Fleabay tantalum capacitor. Straight from CHina. 470uf 16v. Lucky it blew downward to a metal chassis. The rest of the caps are in the garbage can.

Didn't damage the decoder, so I dodged the bullet. Lesson learned.

The front grill of this thing is perforated, so it was kinda neat seeing all the smoke coming out of it...
I bet that smelled good when the factory smoke came out.

good morning

did some work on the weekend, but not on any of my layouts.
and i still had not the groove for making a new video.. damn..

but a friend recived a new 3d printer. so he was printing the whole weekend :D
and i did a small project i had in mind, and was perfect to test his printer:

the green 4 things you see are magnets.
so they will fit in place and the whole thing gets glued together.
those are snap angles, if you need some when glueing your walls together.

the first print came out nice. but some tweeks have to be done.
i will also create a smaller version with just 1 magnet on the side.
2 are a bit of a overkill because those small little magnets 4x4x14mm are strong.

but it was nice to see his printer working, and another project almost done :)

oh and i got a message from FOS Scale Models, my limited run diorama building massive thing is on the way to switzerland :D
wooohoo.

wish you all a great start for the week.

cheers
Marco

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with circuitry of one sort or another.

It's Troy again.

Loving that I've gotten my circadian rhythm to mostly get up around 5:30a. Sometimes. Occasionally. Today was one of them.

Thanks to all who chimed in on my firearms questions. I've altered book 1. Had to take a brand name out and substitute "pistol" or "holster".

Lesson learned for writing. Someone always knows more than me and the AI combined. Keep it generic so the reader can fill in the blanks.

That's how today is going. I did one of those minor tweeks to the back. Felt a muscle in the lower left whine a little, but was still mobile enough to unload the car at the game store.

There was no way to ice it at that location, and it didn't feel bad. But it's protesting now. So the heating pad and I are best buddies this morning to get it to relax.

Currently 23 degrees F in central Alabama which is COLD for us, even is winter. This cold weather is helping smooth out the warm summer temps we had in summer to get back to a normal average yearly temperature.
My wife has a couple medical appointments today, so I will try to get the last Christmas tree in the attic and hang a large clock that I replaced the battery powered movement in earlier. It only took me two months to find the correct thickness movement in our area. Christmas merchandise took space instead of the slow moving clock supplies.
I am going to look over my rolling stock to find a few cars to practice my weathering skills ( or my lack of skills). I see so many good examples on this forum.
Y'all have a warm and safe day.

Good Morning All. Clear and 36°, heading up to 50° later today. The weather geeks made a drastic change to our forecast with a real winter prediction coming up. Heavy rain Friday with an overnight low of 16°. Won't that be fun? Then snow on Saturday with a high of just 20° and a single-digit low overnight and not going back above freezing until Monday! Maybe someone up north can close the weather door before then! Thankfully I swept the chimney last week.

Not a lot happened on the SFW estate yesterday, bed linen laundry for me and football for my wife. Must have been some exciting moments since I heard quite a few yelps!
Today will start with driving her to an eye exam where she'll have her eyes dilated. We'll make a stop at both the pharmacy and post office while out. I'll get the dishwasher sometime since it ran last night.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did some more vehicle cleaning and moving about. I added drivers and passengers to two convertibles so they could be re-positioned on the streets. One was a recent Oxford purchase and the other was a Malibu International from about 20 years ago. Left the camera out in the train shed, thus no pictures this morning. It took considerable amputating to get the drivers to fit. Even HO scale sitting figures do not fit in HO scale vehicles.

That's impressive brick work, on the ground and structure. Amazing what stone masons are capable of.
It seems almost a shame to walk on it.
Chet - Was there a doughnut shop near that corner in picture #7?

Singer Dolly Parton is 80 today. The late Janis Joplin was born on this day in 1943.

Everyone have a great Monday. Stay warm.

Good morning from Wisconsin were it is cold per my above weather map. I usually or rather have not let the cold dictate my life, today it will. Other than the quick garbage and the re-cycling bins already going to the curb and returning in about 60 minutes I’m staying in.

Yesterday we left the house for the grandson’s hockey games. The teams they tied one and lost one to on Saturday they destroyed yesterday. Go figure 12/13 year olds. 13–1 and 14-2 it was 2 of their better games in the last 6 weeks. The difference in days was amazing

No trains yesterday but there will be today.

Terry’s sister who has been a legal thorn, pita and estranged had made some overtures the past few months to reconcile. Now we know why. Her really nice guy hubby at 64 has onset dementia and they of course are broke due to her stupidity in all things financial. Terry made a very simple gesture, have ALL their (including unpaid past) medical bills, the mortgage/rent and utility bills sent directly to her and she’ll handle them. The sister said no, she wants money directed to her every month. Terry said no. Sister hung up. Last night both daughters Zoomed Terry and the story they got from their mom was different than the offer Terry told them. They will talk to their mother. Terry then texted her 3 brothers and only the youngest was aware of the medical issues and financial problems but she also sued him and he’s done with her. Here we go again, of course Terry was second guessing herself last night and was still awake this morning at 4. She is sleeping now. The sister put us through legal hell for over 10 years and lost every time. I can’t say or do anything to help other than support whatever solution Terry decides. F…ing family!

Be well

I really hope the situation gets better soon, but it's like they say, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your family!

God chooses our family for us. Thank God we can choose our friends!

Good morning all. 15°F last I checked. Supposed to be 20°F for a high. A little warmer tomorrow in the 30s. Nothing going on here today.

I went off on a tangent yesterday after watching a German folk music gathering at a tavern/restaurant/biergarten on German TV yesterday afternoon. Two of the ensembles had a harpist playing and I investigated those harps for several hours. I play piano, but not sure if I could learn harp.

They are a complicated instrument for pedal harp and slightly less so for lever harp. Very expensive investment too for a beginner, though they can be rented to see if it's something you really want to learn.

Have a great day folks! Servus!

Morning folks, its currently 38 with the sunny trying to make its appearance. Slow start to the morning for us too at work.

Yesterday was nice once it warmed up. Helped my dad move and feed the cows, then helped take down their outside Christmas lights, finally we went to a close-by cemetery to do some clean-up. Lots of downed limbs from dying trees. We planned to burn brush back at the house but the wind wasn't in our favor.

In the evening I cleaned off a table that will support my planned layout, and wired up my Railmaster 2400 controller to a single piece of flex-track just to run a few locos back and forth. I'm pretty excited to get going on it.😁

I'm almost embarrassed to say we're 37f going to about 50f today.....again. I spent yesterday trimming back the Japanese Maple out front and did a few other misc. outdoor "Spring" cleanup stuff.

My brother is 4 years younger than me and was planning on retiring at the end of this year. He was in a director position and just announced he has been promoted to a senior director position. I will be curious to see if the "golden handcuffs" keep him working and tolerating all the travel he does. I'll have to speak with him and see if his plans have changed.

I remember my first sales manager telling me "no one lets you make a lot of money or pays you a lot money because the job is easy.";)

And we're back from the Vet
618235145_18544495420035711_2488819259125941855_n.jpg

Lord fuzzbutt even got a warm towel from the nice vet tech girl. Then he got his Solensia arthritis shot.

Then I got a shot!. The cost of his monthly shot is going from $95/mo to $120/mo. Google did the math and that's a 26% jump!

This cat is getting expensive. Again...
