Good morning all!

BRRR....Currently 9F but the real feel is-11. High is expected to only hit 16F. I will say the prediction is for no snow today but that was for yesterday as well. We had 3 good snow squalls come thru at different points of the day. Little to no accumulation but was not at all in the forecast.

Last night we decided to go down to Applebee's for dinner. What a terrible experience. We got there and there was a 20 minute wait but I counted 22 open tables. We finally got seated and were 15 minute's or more before we even got a drink/appetizer order in. Dinner did come in normal time but we waited quite a while for refills. Looked like they had adequate wait staff, but service was still really slow!

Not much planned for today. I'm sure the wife will come up with something.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning and 5.5 pages since my last post Friday morning! Still a prolific bunch.

It’s cold, -2f degrees with a wind chill at minus -23.

Left early Saturday for an OPS Session that normally is a 60 minute drive. A bit slower at 93 minutes yesterday as Friday’s nights unexpected snow really didn’t stop until about 7pm Saturday night. So both going to and coming home were slower. Just a great time yesterday on a super layout.

Nothing done at home yesterday and it’s doubtful I’ll get to the workbench anytime today. The grandson played 2 games at home Saturday that I missed. He scored once in a tie game in the morning and 3 in the afternoon game they lost 3-5. His team has hit a slide. Today is games 63 and 64 and it’s too many for 12/13 year old. They are worn out and burnt out so what did they do in Thursday’s practice. End to end line drills which are very wearing. Stupid coaches. They are losing to teams they beat easily this season when they were fresher not because they lost there “compete”.

Enjoy your day

Jerome was truly a SWitcherhaulic!

Speaking of Jerome, I wonder where he disappeared off to? It's been four or five years.

His last post was August 2000, then he kinda fell off the map. I even tried to call him and never got a response. I believe Rick (Rico) also tried.

Here's some of the master's handiwork that lives on my layout. All I did to it was to add a sound decoder, otherwise it is all Jerome. IIRc, Rick (Rico) has #1206 on his pike.

Kinda lonely in here this morning!

I woke up this morning with a migraine at 7, popped some Tylenol and laid back down. Feeling better now, enjoying a bagel smothered in peanut butter for breakfast!

BBL, gotta clean the PB from the keyboard! Whooops!

It's snows here every other day now. I got tired of scrapping my truck's windshield every morning, so I finally cleaned out the garage where my truck is parked now. I sold my neighbor the Jeep with the snowplow parked across the street for $200.00 about 5 years ago. The tires on it were worth $800.00 alone but he's a great neighbor and does a lot for me. He plows my driveway every time it snows now. Swal

Good Morning All. Clear and a frigid (for us) 15° this morning, but headed up into the 60's later today after the sun makes an appearance. No wind therefore no wind chill! Mixed weather coming up with mostly upper-50's and low-60's until next weekend. Oh look, there's a 35% chance of showers Wednesday morning! That would be different but probably won't happen. Never did see any snow yesterday even though the radar showed it overhead for over an hour.

Nothing of note yesterday, it was just too windy/cold outside. I am just a warm weather person which is why I have no issues with our 100°+ days in the summer. Never have to shovel sunshine!;) I watched cab-ride layout videos and played some computer games.

Out in the train shed, I did some infrastructure work. Tried to re-organize some of the wiring underneath the lower level where I cleared everything out last week. That's where I accidentally yanked some lighting buss wires loose. I branched off from there and mainly used some wire ties to eliminate dangling wires. In between, I cleaned some vehicles and moved them around on the layout before succumbing to the temptation to run a few trains.

Swal - Referencing churches on my layout, I have two others besides the one that I posted yesterday, but neither one has been scenicked yet, thus no pictures. I wish that I could model the one that we go to, St Peter's. Click for some really neat interior pictures taken by someone else.

Back when I lived where it snowed, when NWS would forecast snow, I would lift the windshield wipers and lay an old table cloth over the windshield. In the morning, I would pull the tablecloth off, dump it, lower the wipers, and be ready to go.
Of course, that does require NWS to be reasonably accurate with their forecasts.

Almost hit a seriously unseasonable 60f yesterday. I decided to do a Spring project 2 months early. I needed to rebuild a retaining wall on the backside of the asparagus plot. I did a quick, sloppy, job 7 years ago when I first planted the crowns. It's not level nor tall enough. I forgot how heavy those paver blocks were, but still carried them 2 at a time down 32 steps.....repeating the stupidity multiple times.

I'm actually feeling the stupidity in my upper back and quads this morning. It probably wasn't such a prudent task since I had gone to the gym a few hours earlier, but it was a clear & sunny day and I couldn't stay inside.

No rain or freezing temps (extremely unseasonable) for the next week. 2 of our bedrooms are carpeted and a big dog leaves a lot of dirt, drool stains, and body oils, so I'm going to clean carpets today. That should loosen up my body.

Everyone have a great Sunday.
That's impressive brick work, on the ground and structure. Amazing what stone masons are capable of.

An update on the card issue, that's quickly turning into a fiasco:
Via phone call, the fraud department confirmed it was an attempted authorization, and not an actual purchase. The people here that said that's what is was are correct.
The fraud department said since I confirmed via their email I did not authorize the authorization, the card will remain locked. I will need to call a different number during normal business hours, not counting holidays (which tomorrow is a bank holiday) to get the lock unlocked.
When I pointed out the email asked "Did you make this purchase? Yes/No", I of course said NO.
Bombay Bob then hung up on me. I guess I'll not have access to my money until sometime Tuesday--unless the fraud department decides my card will remain locked, in which case--who knows?
Have gone through this before. I wish there was another way. That is why I have a separate card that I do not use except for emergencies like this.
I also have a hearing issue that really becomes a problem when speaking to people that are not in the USA or can not speak understandable English .

I do have a completely unrelated secondary account and card with a different institution with a small balance maintained for emergencies, which is what I'm currently using.

Terry’s problem is one of the seasons I don’t use debit cards. First, fraud affects my money with a debit card. Fraud with a credit card affects the banks money.

But second, I don’t lose access to my money. Sure, a credit card can be locked, but I maintain a few and one reason is this case. No single dependency. One gets locked for fraud, I have a couple backups. None of which directly affect my own money until the end of the month when I pay them off.
