And speaking of the Orient Express, this just showed up. It's the train that ran in Japan in 1988. I think the pullman is in a museum over here.

Good evening gentlemen. Around 15 inches of snow in my driveway at the end of Sunday. But i kept pace with shoveling it away and keeping at least one vehicle able to drive out. Today no work as a result of the weather. Boss said to wait for his phone call. Well afternoon today was getting kind of sunny, so out for a drive i went. First stop was the west end of Enola Yard outside Harrisburg. Loaded coal train was waiting in a usual spot:

Driving on US11/15 towards Duncanon, i passed a westbound mixed. Caught the train passing the old station building in Duncanon:

I decided to try to chase that one and way in Juniata River valley in a place called Mexico, i caught it again;

This thing was really moving and kicking snow as it went along. Back in Reinholds as the sun was going down, i took a winter shots of Central Penn diesel and Reinholds station:

On Sunday (i know it's not in order), i was able to make a front detail for my Pennsy I1 project;

The bar pilot with wide pilot beam for the 1920s factory look of new "Hippos". Part fits in just like the Penn Line pilot.

Metal, plastic, and whatever else they put into modern vehicles can be replaced easily, but people cannot.

Everyone makes mistakes, so don’t be too hard on yourself - that’s why they’re called accidents.

I admire your honesty; most people would be quick to say, “It wasn’t me!”

Most importantly, I’m just glad that you and everyone else are safe.
Thanks. I'm hard on myself with this one because the one thing I wanted most to avoid...the one mistake I wanted NOT to make...is the very one I made. But, as I said, I got lucky all the same, so I'll take it.

"No other gerbils were involved in the making of this accident." If I can walk away from a real one saying that, I'm grateful. And I am.

A number of years ago, there was a model railroad shop in the basement of a house on US 15 near the school on the two-lane section of highway. He had a lot of stuff, and both my father and I bought from him.

13°F this morning. A lot warmer than it has been. High of 30°F expected and then a return to the deep freeze starting Wednesday.

Good morning! Another wonderful night/morning of sleeping without the neighbor's turbo Diesel at 0300. I like getting up this early when I sleep well. Have a great Tuesday. Servus!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those without a pain in the arse

It's Troy again.

My piriformis syndrome kicked my butt this morning. I had a decent day with it yesterday, so I tried the Nerve glides that help with the sciatica caused by my compressed disk in my back. That should help. Right?

Narrator: He was a dumb arse, again!

it took me about 3 hours after I got up at 3 am for the pee run to get the pain under control. I started with 400mg of Ibuprofen. And rubbing Biofreeze gell on the leg and buttock.

Two hours later I added another 400mg of Ibu. The best position for relief from the pain is flat on my front, on the floor with the offending leg in a 4 position (left foot against the side of the right knee.)

Been digging into the youtube vids and the one making the most sense for my current condition is Dr. Charlie (Phys Therapist) who says STOP doing the sheet full of exercises. Get the pain under control, then do the one movement that makes your pain go down. He's got a methodology for finding that. I've identified a couple of "stretches" or movements that seem to help. So I'll be concentrating on the one that has the most impact.

Until then, I had to set up a poor-man's version of a standing desk.

I've got a bar stool near this, so I can alternate from sitting on it when the leg grumps to standing. But standing makes my plantar fasciitis flair up.

I probably won't be doing much hobbying or writing today. Might be able to lay on the couch and do some reading. We'll see.

Back later with an update as the day warrants.

Good morning all!

A surprising 15F this morning. Temps actually rose a couple of degrees overnight. Unfortunately what it is now is our high for the day
and cold will return rest of the week. It is supposed to be mostly sunny, but breezy.

Usual load of laundry, dishwasher, and haul the garbage recycle to the curb before the 8am pick-up. I usually do it the night before
but still have some recycle on the counter and didnt feel like taking it out last nigh after we got home from basketball.

Basketball game tonight is at home so no travel and its just a freshman game at 4:30 so home early.

Not much else going on at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

9° and clear this morning, high later of 32°.

Main roads on my route are in decent enough shape I was able to use the cruise control this morning. City main streets remain somewhat dicey and most of the residential roads are snow packed.

Well, I'm officially old, even though I'm still about 2.5 weeks away. I got my Medicare card in the mail yesterday. I have to call the insurance lady to get the part D coverage I still need as my city plan isn't creditable, but my health plan is. Go figure! I'm on part A only as my city plan is cheaper with better coverage for both myself and the Mrs. and less than what they'd take for part B for her alone.
