Evening folks, its currently 29. Still wet and misty.

Got some of the track down and tested it out by running some locos back and forth. I couldn't put my finger on why something looked off and why the measurements didn't add up, until I discovered the switches on XTrackCad had a different turnoff than the ones that came in. I bought the same switches I designed the layout with, so I don't know why the lengths were incorrect on XTC. They're throwing the whole layout off, but I'll figure something out!

Sleeting and 14° right now, might drop another degree or two before morning. Been listening to sleet against the back patio door since 3:00 this afternoon. Heavy on occasion, but it's supposed to turn to snow any time now. Should be over around 2:00 am tonight. Wood supply for the wood-burning heater is holding out just fine, I haven't had to hit the stash on the covered front porch yet. The back porch is covered with what looks like 3" of ice, which will have to be removed for me to go outside for the second stash in the garden cart. I did lay a couple of sheets of scrap MDF sheets down which will have to be pried up to clear a path. The rest of the yard looks like it has 4"-5" of ice. Hoping that it will all melt by Tuesday! Haven't seen any vehicles on the road since before dusk. Not sure if they're impassable or if everyone is just staying inside and letting the cows fend for themselves. Hope that they don't lie down and freeze to the ground.
Stay safe and warm. It's headed your way Karl.
Good Night.

Started the lasagna process. Browned some onions, mild italian sausage, got the sauce in, extra herbs and now simmering for a few hrs. While I prefer to make penne since it is less work, my wife and daughter say that lasagna tastes better. Japanese have their taste buds connected to their eyes as presentation means a lot. I'm more of a throw it in one pot and be done with it. Easier, taste the same if the ingredaments are the same.
I saw a YouTube video by JOLLY about British kids eating deep dish Detroit style pizza for the first time (made by a real chef from Detroit or somewhere who lives in London and has a restaurant). After several different pizzas, he followed up with what seemed to be the best and most appreciated of all the foods

Deep Fried Lasagna

So, there you go. Something to try with your left overs.

Been a while, but I'm still lurking.
One of my nieces husband just had a kidney transplant. Right in your neck of the woods, Willie. Denton.
He's doing OK, but given the weather I'm surprised--disappointed--that they released him on a weekend with weather such as you are dealing with down there.
In my experience it's the discharge people and their..."ilk"...who are among the worst of the hospital people. They just want to get you OUT and gone.
In 2000, we were kicked out of a hospital on a Friday night with one short demonstration of how to apply and use a colostomy bag...and with just one bag! I scrambled around like a madman to find a supplier (it was a holiday weekend too). Appalling, and I will NEVER trust any of them due to the lack of professionalism of just the one. A problem the entire profession faces today (blame those who went before you if you are or hope to be a medical provider).

Other events: I lost partial use of my right hand in late Sept. Not a stroke or even a mini-stroke, but a neurological issue. Torn ligament, muscle...something. The hand is weak even now--50%. I can probably still do fine stuff like model building--golf may be gone--but I can't lift much of anything as I could before.
So I bought a RAM 2500 with a Tommy Lift gate. Flew up to WI to get it, then...made a mistake at the wheel...and totalled it about 90m east of Des Moines. Hadn't owned it even 24 hours. Meh.
Nothing much is going well. Back to square one regarding a tow vehicle, or lack therof/aka a truck. But for the guy who loaned me one of his I would be completely f**ked.
But every once in a while someone steps up to help you...and this guy did. He's lent me a truck for several months now, and it's made all the difference. But for the loan, I'd have been out thousands.

You didn't say, but I hope you weren't injured in the accident.
I've told the Coffee Shop this before, but it's been a very long time. In 1981, I purchased a new, leftover AMC Pacer from our local AMC dealer. I didn't have it long enough to form an opinion on whether it was good or bad, because 5 minutes after I signed all the papers, I drove off the lot, turned right onto the highway--and got T-boned by a drunk at the first traffic light when he ran the red light. The car had 11 miles on it. I found out about depreciation and the difference between buying new, and selling used to the insurance company.

Good morning all!

A cold winter wondeland out there this morning. A little light snow continues yo fall/ We dodged the bullet on the heavy stuff. It all
stayed south of us. We will end up with a couple inches. Currently its 3F with an expected high of only 8F.

We have a travel volleyball tournament all day today. Were getting ready to leave as we speak. Its a little over an hour away, so that
is what is on the agenda for today.

Have a safe day everyone!

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with some form of water, hard, wet, or fluffy falling on their area,

It's Troy again.

Rocky night of sleeping. Seems I did the wrong stuff for my sciatica yesterday. I kept doing the teeter table and stretches for Spinal Stenosis variety.

But, after the testing I did (heel walks, various push and raise this then that stuff) it definitely seems like the Piriformis variety.

So, I'm taking 600mg of Ibuprofen, using BioFreeze gel on the leg were the nerve keeps grumbling, and trying to stay prone or upright. In between states hurt. I can lay on the couch with my spine bent in the upper end, head upright supported with pillows, but the pelvis and lower spine flat. That seems to be the best.

But I can't sleep on my back. I immediate snore and wake myself.

As for weather, we're up to 4 inches out on the patio. Weather Underground, even at the airport, isn't getting snow totals. All the sites keep reporting 0.9 in of snow.

I marked each inch on this ruler with a red stripe up to 5 inches.

Four is covered, five is visible. I might have to mark a few more inches before the snow stops this evening.

Won't be grilling, unless the power goes out.

Everyone keep warm. I'll be on the couch. Might even get caught up on my Railroad magazines.

09°F this morning at 0630. -17°F wind chill. 10" of snow on my patio table so far and it is still snowing, but the heavier snow is almost over. There are still areas of snow that will pass through as the whole systems leaves the area. Expecting another 2-4" by 1800.

Running trains later today. Might have a couple Bitburgers too.

Have a snowy Sunday and be safe!

Servus!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 10°. The precipitation has moved east leaving what looks like 5" which I believe is mostly ice. Weather Underground stations around here are also not reporting any totals; I guess that their equipment isn't made for this. The station around the corner was reporting totals Friday night/Saturday morning!

Other than staying warm, not a lot happened here yesterday. Sometime overnight our graywater drain line froze, so that will be problematic soon. Accumulation of ice at the outlet is probably the cause. But we're warm and the toilet line still works.

Wife is up now so I need to discuss plans right now. It doesn't look like church today is part of them.

Everybody have a warm and safe Sunday.
