Morning all from a very wet but surprsingly warm south coast of the UK.

Need tea, strong and one sugar and lets raid the pastries shall we?

I feel the need to get all upity with Firecrown's hopless Customer Service Department, they still owe me two paper copies of Classic Trains in my subscription and thus far, attempts at communication have resulted in one reply where they said they did not understand my problem, a carefully worded response from me and then radio silence for over a week now.

All I want is my two missing issues or my refund!!! Not that difficult surely?

Bring back Kalmbach, at least they knew what they were doing!!

Have a great day!;)

Good morning folks.

40°F this morning under cloudy skies. Supposed to be 67°F by 1500, but we'll see about that.

Eye exam at 0900 this morning to see why I'm seeing a lot of grey spiderweb-like grey foggy lines in my left eye, and for new glasses. This started about four months ago, but I couldn't get an eye appointment until today. I made this appointment back at the beginning of October. I'm glad it hasn't gotten any worse.

Have a great day!

Servus!

Morning all,

32° and clear, high of 66° later.

Got home last night to find the wife had dinner ready. Always nice, but unexpected.

I revisited the Dr on my trigger ring finger on my right hand. I'm going to have an in-office local anesthetic procedure on the 10th to fix said finger. I have tried injections and I have a splint I use at night, which relieves the residual pain, but only while I wear the splint. We'll see how it goes. Carpal tunnel for the left hand coming shortly after...Right one done 6 years ago. Can't go on vacation so I might as well repair the breaking parts... 🤣

Morning fellow MRRers!
The weather guessers here in western PA are predicting 45° today which gives me a chance to get out and wash my pickup, which has been covered with road salt since Sunday. And I definifely have to stop for milk for my coffee, so I can spend hours at the layout later today.

I've been assembling and upgrading couplers, etc. on a UTLX tank and a couple flats lately and needed a change. Yesterday I worked on two tractor-trailers that required some upgrading and customization. They're almost done and Iooking a lot better. Will get back to the UTLX and hope to have that finished by the end of the day.
I also have a turnout coming tomorrow to replace one that's been acting up and plan to do some long overdue switching in the yard. But first I have to roust a couple of homeless people that have taken up residence in one of the boxcars 😉😄

Have a good day, y'all 👍

I've not stayed at the HOtel New Otani in Tokyo but I've hard good things about it. I did stay at the Hotel New Otani in Makuhari (outside of Tokyo) when I was there for my first time in Japan and I had a booth at Macworld Tokyo 2000. It was nice and not super pricey. I had a small single business-man room so it was nothing special but the service was excellent and the hotel itself was nice. I assume the main one in Tokyo is a lot better.
The son said it’s kind of overwhelming to him. This part of the visit is a business trip for the girlfriend. Over the 5 days in Tokyo she will meet with 2 clients so they splurged on accommodations. He said off the main lobby is a Rolls Royce dealership, so I believe it might be pretty nice.

There's only a handful of countries I think it would be neat to visit, Japan is one of them.
Australia and New Zealand I could handle living in either place.

As for visiting, almost every country has it greatness in one way or another. I traveled for business so saw most of business parts of the countries. That isn’t indicative of what the country is like but if I could find time I got out and about.

Lonnie, I believe you are younger than most here. So if you have an opportunity to see another country take it. 1 every 5 years I think would be great and if you can make it a business trip 1 per year. It doesn’t have to be extravagant but cover the basics. You won’t regret it? There are lots of folks here that will tell you to travel, even cruising. But like Nike says, just do it…

Good Morning All. Clear and 39°, heading into the upper 60's today. Just a tad higher than yesterday. Same mild forecast with cooler weather Saturday through Tuesday, but still no rain or snow in the forecast. Brief cold front Wednesday night with probable freezing temperature.

The usual Monday chores yesterday and I made Salisbury Steak for supper. Wife even complimented it!
Today will begin with a trip to Dallas for another free scheduled maintenance on the Lexus, as well as a recall due to malfunctioning backup cameras. That hasn't affected us so far. We'll get a free loaner and I will visit Discount Model Trains and we're meeting an old friend for lunch. She's actually an old friend of mine who I knew before I met my wife, who didn't actually meet her until 15 years later. Wife wants to go to Trader Joe's while we're there as well. That will pretty much kill the whole day.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished up that farmhouse with a bit of touch-up paint. From the normal viewing angle, it wasn't noticeable, but since I had it off the layout I figured why not. I cleaned a couple more structures, barely...they weren't very dusty to begin with even though it's been two years since the last go-around. I also repaired a few places where the ground cover needed some rehab. Still have a few places here and there that got wet when the tornado ripped the roof off the train shed 20 months ago. Not sure if I'll get home in time for a visit out there today.

Louis - Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Michael - Wow! Four months for an appointment! They'll probably recommend cataract surgery for the gray lines. I doubt that glasses can fix that.
Patrick - Good luck with the finger. Repairing the broken parts seems to be a regular part of aging! And it takes longer to recover.

Everybody have a terrific Tuesday.

Well, I need new glasses anyway since I haven't had an eye exam in about five years. But, the problem with my eyes isn't cataracts. I can see just fine with my left eye as long as I'm not looking at an angle that puts my line of vision through one of these grey lines. With both eyes open, it is sometimes hard to tell there is anything wrong at all depending upon which way I'm looking.

If I'm looking dead ahead, it looks like I'm looking through a grey, smokey ring. And the vision through that ring is crystal clear.

It's more of an annoyance than anything, I just don't want it getting any worse.

Good morning folks!

I hope we haven’t broken Terry our wonderful moderator! Be well Terry no matter where you are

The wife (my Terry) wants to get out today, so we will. As usual she doesn’t know where so told me, you pick. Of course the 1st 2 choices were vetoed. We will figure something out. This was the time of year she would have spent on Maui and this is year 2 of her not going. She was going to day trade this week but Sunday afternoon she said she decided not to. She runs for a couple weeks and backs off but so far nothing since before Thanksgiving.

We did make decisions regarding all sort of financial things and now are going to re-visit one of the trusts! I wanted to divest some of the Berkshire Hathaway now that Mr. Buffet has truly retired. Terry convinced me though that the man has done very well for us since 1990 and we should trust his hand picked successor for at least a couple years. This coming from the still very aggressive stock player!

The brother wants me to play golf on Kiawah Island, SC. the last week in February. One of the events his group of friends have during the year and I was handling the planning and playing for a few years. Terry thinks we should go even though Kiawah outside the golf course is kind of boring. I’ll decide by Friday but I’m leaning no.

We did change our March plans in Minneapolis due to the ICE disruption issues. We will not be going to the WCHA conference hockey championships for the 1st time since 2014. The Badger women have won the last couple.

Be well
