Mets swept the two games against the Yankees, 3-2. Orioles lost their game vs.Tampa Bay in the 10th...6-2...Still in 4th place. On the good news front, the Phillies beat Atlanta, increasing the Mets lead over them to 3 games....
