Afternoon All,

Started out with a morning walk at 47F. After breakfast I did a couple of small chores, then headed to the train room and started out with a black acrylic wash, let that dry, cleaned the track then put down the initial layer of fine sand ballast. I need to go over it again tomorrow and when that's dry, hit it several times with A&I.

Gary- It sounds like you need another set of hands.

Joe- Another great 1:1 photo.

Troy- Poor kitty.

Patrick- Good news about your grandson.

moermusic- I'm verry sorry for your loss.

Christian- It looks like your layout is coming together nicely.

Alan- Great video. I really like the "bloody nose" paint scheme.

Willie- Nice job on your build so far.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Not much done today, just messing around with the compressor, trying different settings etc. haven't tried the new airbrush yet, had a crack at the patch painting a Kato C424 I bought sometime ago, one of my first HO I bought, even the cheapie Chinese airbrush worked quite well with the new compressor and without thinning the paint first.

Some before and after foto's

I may redo the rear as you can still see the grey marks underneath, but unless held at a certain angle under the light, not really noticeable.

Although this is Tru-Colour paint, it's still slightly off shade wise.

However the important lesson I learned here is, READ THE LABEL, I didn't, and had a near panic attack when I realised that Tru-Colour is acetone based, which is the one cleaning solvent I don't have, cleaning the airbrush wasn't too difficult for the most part tho', let it dry then dump the airbrush in hot water and you can peel the paint off.

I visited my ailing sis yest & this morning. 20 mins after getting home (3 hr drive), got tthe call that she was gone. Her 3 boys & 3 of 4 sibslings saw her today. One sib was on plane from Vancouver to Calgary, but not in time

I am sorry for your loss. My condolensces to you and your family. I suffered the loss of my sister last year on August 30th....she was 51 yrs old. Her birthday is January 30th.

It is tough no doubt but as they say time will heal and remember the good times.

Afternoon shop dwellers!

Well I am still sick....still have the crud. Pumping fluids and eating pineapples and oranges. I still have an appetite. I will be finishing off my homemade chicken soup today. Tomorrow will be rabbit on the menu. If ya'll never had it ya should try it! Good stuff! I will be grilling mine.

Not a lot to report other than a few things came in today. I got a few surprising items that I wasn't expecting to find on ebay earlier this week. I bought a EMD SD40 Union Pacific #3030 with DCC and Sound brand new sealed in the box! This is the first run on the RTR series. So Tsunami 1 and that doesn't bother me. All for 120 bucks shipping included. The guy listed funny with a weird description. I took a chance and well it's legit and I have it in my hands! The cool thing is I actually have seen this exact locomotive in person! I saw it back in 1991 in Little Rock AR actually North Little Rock. At the time it was with another sister locomotive SD40 with a slug in between the 2 units. I am hoping to replicate that! I have the slug already just need to find the other locomotive that has been produced #3003. The old logo is on it too. "We can handle it."

Speaking of slugs I own a few of them with today's technology and such it amazes me that none of the big manufacturers have not started making these as they were quite popular and all over various RR systems. Jerome used to make a ton of the switcher slugs, 4 axle and 6 axle slugs too. He was a master! I only have one from him.

I also go a few small items too. Those Life-Like generators....I can't pass those up as I am trying to build up a huge inventory of them for my distributor facility. I will post pictures on the RPO thread for ya'll to see.

My energy seems to come and go up and down. What gets me is the cough I have. It is more intense and frequent when I lay down but if I am up and moving around not so much. Nasal drainage.....non stop. I hope I am on the tail end of this crud. We shall see.

I see thare are a few NFL games tonight. I may watch them but for me tomorrow is the day where my Packers play Sunday night football! Go Pack GO!

Today's weather is 43° F and the sun came out for a bit. Looks like we even may get a sunset tonight too. It has been so gloomy and overcast with rain each day and lots of fog. The sunshine was welcomed when it came out!

Last nite I watched "Jeremiah Johnson". Love that movie! I am glad no one tried to remake it or reboot that classic.

Well as I mentioned I did buy a few things before going to the "Big E" so ya I fell off the band wagon......my mantra....

I underestimated all the things one must concenter in constructing a new bathroom from scratch. The plumber started his work today. It only took him about 15 mins to install his vent through the roof. It took me 2 hours to get the air exhaust vent installed. The 4th photo shows how the new bathroom will look after all the work is completed, except I will be using different colors and our room is a little wider.

So, yesterday, our cat officially killed his red dot machine.

Looks like this:
View attachment 159330

No problem... Kitty can wait a day for his red dancing dot. Keeps him entertained when I'm at the writing desk, or the hobby desk, or sleeping... if I remember to turn it on.

Amazon had them. Ordered.

Delivered!

View attachment 159331

Problem. My back porch is NOT red. It doesn't have either of those mats. That's not my broom. and my door is brown, not tan.

Our back porches where the deliveries are made, are inside privacy fences. Kinda tough to look through the fence to see if it's on someone's porch...

Hmmm... which of the 200 neighbors have my cat's little red dot of crack?
Ol’ I use a heat tester, was checking the walls with it the dogs loved the red dot….new game

Natural gas prices up more than 300% since January 2022

Court said prices are being pushed higher in part because of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, shipments going to countries in Europe that have been stocking up on natural gas in the face of cutoffs after Russia invaded Ukraine in February. Gazprom, the Russian-owned natural gas company, is the continent’s primary supplier of gas.

“This is about all the LNG we are exporting to Europe,” Court said. “They’re selling our natural gas to Europe because they get a higher price.” The resulting inventory shortages lead to higher prices for U.S. consumers, he said — and the companies can put on the squeeze because “consumers really need it.”

Police officer pulls over a speeding car. The Officer says, " Our patrol helicopter clocked you at 80 mph. sir."

The driver says, "Gee, officer, I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar needs calibrating."

Not looking up from her knitting the wife says sweetly, "Now don't be silly dear, you know that this car doesn't have cruise control."

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, "Can't you keep your mouth shut for once?"

The wife smiles demurely and says, "You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did."

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, "Dammit, woman, can't you keep your mouth shut."

The officer frowns and says, "And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $75 fine."

The driver says, "Yeah, well you see officer, I had it on, but took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket."

The wife says," Now dear you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you're driving."

And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket the driver turns to his wife and barks, "WHY DON'T YOU SHUT UP??"

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, "Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?"

"Oh heavens no, officer. Only when he's been drinking."
Driving home from playing badminton late at knight in pink top pink shorts pink socks and white pink trainers, I think I am being followed so start watching the car behind me,i rolled through an amber he jumped the red, now definite he is following me this is like 11ish I accidentally roll through a red..doh….the road is empty except for the two of us in a ytafng estate but on a main A road, then hid flashing light goes off. So I pull over a young cop get outs and talks back to another then strolls up indicating I drop the window, which I do, he looks (may have done a double look aall the pink) then asks if the car is mine….mmm no it is my dads, he looks ask for the registration plate, mmmmm I have no idea. He leans in looks through the interior f the car,and asks where have I been and I say playing badminton, he gives me a quizzical look, tells me to stay in the car and wait and walks back to his car, he climbs in,I can see them laughing.
So I look over my shoulder, ouch my mate provided the badminton rackets, first time I played - another story but we thought as beginners use a slow ball…no no must not divert….but on the back seat is…my riding crop from when I went for my dressage lesson that morning and my knee high riding boots as they are uncomfortable to walk or drive in. I am young not stupid, brain engages, me in all pink, my riding boots and crop no hat or jacket on back seat…l.
So the co,saunters (i do not use this term lightly) back to the car and leans in say the address I gave for home and the car check to the address I gave but as I have no I’d they will follow mE home To verify, and am I busy Friday night. now here I lapse and stated immediately I have a boyfriend and am seeing him Friday - on reflection may have been safer to agree to Friday then duck, but no I turned him down. so I get ‘the look’ he stares at the back sit a moment or two, then say not to pull out until he is in the car then drive within the speed limit and no more jumping lights,
He walks off gets in car - no laughing this time…gulps. I pull out drive carefully not to slow not to close to the speed limit, a couple miles along their flasher goes off and I think shit they are going to do me anyway, but they zoom off, I went home to my dad wagered I should have agreed to a date then duck. But they must have had a call, and they never checked, neither my dad or I got done by any police for any violations, phew.
I think he saw me in full makeup, and my pink outfit, and the crop and boots and no badminton racket and came to a different conclusion that what actually was the case, my dad wasted no time in telling the story to his mates and yes I got teased for ages, luckily at some point he forgot, and I certainly did not remind him.
FYI if you ever get pulled over by the police, and they. Ask you out, do not say no. and hey, it could happen to blokes as well as women so never say never =P

They are right Germany and some other European counties over paid to get almost a years backup, UK has less than 10 days reserves, doh! and because of sanctions, we can expect this to continue to next winter. companies only want a profit, and will not protect their own consumers. Hence us choking on get our woodburners fitted.
